Attractiveness and good looks should be viewed as separate characteristics.

Attractiveness is the ability to entice others into your personal orbit. This applies to seduction, personal friendships, work/business relationships— basically all categories of human interaction.

Outward appearance plays a very big role in attracting others, but it doesn’t mean someone has to be considered traditionally good-looking.

‘Good-looking’ in this instance means a symmetrical face with well-defined features, a full head of hair, tall, with proportionate ears, nose, and lips— all of the characteristics that are considered as classically handsome and visually appealing. This is determined by genetics.

Being physically attractive is NOT static, and is can be continuously improved and modified.

Genetics play a role, but being physically attractive is achieved primarily by action and habit.

The biggest component of being physically attractive is being visibly in-shape.

Being thin or having big muscles does not necessarily equate to being healthy or in-shape.

You can be thin but lack muscle tone and strength; you can be bulky but have excess fat and be in poor cardiovascular shape.

A ‘V shaped’ torso is the biggest physical indicator in men—a small waist in proportion to broad shoulders, chest, and defined arms.

Diet and consistent resistance training are obviously the biggest contributors to achieving this. We all know how to be in shape—it’s common sense—but more of a matter of discipline.

Being in shape conveys two things to women from a biological standpoint, and is attractive at a visceral level:

  1. You are healthy and will produce healthy offspring.

  2. You are dominant and are able to physically protect her

As we know, making a woman feel safe and protected is a fundamental component of attraction. A look that conveys the above is more important than having a physically pleasant face.

An overlooked component of physical attractiveness is conveying independence and an interesting lifestyle. That you don’t necessarily conform to expectations set upon you by society.

Style is merely conveying your personality through your physical presence and clothing choices in manner that is different from the next person.

This doesn’t mean you have to wear foolish or outlandish clothing or accessories, but establishing your personal interests or choices.

-Wearing a color that you enjoy but isn’t typically worn by others

-Dressing down stylishly (example: well fitted solid black shirt and jeans) in more formal setting, and vice versa

  • Wearing a shirt or item of clothing that displays an activity, hobby or, sport you participate in

Sometimes this requires you to step out of your comfort zone slightly.

Finally, body language and posture is a critical component of being physically attractive.

Who brings more presence to a room?

  • A handsome guy with slouched shoulders, a stiff, scuttled walk, and closed-off posture.

Or

-An uglier guy with an open posture that takes up space, with shoulders back and swinging arms.

We all know the answer.

Bottom line: While you don’t have control of whether or not you are naturally good looking, being physically ATTRACTIVE is something you have complete control over. Being physically attractive is far more important and being good looking.

We all know good looking men who still have trouble with women.

A guy who conveys strength, an interesting persona, and powerful/dominant body language will win every time, even if he isn’t considered to be naturally handsome.
