Save money, stay in shape, volunteer, get a hobby.

I often think this about dating in general. I gave up on these apps a few years ago and don’t try to date much but that’s ok with me. I focus on trying to be a good dad to my teenager and invert myself in my job and my hobbies, have a couple good friends to drink beer with, thinking of going back to school if the world ever calms the fuck down, etc. You see these people, of both sexes to be fair, putting their entire self worth and all their free time and money and emotion into these relationships, kinda seems like a waste of life and missing the forest for the trees here.

I remember in my youth once at a club I ran into the boss' daughter.
On seeing my friend who she knew (who was much taller) she then proceeded to introduce herself then hand me her giant handbag and something else and said she'd be right back. She then proceeded to leave me watch over these things for ... 90 minutes. She was probably doing coke and fucking in the bathroom.
To this day I regret not just putting her giant handbag on the ground and absconding, career consequences be damned. I didn't know her and had never met her before that night, but she knew she could play this sort of game given her father's position.
