5’8” here. Attractive and fit, 6-figure salary, established career…etc.. but on the shorter side. I can tell you being 5’8” online will get you screened out of 99% of matches. Yes 99%. Height, symmetry, and a pretty face is king online. Got it all but the height. Pulled my bumble stats and was batting .010. Terrible.

In real life. Total opposite. Batting closer to .500. I do very well in-person. I don’t even bother anymore online. My experience.

I’m 5’5” and am healthy workout have a good job and take a care of myself. If I’m at a bar with my taller friends if we talk to a group of girls the girls won’t even look at me haha. I’ll try and try to insert myself into the conversation but I’ve started to give up and now just sit there and keep to myself. I know it shouldn’t but it hurts my feelings because I know I’m a great guy.

It’s harder, but also it depends on the person you are and your location. You gotta respect yourself regardless. In my experience the more average women are big on height. Meanwhile, the beautiful woman will actually give you a shot 😆.

5'3" here, living in southern Italy.

I've been with 2 girls, both were "tall" like me, but taller girls also liked me (my first kiss was with a 6'0" girl lol).

So in my experience I can say that it's not that important, it's just a matter of knowing that some girls may have the preference for taller guys.

I personally use my features as a filter lmao, even if I'd feel better about myself if I was a little bit taller :')

And please, 5'7" guys, stop saying you're "short", because YOU'RE NOT...

Women almost always prefer taller guys but will often overlook that if you are high value. If you are short and low value then it’s pretty hard unless you significantly lower your standards

When I was in college, I learned to stop caring about my height, what others thought about me, and just continued to do me.

Sure I get overlooked (literally lol)...kinda sucks, but fuck it.

The one that gets me the most, is at work. People don't take short men seriously.

I think for a guy is 5'2 or shorter, things are even worse than they look. At that height most women are going to knock you for it and try to filter you out.

I'm 5'8 and it does make online dating harder but not too hard, it's do-able.

There are studies that show how important height is a preference for women, so being taller is a huge benefit, though obviously it's silly.

I’m short 5’7 but people tell me that I should be a model and have a great jawline somewhat frequently. I catch chicks staring at me in public and usually find a few chicks interested in me at work or school. I do feel like I would have much more attention from the opposite sex if I was taller. I’ve accepted the fact that i’m short and people seem to love my vibe even more.

But really as long as you’re around an inch or two taller you should be good.

I live in the US and used to live in the philippines where I’m like equivalent to 5’10 maybe even 6’ in some areas. It’s only till I moved where I noticed people treated me differently.

I knew a guy in a fraternity that was 5’1, he slept with over 70+ women and had never heard of game/pickup, it’s a disadvantage sure but if it bothers you that much you can get heel inserts that increase your height by 1-2 inches or even elevator boots, lately this place has been crawling with incels which is why you are probably seeing a lot of posts like that

It’s a matter of what guys are running these days as well, a lot of guys still practice old methods of game despite the fact there are better methods out there nowadays

I've come to realize that if you are not short yourself, you cannot really grasp what dating for short men feels like. It's one of those things that you have to see for yourself, no matter in what detail it's described to you. Let's just say that, if dating is a considered a numbers game, the numbers are terrible by default for short men. Not zero, but terrible.

One good thing however is that the older you get, the less important it gets, but then again, your dating pool will also be more limited

Everything worse than the ideal is basically a strike against you. So yes, being short (relative to other men in your area) is strike. Being ugly is another strike. Having no or bad personality is a strike, etc. Unfortunately, you can't really fix your height so focus on improving what you can.

That said, the amount of people who utterly disregard that it's a disadvantage (at least in the US) and invalidate people's experiences for being short is ridiculous. I have to say the people who do this (male and female) and then blame shorter men for having a bad attitude about it are part of the problem.

I would say online dating in the US is going to be a waste of time for most short guys

I’d have to slightly disagree with this. I’d say when a guy is taller women will make the fact that they’re interested more obvious. I’ve literally seen this irl. Especially when a guy is really tall (over 6’4”). Women just make things easier for them.

I'm not super short (1,77m or 5'9) but on the shorter side among my friends. And probably the skinniest lol Wasn't really an issue for me ever or any of the shorter kings I know.

I legitimately only know one woman personally who told me that she has a height requirement.

This is probably gonna get me some shit but I think 'short' can become a bit of a cope for some dudes. They think they're a catch but actually have the charisma and the charm of a magicarp. Then it's a convenient excuse to say that women just don't like short guys. Edit: I'm definitely below average height in my country

It depends where you are. If more than half are tall, then the shorter guys need to work a bit harder maybe. I live in South America, most of women are short and men are short too, as long as they’re taller than us (at least with heels) it’s enough. I’ve seen many couples like this and it’s normal. However, when I’ve lived abroad the “normal” height for me becomes shorter because im comparing with the men of that country

Yes and no. Yes because the majority of women claim it’s a preference and most use it as their one and only qualification for filtering matches from dating apps. I believe many women use their partners height as a way to compete with other women, whoever has the tallest boyfriend wins.

No because even though I’m 5 foot 7 I’ve had WAY more good looking girlfriends and hookups than any of my friends. I do feel I’d have even better luck if I were taller but when I stop and look at it objectively I have zero right to complain.

My roommate is a tiny asian woman in her 50s who INSISTS she’ll never date a man under 6ft 5 but she’s constantly sending me signals like she wants to fuck and every guy I’ve seen her get upset about or hung up on was average height. One even shorter than me.

So in conclusion I think IF women’s stated height preferences were legit, yeah short guys would be screwed but I believe those preferences are grossly overstated mainly for ego reasons.

Honestly not that bad. I'm 5'8" most girls are shorter than me anyway. Sure height is a factor the same way a nice bod or a killer smile is a factor but its best to not get hung up on it.

I think online there's too much competition and no real chance for personality to shine through, so physical traits then get more focus. I’ve been a spectator of this sub for about a year now but being a short man I feel the need to speak out on this subject. I’m 5’7 (23m), on the shorter side amongst my friends and even family and I haven’t really had an issue with pulling. I have women approach me at bars, clubs, parties and they even make the first move on dating apps (excluding bumble) all of which I have my height listed. I’ve had several LTR’s and dozens of one night stands. Tallest girl I’ve been with was 6’ and it was in a threesome with my gf at the time (who was 5’8) and I. Both were gorgeous blonde hair, blue eyed ladies. I’m dating two girls right now, both are 5’9. No I’m not rich or have it made, I come from a broken family and I’m currently putting myself through college. Just like everyone else I carry baggage and insecurities but the difference is I don’t carry that shit on my shoulders. When I’m anywhere sociable I’m exerting a fun/ charismatic energy that people are drawn to. I don’t make it about the women I make it solely on having a good time with thyself or the buddies and that’s when the women come. My friends that are 6’ or damn near are feeding off of my energy.

If you’re letting your height define you get off this sub and go to therapy, it’ll work wonders. The amount of incels that solely blame something as stupid as height for their lack of success is outrages. What’s a man’s excuse who is over 6’ that doesn’t get any tail? It’s definitely not the fact he’s under 6’.

I'm not terribly short. I'm average so I don't have the same issues that truely short guys have but I think you're dead wrong. I do think it is incredibly more difficult for short guys to get dates, especially on online dating where everything is about looks and status. And that thing about them not taking care of their hygiene or having a job is such a cheap way to discredit them.

There's been studies done on this that it doesn't matter what job a man has if he is under a certain height. Women will still find him undateable. There's a video on youtube for example that was made in the 90s where they line up a couple of guys behind a screen and a group of women have to rank them in attractiveness and obviously the short guy loses and the people doing the experiment asks them if it would matter if he's a high earning doctor and it doesn't.

There are also definitely a lot of ugly tall guys getting hot girls. I've been told that I am too short for 5'5 girls (I'm 6ft) and it's just getting worse. It is a real issue and just because people know one guy who's 5'7 and slays doesn't mean that everyone that height can.
