The baby daddy (of the second only - yeah I know) was an absolute loser. Very overweight , no job , less attractive than me (and given how self deprecating and hard on myself I am this is saying something). He had also stolen from her either just before or just after their split

I had a professional job, my own place etc etc

She ditched me and went back to him and then had a third kid with him. Some people are just screw ups

The other problem is even if you give one a chance, get really attached to the child, and it doesn’t work out, you’re not just losing a relationship. That’s hard enough. You also really do feel like you’re losing a child, and it’s one of the worst feelings there is, both for you and for the kid, who is often far too young to understand what’s going on.

I would spare men and the kids of single moms this pain. It’s horrible. You’re better off never bothering in the first place, and if the single mom doesn’t like it, don’t get knocked up in the first place.

My employer hired a young lady about five years ago about 25 years old with one daughter from a previous relationship. She was divorced, but the kid was from an earlier relationship and she had no kids with hubby. I won't even lie, this chick was insanely hot. Like young Jennifer Connelly hot, and built like a brick sh** house. I got to watch most every dude in the office young and old fall all over themselves around her. Thirst is a REAL phenomena and it doesn't just occur on social media. Me, I don't sh** where I eat. So she would have been off limits with no child. But it was amazing to see dudes just act a fool, buying her lunch, making stupid excuses to interact with her. We men have a lot going on for us. But I'll be damned if female beauty doesn't make some of us act like 5 year old kids who were bottle babies.

Long story short she left for a new job a little less than two years ago and moved to be closer to that job and some guy she was dating. The office got back to normal, so I wasn't happy to hear she was returning Monday. Several dudes made comments about at least having something nice to look at around the office which made me roll my eyes. But we all got an eyeful Monday morning. I didn't ask for details, because I really didn't want to know. But apparently she was pregnant when she left because in the 18 months she'd been gone she had two more kids. Did you guess those two kids were with two different fathers keeping her birthing ratio a perfect 3 kids / 3 dads ratio? But that wasn't the funny part. She had put on a lot of weight, I mean she was like 75% bigger than she had been. It was funny to watch the dudes anxious to see her walk in and almost look over her trying to catch a glimpse of old her.

ALL that attention she used to get was one of the reasons I think she came back. But it's gone. Nobody was stopping by her desk to talk. Nobody was buying her lunch, but that may have been sincere care for her health hoping to not make her even bigger. Several times I noticed her looking around as if she was thinking, "why is everyone working instead of showing me attention?" I've never seen something so sad and funny at the same time. The guys I work with wanted someone to flirt with and she wanted to be flirted with, but she no longer qualified. As the day continued I could tell she was getting more and more vexed about the lack of attention.

So about half an hour before quitting time she brings in her two youngest children for everyone to see. Some of the older guys focused on the kids and interacted with them. But I couldn't help but laugh at her thinking a child is any way to get attention from any man. I've had several private conversations with guys at the office and now nobody is losing their mind over her. People see now she's bad news, but they couldn't see it before she squeezed out two more and opted for the muffin top look. I actually got into a philosophical debate with my buddy. I claimed she was now showing who and what she really was the entire time, he thinks she changed. Either way, the wall came for her very early and three people under 18 helped lay the bricks for that wall.

Saying no to a single mom is a wise thing to do, unless you too have kids. But vetting any women you date to get a glimpse on their future is crucial. There are three guys out there that hate they decided to think with their junk every paycheck they get. Any dude willing to supplement that income for her or a girl like her really needs to consider the ramifications first.

I love hearing the male perspective, it is very interesting. I (a female) have been married several years and have a child with my husband. Before I met my husband, back when I did the online dating thing, I actually put on my profile that I was not interested in dating someone that had children. I got some really nasty messages from a few guys because I took that position. I went on two dates with a man that had children, and simply decided it wasn't for me. He was a very good father and had a good relationship with his former wife. However, I couldn't shake my own guilt....if he had any precious free time, I felt like he should be spending it with his children. What I would have needed from him for us to start something serious together would have taken time away from his little ones, and I personally just couldn't stand that thought.

Back in school, I was always friendzoned. I’ve been rejected many times only for the girls to date other guys. So, I just focused on myself to achieve excellence in my career.
