It's likely that you're boring, and you're filtering yourself too much, and she can tell, and it's unattractive. If you are not willing to take any social risks, most girls don't even want it bro.
Talk to her with the level of comfort and free association and lack of a filter with a level of not giving a fuck that you'd talk to your best friend or your bratty little sister.
[–]MechanicalGambit 32 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
But talk slow and with a low tone with appropriate unflinching eye contact
[–]scenesick2 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
So you talk 5 octaves lower at the pace of 60 bpm to girls while staring at them? eye contact is important but I wouldn't say " UNFLINCHING ", bruh. It's not the end of the world if you dont look at her for 1 second
[–]MechanicalGambit 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Obtuse much? Appropriate unflinching eye contact... Above all else do what feels comfortable, dont fall apart if you look away for a second or are talking fast, go with the flow, enjoy yourself
[–]scenesick2 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Do what feels comfortable, period. If you need to switch from low voice, talk slow with girls and mid voice talk fast with your friends, family, and in the workplace then that just means you're NOT confident in being yourself , since you need to act in a certain way to get girls to like you.
Sure, the things you mentioned do help you " look more masculine ", but eventually you'll get tired of switching the masks all the time.
[–]MechanicalGambit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Being social means altering behaviour to cater to others, you can't escape that
[–]scenesick2 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That's called people pleasing. Being CONFIDENT means you're perfectly fine if someone doesn't like you. Because your " altered behavior " will not cater to everyone on this planet, believe it or not.
[–]TheTolietWhoSpeaks 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is what most of these “frame junkie technical game gods” don’t understand. I see a lot of these dudes in the field.
They’ll talk ab being intentionally unreactive, negging, push pulling, making her qualify, etc
But most of these dudes are missing the very very minuscule things. The tenseness in their eyes, the way they move, talk, act, touch, etc is operating from this place of not being confident with the themselves at the core. All of it is some button to press or some switch to hit. Taking out so much of the soul of the interaction.
They sabotage without even realizing it
[–]MechanicalGambit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Beyond a certain degree yes, but I'm not talking about people pleasing. You don't fall out of the womb with a full set of social skills, you figure out how to act and communicate with people at a young age, what we're discussing is no different.
[–]scenesick2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
what you're trying to say is: act in a way so they will like you what I'm trying to say is: not everyone will like you there's no point in behaving how people want you to behave.

I don’t think blurting out N bombs and other fucked up humor will work very well
[–]drewcer 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Learn to calibrate. Unfiltered doesn’t mean uncalibrated to the social situation. It just means comfortable in your skin and acting according to your own social codes/standards rather than trying to “fit” into what you are guessing other people’s social molds or expectations are. You’re acting on your own accord, but your own accord is also well calibrated.
[–]gigolobob 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I don’t see the difference.
[–]drewcer 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The difference is that one is reactive to everyone else, one is proactive according to your own internal principles.
[–]gigolobob 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’m not sure you know what you’re talking about. Calibration is inherently reactive.
[–]drewcer 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't call it reactive, it's just pragmatic. And by reactive I mean reactive emotionally.
Yeah, obviously you have to tune your behaviors to your surroundings logically in order to get anything done in the world. But emotionally speaking, you don't have to. And really the crux of it is that being un-reactive emotionally but still calibrated to your situation tells a women you are high status.
There are nuances. Even the boss in a workplace has to engage pragmatically with his environment to make sure his team is productive and the business is making money. But he's calling the shots and ordering people around which is proactive. He's not reacting to his employees, they're reacting to HIM.
And this is a lot older than you think:
Biologically humans are pack animals, and our ape ancestors for millions of years evolved in social hierarchies with some higher status than others. As such, we developed a lot of internal subconscious "tuning" to determine where on the hierarchy we stand. Because that was important to know.
People lower on the hierarchy filter themselves a lot and are afraid of sticking out. They follow the herd. Because the people higher on the hierarchy are the "bosses", they call the shots, and they have more freedom with their behavior.
If you offended someone who had high social standing in a hunter-gatherer society when you were lower on the totem pole, your life could be in danger and you could risk the whole tribe turning against you.
And since that was the setting we evolved in for millions of years prior to civilization, we're still programmed with all that stuff inside us:
We get a "feeling" in a room of people of where we stand on the social hierarchy in relation to them. And we look at the signals others are giving off to determine where on the totem pole they are.
One of those signals is free-association. If you can free-associate, if you don't walk on eggshells, you speak to people directly, and you care less what others think, it sends a signal to her that you're higher up on the hierarchy, higher status, and a more suitable mate.
But if you're totally uncalibrated, offend people, don't tune yourself to the situation in a way that self-sabotages everyone, then you will lose your value to other people and become lower status.

Does this work at work too? Because I’m working a job with hella bad bitches (this is my only stomping ground right now) so I try not to say anything to get me fired but my coworkers are all dating and stuff and I’m the top 5-10% looks wise so how do I start feasting?
Ps the normal unfiltered me is extremely controversial in a Joe Rogan there’s only two genders type of way.
[–]drewcer 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I would recommend not shitting where you eat but if you must, calibrate to your workplace.
If you work in a laid back restaurant where all the employees are fucking each other that’s different than working at the super rigid accounting firm for Jesus lovers which is different than working at the feminist association of America. It just depends so calibrate.
I own a business now and do consulting totally online so haven’t encountered this for a while but I used to practice attraction-building super indirectly when I had a job where there were hot girls. I was super safe, never coming on directly but was able to build attraction just with regular workplace interactions. I hate to use a spammy old-school pua phrase but you can work “attraction triggers” into pretty much any interaction without being offensive or acting inappropriate for the workplace. Sometimes I didn’t even intend to pursue girls I worked with, just wanted practice building attraction and the whole PUA mantra back then was “you’re always in the field” and I was immersed/obsessed with it.
Once I got a married woman I worked with so obviously attracted to me showing IOIs that during a meeting the older ladies in the room were all rolling their eyes at each other. I was super unprepared for the meeting and obviously didn’t do what I was supposed to and her eyes were all glazed over looking at me like “no you’ve done great work!” I didn’t go for her cuz she was married and it was the workplace but i was secretly bummed because she looked like Natalie Portman. Super sexy.
You can also befriend the hot girls you work with and have them introduce you to their friends because hot girls generally hang out with other girls who are at their same level of hotness. Each hot girl probably knows at least 10-15 other hot girls. So think about that.

Check this: https://whetyourwoman.com/pickup-women/the-five-attraction-switches/
And actually anything on that whetyourwoman site is worth consuming. That site has been around a while, it’s the old-school scientific pickup shit with real meat. Not the namby pamby little YouTube boys who are just trying to clickbait you and often don’t even have real battle-tested strategies.

Ok ok, I’ve been practicing on customers more than coworkers. Though, there is this one coworker who is seemingly playing hard to get (she’s hot and cold, compliments but won’t make it easy to talk to her etc. 🙄)
One thing about married women is a high percentage of them are a little too nice when their husband isn’t around 😂. Also with couples, it’s weird being in deep, unbreaking, eye contact with a girl while her guy is right next to her.
I try my best to telepathically tell them “I would fuck the shit out of you right now” through my eyes 🤣
[–]TommyWilson43 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Plenty of women out there, there’s a few cuties at my office too but I’d never pursue them because I love and value my job too much. Your “feasting” is my “shitty meeting with HR”
I mean if you don’t give a crap about your job go for it I guess, but it seems like a recipe for disaster on multiple levels
[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
My job is the most important thing in my life, but women are like top 5 ya know?
And I haven’t gotten any HR complaints in my whole life so I can’t be to cautious for a thing that I’ve never experienced/ never has happened to me.
Even at my old Best Buy job, I used to slap the Comcast girl on the ass and stuff and nothing….

“It’s a marathon, not a race” is my go to mantra for everything. Even job scenarios. Why not talk to them professionals; while still chilling and talking about bullshit; for 2 months and start the seductive phase after?
It doesn’t matter how good looking you are, no female is giving away ass to a co worker after 3 1/2 months

I mean it sounds like we have very different cultures at our workplaces, I’d straight up get fired for that, and besides if things went south with a girl I was working with, I’d be stuck with her still being around every day, it would be a total nightmare, but you do you. There’s no judgment here, it’s not like I never thought about it, but I would never seriously consider it personally due to the potential fallout.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Why do people always say “if things go south” like life doesn’t always have to be bad 😭
[–]TommyWilson43 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because it doesn’t, brother. But you have to find that peace and serenity and contentment inside yourself, if you think it’s gonna be about your car or your girl or your job or how tall you are you’re never gonna find it
[–]tes_befil 39 points40 points41 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I can't talk for shit either mate. My go to is to talk at a slow pace, smile and laugh a lot, and just be confident in what your saying. I found this made what I was saying way more interesting and oddly enough kinda flirty. Basically act sauve

I'd be a very happy man if girls came up to me because I was good looking (I mean, I'm not bad looking, but you must a freakin' model!)
I wish I could tell this to everyone here (and all the girls on tinder!) - Get a hobby. Something engaging, fun, adventurous. Personally I think rock climbing, or mountain biking are great for this. Then, when you are talking to a girl and she asks you *anything* steer it to your hobby. It'll be a low-key brag, possibly impressive, and if you're passionate, you'll have no problem talking about it. Then offer to take her some time, ask for the number and you're one step closer.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you think this would work with other hobbies such as writing, art...?
[–]terrorvision101 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't see why not. I like my outdoors stuff as it keeps me fit and is way more fun than a regular gym, but it's the passion for it that will help with the conversation. You've gotta have some braggable moments that make for good stories, and make sure you're part of a community. Perhaps enter some writing jams? Something like that that will give you something interesting to talk about.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not a model, and I've been approached pretty regularly by attractive women over the years. I'm decent looking.

When a girl shows initial attraction there should be very little you can do to fuck it up. The NUMBER ONE thing you can do fuck it up is show lack of confidence. Its better to act super cocky than be nervous. It is best to not be super cocky but just be slightly cocky.
It literally makes them fucking wet when you give this aura of treating them like a side dish
[–]FaithInStrangers94 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
How exactly?
“You’re hot”
“Indeed I am the sire of a superlative pedigree and have a flawless exercise and diet regiment. My faeces are more attractive than the majority of these peasants I’m forced to share this planet with ”
When you say be cocky do you mean tease her constantly or act like you’re getting more attention from women than you are or just have a confident delivery?

Tbh I often talk like that on dating apps for self amusement purposes.. girls don’t find it quite so amusing. But fuck it, one day I’ll find a girl who responds “self-evidently I also emerge from a pure bloodline noted for its pulchritude; might I propose we procreate and spawn forth a being of unimagined grandeur?” Or some shit like that. I feel like if I do she probably won’t be doing it ironically though

Disagree. Women assume I'm a fuckboy/player based on my appearance (aka think I have plenty of side dishes and would treat her like one too) and all it does is make women more standoffish towards me.
I don't live in the US though, our people are not nearly as outgoing as the US
[–]gbizzle2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Im not talking about appearance though. Im talking about energy. Two vastly different things
[–]lana_del_reymysterio 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yes and I said that. They perceive me as having that aura based on my appearance.
Acting even slightly cocky or even alluding to anything that would imply I am in fact a player only compounds the problem.
YMMV though, especially depending on location

1.smell good and dress nice 2. eye contact make it friendly eye contact 3. Talk calmly and not fast 4. say hey introduce yourself , ask for her relationship status and ask for the number 5. Give yourself a pat on the back it is so simple my guy
[–]xsprocket7x 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
"talk calmly" can be good advice, don't want to appear nervous. I like to try and listen to how they speak to others before I speak. How fast you talk and how loud you talk should be close to how they talk. MIRROR how they sound to a certain degree (speed and volume), close enough that they relate to you. This works with everyone and it's something that a good salesman knows (you're selling yourself). An example of this is someone from the south (typically slow talking) trying to talk to a New Yorker (typically fast talking), they will have a hard time relating to each other right from the start.
I only really pay attention to this in the very start of a conversation (maybe 5-10 minutes at most), once the conversation is flowing I tend to just let it flow.
[–]Moon_Bus 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That is good practical advice, it is hard to simplify when it comes to interaction. To expand on that, being good at conversation requires doing some listening and showing interest. that doesn't mean asking a bunch of simple questions, it means relating in a way that opens up the other person to talk more, so that you have more things to keep the conversation going. easy fun topics of interest, don't be judgmental, be careful of opinions.
[–]kalifo_yt 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
That’s why I think working on social skills before trying women is the best route to take first having at least 5 interactions daily will help you on that, also being genuinely interested is a good point
[–]Goulronk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What if you've never met any woman who has ever been attracted to you before?
[–]straightfromfoonga 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m a nervous bumbling mess and I still can get girls numbers. I recently just started going on dates for the first time in my life.
The key is to be understandable. When I’m feeling uncomfortable or anxious, I explain it to the girl and she appreciates how open I’m being.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Goes for more than girls but get them talking. Talk about whatever they want to talk about. Oh, you like _____? What do you like about it? Or I've never heard of that before what's it about? Stuff like that and learn to be genuinely interested in other people. I still have a hard time sometimes when someone likes really dumb stuff but the goal is to make the other person feel special without trying to make them feel special. Be genuine and genuinely interested. Remember things they say. Good eye contact and a smile, dont kiss ass. If someone is talking about something you have absolutely no interest in just say you dont really keep up with that and branch off on something somewhat related. Let's use the Kardashian tv show. I personally have zero interest. "I really like the Kardashians tv show" "oh, I dont really watch tv. Is Kim still married to kanye? What was that picture all about where he was floating on stage?" Or"i dont watch tv but dont they live in vegas or cali? Vegas? Have you ever been?, where would you go in vegas if you went" etc and it applies to everything from new friends, new potential girls, new business opportunities or getting a job. Reading extensively will make it easier for you to branch off too. Dont just read fiction. Check out biographies, read about places you want to visit, bands, etc.
Above all just be genuine. Be genuinely interested and always be learning from others. Learn names (I'm bad about this one too lmao but it's not impossible). Other girls you've failed with if you see them just smile and say hi (insert name here) and move on. Builds social proof and gets people used to saying hi to you without any awkwardness. (Do this in general). A good book you may want to check out is how to win friends and influence people.
[–]BlackbeardsHead4 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You should be interesting and you should be interested.
Dont be cocky, be confident. You should think of the world as a mystery and you're a detective, find what you think is cool and dive into that motherfucker, learn everything about everything, you like dinosaurs, learn everything there is to know, what species existed?, during what time was that? How do we know the time period? Who discovered the species? develop your own thoughts and beliefs based off of what you know. What reputable experts think on subjects.
Somewhere in life somebody will say some shit about dinosaurs and you'll have alot of knowledge stored in your brain ready to have an interesting conversation, people will see that and be suprised, intrigued, curious.
DO NOT be the guy that ONLY talks about dinosaurs, brings up dinosaurs at barbecues and picnics, the line at the grocery. People will be like, "there's dinosaur dan" in their mind.
Let it suprise people, don't broadcast to anyone how much you know or how much you're interested in things, there's times and places for letting people get to know you. They will be the judge. Don't tell them what you are, show them
You're brain wont fill up no matter how hard you try, it costs nothing to learn as much as you can about everything you can, and doing so is an invaluable card in your deck of life.

But for some reason, I’m not closing the deal. Then the more times passes, I can just see them slowly lose interest.
One girl showed crazy initial interest, added me first and everything, said she’s down to smoke, then when I asked her for her schedule, she said she’d let me know.
Btw I don’t give any free validation(no liked pictures)

You do know what you're doing wrong, you're bad at talking. So the solution is to get better at talking. There are 2 parts to that, one, hang out with other men to cut out the attraction part of the dynamic & practice conversation. Research people who are good at conversations, but avoid dating experts & seduction experts because they are absolutely misleading you about women. And the 2nd part is, research what women are looking for by reading their articles they write, the threads they participate in, the books they publish. Women are shouting about what they want but men keep listening to scam artist men about what women want. All the women in their videos are paid to be there, to agree with them, or to say scripted nonsense. And if they are actually dating women based on their teachings, those are not women who really want to be with.

You are saying its fucking your mind. You gotta work on that. It should not affect you. Otherwise its a downward spiral.
Just live life at 0.75x speed. Talk slowly. Walk slowly. Think Slowly. Just get worked up on how you gonna fuck it up.
And if you are not in a mood and thinking you are going to fuck it up. You probably will. Then just simply ignore.
Practice 0 emotions. In all things. No jealousy. No envy. No sad. No Happy. Whatever the fuck happens. Emotions doesn't make you think clearly. When you show 0 emotions you can think clearly and there are very less chances of you fucking something up.

Just ask a lot of questions all girls love one thing and one thing only , to talk about them selfs

Gave you give us an example of a time?
I was at a club once dancing on the dance floor out of the corner of my eye I could see a girl literally just staring at me looking me up and down so I decided to give her eyes back anyway about 5 minutes later the girl literally just grabs me and starts kissing me all she kept going on about is how gorgeous I was and how I was her type so I get chatting to her for a good hour about everything and anything It was going well and out of no where she said im sorry but I thought you was my type but after speaking to you you’re too nice For me she explained how she only went for me because I look like a fuck boy/bad boy what ever that means

Everyone in this forum should watch TheNaturalLifestyles on YouTube. It’s a game changer
I’m no pro but from what I’ve gathered from experience. Having a good mix of curiousity and sexual intent works. In addition, like believing in who you are (just being a man who is able to talk to her makes you valuable) and being okay having sexual feelings during the interaction.
Sure there’s certain techniques (like saying something kinda sexual and going back to normal conversation like nothing happened but keeping great eye contact)
But for the most part what I’ve gathered is A) feel congruent in yourself first. Do you believe who you are? B) BE CURIOUS FIRST C) Don’t be afraid to acknowledge attraction and intact it needs to be acknowledged in some way to make the interaction man and woman. D) Don’t cockblock yourself by not going for the close/ date/hang out.

This is what comes to my mind after reading you post, OP. I'm kind of facing a similar issue.
I think your problem may lie in that you aren't congruent.
When the girls see you, they think you are one way, but when you talk, you come off as another way.
So, you may look like one night stand material, but when you start talking to them, you start sounding like a boyfriend.
Find out what you want with girls, and have your whole message be about that one thing. From your dress and grooming, to where you hang out, to what you say and how you say it. Girls want to Define The Relationship (DTR) as quickly as possible, so make it easy for them and send one message with all of your verbal and non-verbal communications.
You’re actually bang on with this most girls say they are attracted to me because I look like a bad boy/fuck boy who will treat them like a dickhead for some reason girls like that but as soon as they talk to me they find i am a really nice person who will treats them with respect they just run off

What do you say when you talk to the ladies?
[–]SnooApples6088 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Just speak your mind don’t try to think about it to much and see it as a convo with a buddy but a buddy you want to sleep with

I take it that your a good looking dude. The game that you should apply is a little different than what others may have to apply.
Rather than being erratic just be layback and chill and keep in mind that your doing the women a favour.
Lean back against the wall, be mellow but smile, don’t talk too much to the point where you make her dry.
I adapted this game over the summer and it worked like a charm. I managed to have sex with a girl on the first date.
Just think about being smooth and incorporate being smooth with everything you do in your everyday; this will make it natural when your with a women
[–]Bulgybloom 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
A lot of girls say I look intimidating to speak to because I’m tall or I just look like a dick head guy who won’t treat them right
[–]Mmm91for[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thats true I recognize that behaviour in women. It’s hard to combat but the best thing to do is dress well and smile but not no creepy smile.
When you go in for the approach try smiling when you introduce yourself; this usually calms them down. If you notice her panicking and stuttering try joking around about it, I like saying things like “Damn girl you cold Or is it just me..?laugh with her I’m just playing with you”. Just make sure to maintain a masculine frame the entire time.

As soon as you start talking they lose interest? Two words, man. Breath mints.
[–]tnpersona 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I always found that you should listen more than you talk especially when you first meet someone. Observe their appearance. You might notice something you could ask about. It sounds to me like the issue is that you just have trouble talking with people which is natural.
How are your conversations with guys?
Good don’t have no problems having conversations with guys most guys say I’m chill and funny
[–]tnpersona 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hmm sounds to me then like you might be psyching yourself out.

Lol funny I just witnessed an older gentleman get a younger woman’s number right in front of me. Still tryna hold back my jealousy. I wondering how he did it😂

Women are stupid so ya gotta be be direct ...no fear ...no bullshit
[–]mdr615888 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What ive been doing recently that has given me success is playful banter. Just joke around and dont be to serious, it calms me down and makes me and the girl more comfortable. Id refrain from sexual jokes as they can be more creepy until you are more comfortable talking to girls.

Go to youtube and look up this channel: charismaoncommand
This should help you with your issue. Good conversation is your ability to make the other person open up and feel comfortable and natural around you. Thats the secret sauce. Ask deeper questions (for example instead of "what do you do for a living", ask them "what made you choose that career/job"? Or another one is "what did you dream of being when you were a little girl?"). People love to talk about themselves, it's human nature. Make the questions deeper/more vulnerable you will connect with them on another level
Other improvements others have mentioned: speak slower, have a deep/seductive voice, don't come off as unconfident (its likely showing in your body language and tonality)
I just recently pulled a girl who only spoke Spanish and barely talked to her (with the exception of some goolge translate conversations). So it can be done with little talking.
Its good you're here making an effort to improve, you're already way ahead so many others. You will have success soon!

I’m so rubbish at chatting girls up and it’s doing my head in. I do get a lot of girls approaching me saying I’m good looking and all that I also get alot of girls coming up to me and just getting off with me but as soon as I start speaking to them they seem to lose interest straight away don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m a 6ft 3 male who goes gym and is mixed race

So you are noticing some important details but then you veer way off track here.
A.) You note that the trouble starts as soon as you start speaking and that they're losing interest almost immediately or quickly.
It's significant to note this because seduction is a social interaction and social interactions require social skills. You are literally noticing the problems as soon as your social skills (or apparent lack thereof) come to the forefront.
B.) You drop a note about your height, gym membership, and ethnicity, none of which constitutes social skills.
The mind is a funny thing and it will look for negative things about you. This is often referred to as negative self-talk.
Often our negative self-talk it will settle on things that one cannot control. This is a common reaction built on insecurity.
It's important to be able to debate one's own negative self-talk. It's not necessary to be unrealistically positive because that's often just as exaggerated and fake as the negative stuff that pops up in our heads.
But considering a few pretty easily observable facts can be helpful and it's something you should be focusing on. For example:
Your fitness, ethnicity, and height are literally the first things anyone sees of you and you have said that the first impression you're getting is generally pretty good until you open your mouth.
So obviously these things aren't the reason why things are going downhill and therefore are not even relevant to this conversation.
2
So, the solution here would be to make an adjustment to your way of thinking when you approach social interactions. There are some important concepts in this department:
Active listening is key. We are talking about something that's easily at least half of the battle. You should be listening as much or way more than you are speaking. Information is power and if you aren't listening and observing someone else as you interact with them, then you simply won't have it. An easy rule of thumb here is that if someone else is speaking / responding to something you've said, your mind should be completely focused on what they are saying, not thinking about what you're going to say next.
Observation overall is extremely important. When you're out among people, you are sharing an experience and that experience can provide fodder for conversation. Many things can be talked about if it's relevant to what's going on right then.
3
If you can give a detailed example of a recent interaction which went sour, then I could explain how the concepts I've mentioned would apply to it.
Where were you when you encountered this person?
Who opened who and how? What exactly was said and done?
What was the immediate reaction to the opening?
What topics of conversation were there after the opening?
When did you realize things had gone south and what did that look like?
How did the interaction come to an end?
