Thank you for repeating something I say over and over. I often see people in seddit asking what actors they should emulate, and what movies show useful seduction techniques. The answer is: none of them.

Movies are a completely artificial experience. Nothing in a movie is like real life. Your life is not a script you can edit and take a second shot at a scene. Your life is not full of actors that say and do the things you wrote in a script.

Hitchcock said, "drama is life with the dull parts cut out of it." So what are you going to do with your life during the dull parts? Fantasize that you are in a movie? Pretend you're George Clooney or Brad Pitt?

Life isn't a movie. However by no means should that stop you from being the hero of your own story. Live how you wanna live, do what you would like to do. This maybe cliche and over used but "life is not about the amount of breathes you take, but the moments that take your breathe away"

The problem is on both sides of the gender divide. How many of you have not heard a girl say "It was like in a movie!" Comsumption of cinema & TV also brings with it the expectation that 100% of people are of an extroverted personality type, and that discursive interaction is only a comic prop. The culture has become so image based, in the same way that people took up smoking during the industrial revolution out of imitation, now people get tattoos in order to bring their skin closer to being such a 'screen' for images.

This probably sounds stupid but it's amazing how many times I have to remind myself to stop visualizing myself seducing a girl like it's a movie scene and just trust that the principles of game will work. The stuff we are constantly exposed to (tv shows, movies, etc.) has a profound effect on our internal dialog. This is partly why I also gave up porn completely.

life isn't a movie in the way that conversations and encounters are never perfect and scripted in real life. people fumble over words, they mumble, they say dumb, irrelevant things, there are awkward moments, boring times, etc. i have a hard time talking with people because of my fear of these kinds of flaws and missteps. it's a hard life when you're a perfectionist.

I would add to this the "abundance in woman makes you a better man then anyone else" fallacy. A lot of guys think that your only as good as the number of girls you have sex with. This is not true. Live according to what you want out of life and not according to what you think other people view you as.

This is also especially destructive because the woman you bed could assume your in it for the long haul when eventually you will leave her heartbroken.

I recognize that this might not be particularly apropos to this forum/subreddit, but I really agree with what you're saying. One common flaw in thinking that I keep noticing is that people all assume that they're the main character in a story. That's just inaccurate to assume.

Just based on odds alone, you're not going to be the lone survivor of the zombie apocalypse, you're going to be a zombie shuffling toward the survivors. Hollywood has given us this faulty idea that if we make right decisions, we'll be awarded with a beautiful woman, like they're a cosmic reward for winning at... anything, I suppose. They aren't.

Though some things we see in movies/tv shows are really spot on as what we want to happen in our approaches, in the end it is scripted (and usually a 2-part effort from both characters).

Seddit has been having a few posts about Archer and Californication recently, but those are tv-shows, and unless we're talking about one liners, things happening exactly as scripted is almost impossible, since everyone is different. It's the same concept as those scripted talks we (I at least) think in our head will go, but that usually take sharp turns.

I concur with your post completely. I would also say the goal is to make it a movie. Movies are about average people who have extraordinary days. I believe that is half of seduction: Carpe Diem and living life to its fullest. In a sense, that feeling everyone wants from a film IRL can only happen when we decide to get off our asses and do stuff about the misery in the sewers. Could we then rephrase it to be that /r/seduction is a place where we can begin to live that movie atmosphere?

Life isn't an anime. Your integrity, being quiet, or distantness from what you think is being above the crowd is actually just you ostracizing yourself. Doesn't work in Asia, doesn't work here unless you're sexual at it; with the current statistics being released about virginity rates of men in Asia between the ages of 18-23 being something over 60% shows that due in part this is a popular resource for them, this idea doesn't work. That or I need to take a trip there and it seems they've found great self-fulfillment without having that one piece of getting your cock sucked constantly out of the picture.
