I think there's a lot of nuance to the word "approach" and unfortunately people tend not to elaborate on what they mean by that, especially online. Context matters.
[–]ExchangePowerful3225 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link
This. How you go about the approach is everything. But bottom line, from a woman’s perspective, approaching a woman when she’s ALONE and without an OUT is a no go.
[–]greenlight144000 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link
So you can only approach girls when they’re in groups now?
[–]SageSeed1 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
They don't get molested, beaten for saying no, raped or robbed when they are in groups most of the time.
[–]greenlight144000 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Approaching a group would make it more awkward and make the guy more creepy than anything. So don’t give me that crap. How can you assume every guy is going to do those things.
[–]SageSeed1 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm sorry you feel that way hunnie. You seem bothered by the idea of having to approach a woman with her friends and not by her lonesome self. And that's why it's easy to assume, some guys have alterior motives. Nothing wrong with us taking necessary precautions because we don't know which one of you want to corner us.
But I understand If YOU are uncomfortable for some reason. So I found this video for you! Enjoy buddy.

Rather be safe than sorry
[–]awakened_celestial -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link
Nah I disagree. Could be missing out on a lot of potential future husbands. At least give them a chance to talk for a bit.
[–]NervousGamedev 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link
No one owes anyone a chance. And who says they're looking for a future husband?
[–]awakened_celestial -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link
I’m not saying they are looking for one. Just saying there is a chance they could have missed him. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Also you only have one life so why not take risks? Letting them talk for a bit is really not a hard task.
[–]NervousGamedev 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link
Not a hard task? Those are precious seconds of their lives you are asking for that they will not get back. Everyone's got shit to do and may not want to be distracted. Generally people either like another person's vibe or they don't. It's nothing personal.
Your comment sorta feeds into the notion that there's a person out there for everyone who is "The One" for them, which frankly, is BS. Lots of great folks out there to meet. It's okay to miss a few. Everyone misses some every day without knowing it, and that's ok.
[–]awakened_celestial 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link
I see what you are saying but I still disagree with you. See your mind is stuck on the philosophy that “everyone is out to get you. Don’t waste your potential time to meet someone cause you think it’ll end up with you hurt or dead” that is the fear factor talking. I’ve dedicated my life to learning lessons like this and now I know when someone is good or bad without even walking up to them. But I practiced socializing with every I met or walked up to me to chat. You only have one life. Why not try to experience every single thing possible?
[–]NervousGamedev 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link
Context matters here. We're talking about how women deflect advances in certain situations because they detect a scenario that could compromise their safety. They will have many situations where there are no risks. It's very logical to minimize certain kinds of safety risks when possible. It's clear you haven't thought much about what those risks are, or don't have a firm grasp on the severity of them.
If you are a woman you have a plethora of things to worry about that men have absolutely no experience with. As a man I have no framework for truly understanding what that must be like, but I can imagine it by listening to what women are saying about their unique dating challenges. Women have very real threats waiting for them out there that men do not.
I am not explaining this strictly from my perspective. I'm often very generous with my time when people approach me, but not always. I'm quite social when I want to be, but no one can be expected to always want to be social.
[–]awakened_celestial1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Now now I agree with you 95% I do agree with all that but you shouldn’t say women have more to worry about than men. We all have equal things to worry about no matter how you see it or hear it or think it. In fact from a man’s perception most of the time the odds are always against us even if the female was in the wrong. But I do agree that we all have certain social problems we need to be aware of. But just give at least most people a chance to speak.
[–]NervousGamedev0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
LOL. I love this topic and think of it often.
I acknowledge that men and women both have unique dating challenges, but men don't have to worry about getting raped, murdered, or beaten in the ways that women frequently are. Those are objectively WAY more severe than any of the things men have to worry about. Does that make men's unique challenges less numerous or less valid? No, of course not. I think it's unfair that our challenges often get dismissed as insignificant. We've got our own shitty numbers game to deal with that many women will never be able to fully comprehend. However, women have an inversed form of it that is hard for men to understand until they've seen it in action. I wrote a big reply about this in r/nonmonogamy recently. https://www.reddit.com/r/nonmonogamy/comments/tbmfhz/comment/i0bdvi6/
[–]awakened_celestial0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Did you just imply that men don’t need to fear getting raped or brutally hurt as much as women?
[–]NervousGamedev2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Relatively speaking in the context of dating, yes. It happens, but man the statistics just do not suggest it's that big of a concern for us.
Blame society for our diversity and fear. We are ruining ourselves.
[–]NervousGamedev3 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I do not understand what you're trying to say here? No one is accusing you of anything. I'm just pointing out that women have valid reasons for deflecting advances that generally don't apply to men.
[–]awakened_celestial-1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Everything applies to every gender. We all have equal fears and equal reasons to deny things. Don’t single out a race or sex and say they have it harder or have something another gender or race doesn’t have.
You can't argue that the risk of feeling lonely and the risk of being dead are anywhere in the same ballpark of severity.
I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to accept. Equality is not the way of the world. If you think it is, you're living in a bubble. It sucks and it's unfair. Many people are working their asses off every day to change that.
Not all things apply to all people. Different people face different kinds of prejudices. The consequences of these prejudices vary as well. That doesn't invalidate any of them.
I’m clearly more awake than you and more connected to society than you think. Every single person and animal runs the same risk of being raped, beaten, eaten, or killed prejudice is mostly alike for everyone. “We don’t like you for a certain reason” wether it’s skin color, culture, or looks. It’s the exact same for everyone and everything. If you can’t understand that then you need to wake up.
Everyone faces prejudices, but not all prejudices are equal. I'm sorry but your statement about risk and probability being equal for all is simply not true. You have to be willfully ignorant of statistics and societal dynamics to believe that.
Ok I agree with you but only because I can’t change your mind.I’ll agree to just end this conversation here and be a civil-mannered person. Have a wonderful night/day.
It sounds like you don't agree and that's ok. I never said you had to agree with me. I'm just making an effort to explain that what you're saying is not aligned with reality.
[–]jujutoastybuns2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Its normally by other men.
What’s “normally” by other men?
Its majority MEN who do this to both women and men. Not women.
Show me the statistics
I already know it is majority of men but show me statistics to back your claim up
You got google.
Of course I do. Don’t you? I mean you clearly have access to the internet and Reddit. Why not back your claim up and show me the statistics of your statement? Or are you not willing to use your life enough to do a simple quick google search, copy and paste yourself?
[–]jujutoastybuns0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Nah but you already agreed so i no longer need to participate in this. Bye. Enjoy being lonely forever.
Lmao I’m not lonely. Although someone like you will not live a very happy life with and without someone with your attitude. You can continue to be an uncivil asshole or change your ways and live your life the way that’s better or you can be a little miserable runt the rest of your life. Either way I do wish you a good night cause I’m not a bad person like you or other women here.
[–]jujutoastybuns -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Not everyone is “on the hunt” for a relationship. Women dont owe men anything, we especially dont have to talk to them if we dont want to. Leave women ALONE in public unless she comes to you. Or in a social settings like bars or whatever.
[–]awakened_celestial -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I never said anyone is “on the hunt” I only said it would be nice to give people a chance to speak. Like I mentioned you literally only have one life. Use it or lose it.

[–]awakened_celestial -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I just went down the rabbit hole of watching you reply, denying any factors that aren't related to looks. It's just sad. Let me assure you that while looks are an asset, they aren't the be all end all. Attractiveness is a complicated thing that incorporates more than visual appearance.
Don't believe the hype.

Appreciate the honesty, cause everybody will sit here and blame the man and his approach.....
Let's break this down. What is seduction really? It's a kind of social interaction. Social interactions require social skills.
Whether or not someone finds a guy attractive does not mean that guy has the ability to navigate social situations successfully.
I know majority of the times it all came down to his attractiveness. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'm going to urge you to read the rules, specifically Rule 7, regarding physical appearance.
If you think you cannot follow the rules, then you should find another sub.
[–]asm129 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Every guy will be called creepy at some point by some girl. As you said, all it means is she's not into you, but not that you're actually creepy.
It's just a way for girls to tell themselves they deserve better and to shame men who they feel are unworthy of them from approaching. But I say fuck that, I'm approaching anyway. Call me creepy, I don't give a shit, I can handle it.
[–]YoDaddy1069 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Fr4nko_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]ScreentimeNOR 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Most of the time is how you approach, mindset and attitude included. If you're nervous and very focused on the result (sex or a date), you are going to be so in your head about it that the woman can smell your bs from across the parking garage.
Also being focused on not being creepy is ironically gonna make you come off as creepy.
Just relax and have fun. Humor and a playful attitude will take you far.
Edit: One thing that will help you seem genuine is approaching and talking to strange guys as well. If you create your default as someone who picks up conversation with anyone it will feel natural when you are approaching women, for both you and her.

[–]sensual_aglet 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've always noticed the more natural or witty it is the better. If you just walk up and say hey wanna hear a joke? The initial reaction is gonna be "why tf is this person talking to me??" Thus creepy.
[–]kanslo 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’s really the way you approach us.
For example; I was sitting in my car with the windows down listening to music with my feet up on the dash (I was wearing shorts), a random old man walks up to my side of the car and has me turn my music down to tell me I “have some pretty sexy legs”. This is an example of what not to do and is creepy.
If I’m approached by a guy and we’re just having a friendly conversation then that’s okay!
[–]rhondaanaconda 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its labeled "creepy" by women because they feel uncomfortable being presented with those situations. It's also the go-to word for women who have experienced some kind of negative interaction with a man or men and have developed a hangup over it where they are now afraid of men who look a certain way, men approaching them in certain situations, or just men in general.

[–]ReadyTelephone2395 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
This is not true, sure you have control over the person you talk to (because they wouldnt even give you a chance online) but that doesnt negate the fact, these girls are going to pick the best of the best.

Cold approach shows confidence which women love, and what is stoppijg you from being the best she knows. If you cold appraoch 20 women do u think all of them have high value men in there lives.
[–]ReadyTelephone2395 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
yes if the girl is high value then 100% she has high value dudes in her DMs.
Confidence does not mean anything if you are behind the other dudes that are going for her in terms of:
-height
-status
-money
-looks
Behind in any of these then you are not getting chosen over the other dudes.
[–]seksAXAXA 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
goddamn such a pessimistic worldview. my friend, the ACTUAL main reasons guys will not get the results they desire (other than the person they're talking to literally being uninterested in them, simply 'cause the guy isn't the person's type AKA HARD NO, as opposed to maybe/neutral), is THIS DEFEATIST MINDSET.
the beauty of seduction is that proficient Game/Skill level has a way heavier weight than looks, money, height, and status. of course, these are all attribute points that you need to be working on—if your face is genetically blessed, but you suck at styling yourself you're gimping yourself, likewise if you're financially well off but you suck at being present and in your body/not overthinking during conversations with women they WILL see through it and you will also be gimping yourself. However, each individual "attribute point" absolutely pales in comparison to when you're able to exude a confident self-assured calm assertive energy PLUS lead interactions and be able to adjust on the fly AKA socially calibrate to the specific lady/s you're interacting with.
the only things that can consistently trump high-skilled game are being Famous and Preselection, in that order. it's clear, based on how sure you are of your opinion re: always losing out to other guys, that you're looking in the wrong areas AND at the wrong role models/examples.
if you're so sure there's no hope against gigachads do yourself a favor and:
1) learn the principle of non-neediness and practice living it.
2) get fashion advice from men who know how to style themselves and change your wardrobe.
3) get min 7 hrs. of sleep 90% of your days. consistently good sleep is better than any stimulant out there.
4) work on losing as much visceral fat as you can; if you dont want to then go to the gym and lift weights and wreck shit until your shoulders become broader.
5) STOP the pussy-chasing AT ONCE. focus instead on making yourself happy through repetition of your favorite things to do. the confidence boost that comes naturally as a result of getting better at the things you enjoy will DESTROY anxiety in the realm of seduction, to the point where you'll start to believe YOU'RE the other random dude with looks-money-status-height you used to be scared of competing against.
6) write down every. single. thing. you've ever done in your life that made you proud of yourself and repeat that shit to yourself daily until you believe the truth that is: YOU ARE THE PRIZE, MOTHERFUCKER. women (yes, including high value women) come and go, yet, as cheesy as it sounds, there is literally only one of you the universe has ever had in its history—so fucking USE that fact to your advantage.
if you actually do any combination of that and you STILL feel like a loser after then i don't know what could help you get out of it (btw this is for everyone that shares this loser-ass mindset, not just the guy i'm replying to). if i come off as an asshole it's because by choosing to believe this bullshit you're unknowingly weeding yourself out of the dating pool competition.

haha it is basically useless. Cold approach is just what these gurus are trying to sell to you. It can work, but rly only works in certain situations, like parties, meeting new friends of friends.

[–]jujutoastybuns 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
The thought of having a random man staring and stalking me down the aisles as i carry about my business until he is ready to approach IS creepy.
[–]nordik1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Well you just added a whole new element -- "staring and stalking you down" is not the same as approaching a girl in the grocery store. Most guys would see an attractive girl and make the approach, not follow her up and down aisles waiting to strike.
[–]jujutoastybuns 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wrong. Most guys hesitate on cold approaching, so they might pace around until they build their confidence. Which is ultimately the same thing i stated before.
[–]nordik1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Again, changing the elements. Is the guy pacing around stuck in hesitation or is he stalking you? Those two are very different
Stalkers are creeps, whereas someone hesitating to approach and second guessing himself due to his fear of rejection isn't a creep, and women that think like that are inherently socially toxic and part of the problem.
[–]recyclablebanthas1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
1
I’m reading some of these forums about how a man shouldn’t approach a women anywhere apparently.
You can find people who say anything on the internet. That doesn't mean it's inherently correct just because you can find someone saying it on the internet.
2
where the hell is a man supposed to ever approach a woman....
You can approach women in many situations as long as you know what you're doing. The problem is that our culture does not exactly transmit good social skills to men most of the time. Too many men graduate high school with little if any understanding of how social interactions actually work.
3
if everything we do is considered creepy.
It's not though.
Sidenote: There's no way to help you if you are going to be this rigid in unhelpful ways of thinking.
4
You tell guys approaching is a numbers game, then turn around a say, your a creep for approaching her basically anywhere.
You're talking about narratives coming from two completely different camps.
A.) People in the seduction community sometimes talk about it being a numbers game. Because not everyone is going to be interested in everyone. That's just a simple fact.
B.) And a lot of female led communities often get together to complain with each other about socially awkward men who are too pushy in their attempts to date them or ask them out.
They lack understanding of what's going on and often conflate those socially awkward attempts at approaches with the idea of all approaches.
When in fact someone who knows what they're doing won't register on their radar at all as someone who is "approaching." It'll just seem like a natural thing that happened when it's done right.
And to be completely honest, if you've only come here to just complain that none of this works, then you need to find another sub.
This is not the venue for rants, especially from people who refuse to accept constructive feedback or good advice.

Approaching strangers is low-value and last resort behavior. Women like familiarity are more receptive to men we already know, compared to random strangers.
Men would have a helluva lot higher success if they approached women who were in existing circles. Sociable, personable men are more likable. Women like men who other women like… those men are rarely seen as “creepy”. If a man is surrounded by other women, that demonstrates to a woman that he must be somewhat cool and not a creep.
Work on your social skills, social game & circle. Don’t be solely reliant on random cold approaches.

the real issue at hand isn’t the approach it’s the guys who take it personal or are pushy, women like being approached if done correctly, and to be honest having the balls to come right up and be direct is just as impressive because so few guys do it and do it well, I’ve had girls tell me where were you my whole life whereas that never happened in social circles (albeit I’m not as experienced on these as others)
Guys are never gonna stop hitting on women, you can either teach them the right way to do it or let them keep doing it the wrong way your choice
“Approaching strangers is low value, and last resort behavior” this is not a seddit mindset, plenty of guys who have never heard of game pickup chicks all the time in bars
“Men would have higher success approaching in social circles” not everyone does the giant friend groups thing and social circles only work well for men if they already know what they are doing, they are some of the worst places to practice along with work place game
“Work on your social circles, don’t be reliant on random cold approaches” how else are we supposed to practice and work on our skills, sitting around reading books all day on game or practicing in a mirror have limits, sooner or later we have to go out

Do you have a story to tell us?
[–]smind893 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What's creepy is GOING to the gas station to pick up women. Or try to.
All these guys going out to ty to get a woman are creeps.
Going out and looking to meet people is different.

Approach as a friend and ask how they are is one thing, but approaching like all you want is to get between their legs is creepy. Approach and ask them how they feel and listening to the response is one thing, but going up to her and ask if she would like French toast or Waffles the next morning after spending the night with you is creepy.
[–]Professional-Head83 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They consider it creepy unless it's a really hot chick. She won't be creeped out if you approach her. Trust me.

Every approach a ‘creepy’ guy initiates is seen as creepy and there are lots of ‘creeps’ so women associate these guys who approach them in these settings with feeling uncomfortable, women are incredibly socially intuitive and will pick up on a mans intentions quickly.
To seem less creepy, work on yourself more: If you are healthy, happy in your own company, successful and have a strong social circle you will come across as calmer, less eager, more direct and confident, therefore making her feel more relaxed and open in most approach scenarios.

If this was involved in any way, then women would be able to intuit that a guy was just going to ask them out, so this isn't it. Its mostly women projecting how they feel onto the person in front of them. If they feel scared or creeped out, then that is what makes the guy scary or creepy, not necessarily him actually being/looking scary or creepy.
[–]King-Britton -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I was just highlighting that women are more socially intuitive than guys, so their overall impression is more significant.
Women project how they feel and someone who seems anxious/uncertain will cause her to feel the same way. I agree partly with what you say, but eliminating all personal responsibility and putting it down to ‘women are just projecting’ doesn’t address both sides of the interaction.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
, so their overall impression is more significant.
Not really, and especially not always.
I agree partly with what you say, but eliminating all personal responsibility and putting it down to ‘women are just projecting’ doesn’t address both sides of the interaction.
It doesn't need to. Women address their own side/POV already and they don't want personal responsibility in these situations either because they'd rather be safe than sorry in the few unfortunate instances that they were wrong. I'm just addressing how what they feel doesn't always mean something, or isn't always valid, so they end up being afraid for no reason and assuming the worst of guys that were just there to talk to them.
[–]King-Britton 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Elaborate how women being scientifically proven to being more sensitive to others facial expressions/body language and feeling emotions in general more intensely doesn’t equate to a more significant impact on their overall first impressions. We see it through our eyes and disregard their perspective which needs to be at least factored into this for an open minded discussion about seduction.
I never debated that feelings are always rational, but they are still valid, irrational projection is something we all do constantly and there is no right or wrong way to feel.
My original point was just to highlight that the way we approach, carry ourselves and show care in these settings will play an overall impact on the way they feel, it could be the difference between making them feel creeped out or relaxed.
[–]CompetitionFair7686 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because you are creepy, and women can tell. It’s not what men do, it’s what creepy men like you do. Simple as that.

Much like women will say they like a sense of humor but if your joke sucks and you can’t make them laugh you will just be making WEIRD and CREEPY comments. Just like approaching, it’s ALL ABOUT CONTEXT.
This is frustrating because to some degree, if you could read context you wouldn’t need to be here trying to learn it. But it’s the truth.

girls only call men they dont find attractive creepy when the approach them, either dont be unattractive (work on self, confidence, game, look good) or dont approach.....

Hey there buddy,
General statements you read on internet are not absolute truths to take literally.
It's good to have some basic level of situational awareness, like not approaching someone who is on an ATM dark at night, it feels weird. And not forcing yourself into people who do not want to talk to you clearly or are clearly busy.
For me the answer lies in context and adaptability.
Am in a dance class with a female friend, we dance in couples and switch partners, another guy is greeting every girl he dances with saying "you are exactly my type, what you doing later" or something like that
Its a situation were the girl is cornered, she has to dance with him every 10 turns, as that is the class goes.
He could see the girl making uncomfortable faces or changes the topic, but he persists "you are really soo beautiful oh my god, can i get your number"
He did not adapt and kept pushing.
Just like not everyone knows when to stop, Not everyone is equipped to say "stop you are being annoying"
I think you can approach people in bars or social areas, you can also approach people in public transport,
When approaching, you can ask permission, and observe, if people close off, make a face and turn their heads, or put headphones, that is a clear sign of discomfort.
If a person responds and make the conversation go longer instead of shorter, that is a good sign, but does not mean necessarily they want to marry you or go to bed with you or give you their number.
Depending on where it happens, how it happens, your window of time before it gets uncomfortable varies.
Approaching someone alone in the street at evening gets uncomfortable from the first seconds. Same goes when they throw trash or in a parking lot.
Approaching someone in a cafe or bar, which is a place where people see as a more social place than a parking lot, you get a few seconds to tell how they feel about the interaction.
I experienced moving to a new city, i went to a cafe bar and just started talking to people, introduced myself and said am new in town, and i was looking forward to make friends, i approached both guys and girls in the cafe bar, and my intention was to meet people and experiment, first i asked permission, then chat a bit and depending how the chat goes i stay more or less, at some point i needed a laptop with internet and asked 2 girls to help and they helped.
You do not want to be the annoying salesman who puts his foot on the door and does not want to leave. Or that rings the bell at midnight. Or just goes into your house without knocking and says i found the window or door open.
Social events and activities are places where you can practice introducing yourself and sensing how much a person is interested in a chat.
I have been going to social events quite a lot, i learned to allow others space to bump into me as well, not always be the one to force bump everyone all the time.
Trust yourself, use common sense, experiment and calibrate.

Females basically evolved to not trust men, don't get frustrated this behaviour is quite normal, don't let it affect your confidence and don't let it stop you from approaching.
You won't feel creepy when you meet an awesome girl who you're compatible with
