Doing it now. early 20s yr old with $90k in assets. Still can't get woman because the people in my social life are just bros who also worry about their lack of women.
[–]hawkeyes92 points 12 years ago [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link
The hell do you do to have 90k in assets? All I have is student loans

Went to community college at 19, at the same time started a Roth IRA, got a part time at 20 during college, liked job, became full time four years later, deferred college (still deferred), stayed at company and got raises up the ass. Lived with parents entire time until recently.
Money doesn't make the women come (giggity) in my opinion. I work at it by going out to bars and shit, but again, the guys I'm with we all cockblock each other. There's one friend I have in particular who invite to parties and shit, and when I txt his question is always, "What's the ratio guy:girl?" Every girl in his life that isn't family, he's tried to date or bang. I have more friends that are like him but not as bad but it sucks because I live in a super populated area but I can't make friends for shit despite playing basketball at a public park, being musical, working out, and doing all the shit that /r/seduction tells people to do.

[–]borntoperform 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The thing is that I'm quite sociable. My job is sales which required me to pick up people skills and having good conversation with people. Also I'm not a fan of that subreddit because the people who go there to me seem like autistic introverts, which I'm not. I do have friends at work and we hang out a lot, but the ones who are cool are the ones who are in relationships (whether married or not), and they're - for the sake of a better word - geeks (like Silicon Valley tech geeks, because that's where I am) who don't share my personality with sports and concerts and shit.

The gender ratio is famously low in SV (I think; just read that somewhere), so I guess that's what is holding you back. Just a suggestion : move to NYC...apparently, lots more fish in the sea there.
[–]borntoperform 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I'll pass on moving to NYC, it's already expensive living in the Bay. I don't want to move to the only place in the country that's EVEN MORE expensive.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
:-) Maybe you should also factor in the opportunities that NYC will open you for you. For example, if you earned 150% more and find more interesting / frequent dates, would you still be worried about moving to NYC?
[–]robertmcshaw1 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
Move to LA instead. Cheaper, more women, better weather.
I wish I could (actually I know I can, I just don't have a desperation to do it), but honestly San Jose is one of the best places to work, I have a great house I'm living in with other people, I'm saving a buttload of money, and I still do experience great nights every once in a while, even if it's with like 12 guys and 3 girls.
[–]Dubsland12 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Most people are screwed up self absorbed ass wipes. If you can find one or 2 real friends your doing great. The rest are acquaintances. Try aiming for guys with better social skills, at least they won't cock block the whole group.

It's cool, what's your actual title? I work as a financial advisor (first year) money is pretty tight, any excess goes towards my loans. I kind of do this thing where I "date" a girl for a few months then be single for about 2 and repeat. I'm from a small town and recently came back home from college so my options are pretty much just old high school flames.
[–]borntoperform 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I do sales in the Silicon Valley. No official title but I do the same work like whatever other sales people are called - Sales Rep, Account Executive, etc.
[–]ichivictus 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ah Silicon Valley. So that's like 900 dollars in assets in most everywhere else.
[–]borntoperform 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ain't that the troof. I've come to terms that there are two ways I can buy a house: (1) Hope for another Bay Area housing crash and buy at the perfect time, or (2) Move out of the Bay Area.

True. I find myself outright neglecting self improvement in the way of finances when I'm involved in game. Being lonely doesn't help. Being desperate for sex doesn't help. All you want is to hook up and satiate your lust so you can concentrate on money but, in many ways, you need to have your money issues sorted out before you can hook up. It's a vicious circle.
[–]megamorphg 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
You want more than that, you know it... You want a woman to love you.. for you. It just doesnt seem possible these days because women are geared for value (money, humor) and having that value feels difficult. I can say with experience though that depending on love from a woman for positive emotions is the worst dependency and will leave you feeling like shit if you didnt have any other options. Break through and focus on your life before game. If you really want, do game evening but make your life about you 80% of time, not chasing other women. Chase them (play your role as a male) too because really women couldnt mean less, they are just natures value finding machines. Do your thing and talk to people and who knows you might bump into your soul mate who does all the same things you do.

My plan, after I have acquired substantial financial assets, and I'm looking for someone to be with, is to say I've been recently laid off and am currently looking for work. Anyone who hears that and sticks around, I know it will be for me, and not my money.

[–]What_Is_X 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women (and men) have always and will always be geared for value. Attraction arises between people who see significant value in each other.
Money doesn't matter and is just an excuse for not offering actual value.
Humor is a sign of intelligence, playfulness and a willingness to risk vulnerability - which shows strength of character. It's also not hard to develop - it just takes practice, making a lot of bad jokes, and then learning to only tell the good ones.
Anyone should consider it a badge of honor to be groaned at for making yet another bad joke. It's only by making all the bad ones that you get the skills the recognize the good ones.

Money makes you more desirable to women, because it demonstrates stability and allows for more leisure. Make enough money, you're bound to find someone. Even if the reasoning is shallow, let's face it. A lot of people base their lives on shallow reasoning.
[–]JihadDerp 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What's shallow about going after the time, luxury, and freedom money allows?
[–][deleted] 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Mr_Rawrr 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Some people spend their entire lives ungratified by that chase. It's not shallow in itself, just can waste your time.
[–]Merica911 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, all you would find is gold diggers. Plus nowadays, girls can make their own money just as much as men. The only "group think" that I would agree with in 2014 is that being with women, in fact attracts more women.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Everyone is shallow, I'm sure most people here won't bother with a fat girl no matter how great her personality is.

I'm on the other side of this coin now - love wise this year has been a major dud so far, but having loads of fun with my startup! (which I could definitely not dedicate this much time and energy to if I were worrying after girls more. Online marketplace for gift coupons, something a bit like groupon - starting out as locally as possible so I can brute force the 'chicken and egg' problem by stopping by at local stores and trying to convince them to join.
So, not much action, but definitely an interesting project for the social skills!

as a generally broke person I'll say this:
let's say money doesn't attract women at all. what it does still do regardless however is give you a certain peace of mind that you'll never have if all you can think about is finding your next job, moving out or after pay day where the rest of the money to make up your rent is going to come from, so on and so forth.
back in the real world, where money makes you a more interesting person to men and women, that peace of mind makes it easier to have a social life (in terms that no event or form of transport is too expensive), you'll be less intimidated by women who earn more than you/ are on a career path to earning more or come from a richer social background than you.
I've never been rich but when I do have a decent amount in my pocket I don't have to worry about petty things like "can I even afford to go out and buy one drink at the moment, much less go on a date or get into a cab for a 1 night stand without having to ask her to pay for me?"
A girl will pay for you if she's interested and you're broke but that's not the point really, it's just that a lack of money brings about limitations and limitations bring about a negative mindset which is bad for your game and of course for your life in general, mentally and financially
[–]jlusedude 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I am not sure I agree with this personally. I found myself more motivated by being in love and wanting to provide for that person and having a successful future together.
[–]blondedre3000 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Most quality women will be scared away by that attitude if you bust it out too soon and/or she has her own life agenda.
[–]jlusedude 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That was my feelings after being with a girl for 5 years. Not on a first date.
[–]Ksanti 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There's a huge difference between wanting to provide for your family and trying to throw money at a girl to get her to like you. They come from completely different places and are received completely differently.
[+]Condorman80 -7 points-6 points-5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
"being in love" is an illusion. "wanting to provide for that person" is the chief aim of that illusion. Your culture and your emotions are betraying you. Give it some time and whatever you do don't get married. (Sorry amigo, not the most optimistic advice I've ever given, but grounded in the trenches of experience.)

Can't agree more. Every hobby/passion/topic I cared about vanished the second I found someone to sleep next to. At best the became a mean to an end (us). Spent all my life pursuing hobbies because I couldn't have someone. Now hobbies have no value. The irony is that this thing blew up in a week. Now I feel both the void of her and the disinterest of past passions.
As Bruce Lee said: Be balanced my friend.

Everytime I feel that that area of my life is secure (women, love, appreciation) and sailing steady all of my other passions dampen och slowly drift. I don't motivate myself and strive as hard as when I had nothing. That's a bit weird.

[–]sedditforthewin 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think you guys are missing the point.
This man is saying that he wants money, and that's it. He doesn't want love, happiness, challenge or women. He wants money. I've read the book, in it he describes how to become a dynasty, not just rich. He doesn't care about anything else.
[–]chetway 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not so sure about this. I mean it depends on what kind of ambitions you have. I've always felt that to be in love with someone is to be inspired to create your best self. To become someone for them. Maybe I just get this from Rilke's letters to a young poet but I think it is true.

The key is balance. Worry too much about money and don't develop any dating skills due to lack of time and you'll be a doormat/golddigger bait and still clueless in your 30s. Focus too much on women as the end-all be-all of happiness and you're bound to be left disappointed and possibly broke.

true fact
[–]Get_Stamosed -5 points-4 points-3 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Money doesn't buy happiness, it buys freedom and confidence, which inevitably lead to happiness in one way or another.
Basically money buy indirect happiness.
Money buys most anything, so you'll just tend to have more of what you started with. If you were a latent douche or angel, you'll come right out in full force either way. It probably won't change you for the better is what I'm saying.
[–]Get_Stamosed 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Agreed, but them your options are between being rich and unhappy or poor and unhappy. Pick your poison. I choose money either way.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I've been broke. I've been "rich". My happiness was the same either way. It's a state of mind, relying on stuff to make you happy is a zero sum game.
[–]Get_Stamosed 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
that's my point. I agree with you. When I'm wealthy, assuming that I am one day, I will still probably be unhappy, as I am a very depressed and unhappy person. There are intangible that come with money though.. Confidence, freedom, opportunity.. Would you agree?
Ah yes, I understand now -- agreed.
