You don't need to "neg" someone, only under certain conditions (in 90% of the cases you won't use a neg, however later in the conversation you will use a neg either you want it or not. In any long enough conversation it will appear a neg as much as you run away from it)
"Push-pull" is used once or twice during a conversation. It's not a magic trick, it just creates a playful and dynamic conversation, it ia kind of joke so why are you afraid to use a joke?
Everything Todd V says describes the natural way a man and a woman interact. You don't need to do everything in a check list format one after another, you include them in the converation. Show me any infield video, and I'll show you that everyone uses these concepts, whether consciously or not.
You mentioned your good-looking friend. How do you know he doesn't use any of these concepts if I see that you don't understand them yourself? As I said, he does, either consciously or unconsciously. Qualify/disqualify, cold read, tease, "we frame" etc are used, deliberately or not. It's impossible to hold a conversation with a woman without these things. It's like telling you to make someone laugh without telling jokes, it will be very difficult.

I think it's more of a question of what demographic you're gaming and not what techniques you're using. PUAs would like to live in a world where every woman is the same and reacts to the same things. That way they can take an individual approach and extrapolate general rules from it. Unfortunately every person is different and you're going to need a wildly different approach when gaming girls in clubs, at anime conventions, at a hobby meeting or at a kink munch.

I know a guy who is naturally submissive and he has two girls just because he's pretty. He just sits there and doesn't need to do anything. How? Being in the right place at the right time. It's a question of finding the community you feel comfortable in.

gamey things are your training wheels LOL, neil strauss tells you about this in detail on all his shit, he used game, he would have entire cheat sheets with routines and stuff eventually he would not use that anymore, but at first you will need that shit, routines, fake DHV stories, silly ass games, all of that. When our fathers failed up that's the only path for the unnaturals.

Lines and techniques are like the tools and techniques of a painter, you can have the best tools and know all the techniques to perfection, but your art may still be shit.

Then there's the guy who creates great art without any fancy tools and barely any knowledge about technique, that's your friend.

Many guys who try to learn game is starting in the wrong end, thinking better lines and techniques will be the solution, but they're not really understanding the art.

I started down the same path myself, but it didn't seem to help much so I said "fuck it" and just started winging it instead. That didn't immediately work, but I just kept practicing, changing it up and figured out the art through trial and error.

I won't say lines and techniques are bullshit, but it's something I identify having happened AFTER an interaction. I don't prepare them before or perform them during, I just do some shit and sometimes it just happens to align with some described techniques.

Todd V and other guys break things down in techniques to understand how things are supposed to flow because it’s aimed at an audience that doesnt have good social skills

It’s a way for someone to make sense of things and make them more tangible, but ultimately it’s just a way of dissecting a good flirtatious conversation between a man and a woman

So yes you can succeed without doing “techniques” overtly, but guys like your friend are actually doing those things without consciously thinking about it

The outer game stuff is only a facilitation to help you build the inner game beliefs. Think of them like training wheels, you need some sort of manual to learn how to do certain things if you're totally clueless. In your case, you don't sound like you're totally clueless.

For you, you might want to ditch the outer game stuff alltogether and focus more on your mindset and "doing things naturally." This is kinda where you transition into the natural route. See my post on the "top 10 inner game beliefs" and "the roadmap to pickup" or something like that and identify which stage you're at and what you need to work on.

Sometimes the advice you're taking is not suitable for you anymore. You need to be able to identify what are advice made for begineers and what are advice catered towards more intermediate to advanced guys.

All you need is inner game. And decent social skills. It helps that average attractiveness. I've been very successful without ever doing anything like a cold approach. Not really anyways.
