A PUA will tell you this: text minimally, and only text to set plans. PUAs claim this creates intrigue.

I have found this to be inhibiting and even harmful in the relationship process. Long periods of silence don't "create intrigue", because I guarantee you the woman is absorbed in her own life and her own needs.

Instead, I have found that a light touch approach to texting is best. I text women on my phone every day or every other day. This way I am fresh in their minds, but I am not overtexting and becoming an annoying part of her life. If I text her and she doesn't text back, I will wait one to three days before texting her again.

It is next to impossible for a woman to have not read your text or not received your text. If you sent it, assume she read it. If she doesn't respond within 24 hours she may be busy or may not have felt the need to respond.

Text to show you are empathetic. Send her light and fun texts. You can text her good morning, good luck, thinking of you, a question, or event in your life she may be interested in. The point is, you are creating a persona over texting that shows your interest in her means you care about her.

If a relationship were a meal, texting would be the potato chips. They are light and taste good, but ultimately are not of core importance.

If I am in a texting conversation, I will text four or five times before letting the conversation go and waiting for the next day to text her. In my experience, I have been in hour long texting conversations which I thought were creating rapport, but when I met her it turned out that the majority of that time was worthless.

Here is a common occurrence: you get a woman's number, you text back and forth, you go on the first date, then you text her and never hear back. You text again and still no response.

Women avoid conflict and a woman who doesn't respond figures that you will eventually move on.

Other notes: find your texting style and stick with it. Some people write full sentences, others write in text-speak. Either way, be yourself and stay confident. Avoid apologizing over text and never be negative. Texts from you should always be positive or neutral. She should enjoy receiving your texts, and they should be a highlight in her daily routine. Even if a date went poorly or you messed up somehow, speak positively via text. Remember that text messages last forever.

Around 24 hours before the first date, text the woman to confirm.

At the end of the first date, text her with positives about how well the first date went, regardless of whether or not it went well. This will help influence her belief that it was a great first date. Finally, make sure your response time is natural. If you are nearby your phone and she texts, it is fine if you text back immediately. That being said, you should be the one controlling the timing of any texting conversation. You text at your convenience, regardless of when she texts you back.
