During the process make sure to start improving yourself especially in the looks department (hygiene, hairstyle, clothing and fitness are the top 4) then you will get a super boost of confidence from looking better then succeeding more with women as you get more experienced.
Agree, if you can see yourself in the mirror and go "i look great" and have that smirk on your face because of it then you're in a good spot. But it's important to know you can still improve, be it physically or mentally.

They hated Jesus because He told them the truth.
TBH I never learned to fail so I always assumed social people were born social and I wasn’t. A friend of mine told me he had to practice and mess up a lot in the past to get to where he is at. It sucks to start at age 25 but I have no choice but to start now.
[–]zincSF 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Excellent post. Great material and advice that I can’t imagine not being motivated by.
Even as someone still in my early 20’s, I regret not putting myself out there when I was young more. I let being called dumb or weird or creepy get to me when I was 14 and 15 and that put me behind. It’s harder to confidently tell a woman she’s gorgeous when you feel 3 years behind everyone your age, and women are a lot more likely to take it the wrong way when you’re both 20-25 than they were when you’re 13-18. Plus, when you’re in high school and even early in college, you don’t have a career, your friends aren’t mature, you aren’t supposed to “know better” than to call a girl pretty, and your perceived reputation is meaningless. Also, most of those girls are nothing to you in a few years.
I still have a lot of time to make mistakes, but I go on dates with some of the most beautiful women I can imagine, and I feel reliant on things that are more or less luck, like having the right “energy” and “vibe”. They’ll bring up going out again, but usually they aren’t hooked enough to put a ton of effort in. After those, you don’t know how much I wish I’d asked out some of those girls in high school who I thought were cute. Now I would never go out with them, but trying with them at the time could’ve really helped me down the road with some incredible women. Who cares what the people in my small town would’ve thought back then? Don’t let pride and ego get in your way or you’ll regret it in hindsight
[–]ZincMan 14 points15 points16 points 7 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link
I’m scared of approaching girls on the street. By the time I check them out enough to realize I’m actually physically attracted to them I already feel creepy/ they feel out of my league. That’s what’s holding me back! St least I’ll admit it ! I talk to strangers all the damn time and am quite social, just bad at approaching girls I actually consider “hot” also I’m 34 but look young. I guess I need to start approaching?
[–]byebyebyecycle 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link
That's already the wrong approach though, in my opinion. You are correct when you say you feel creepy doing so because that is creepy. Put yourself into an actual scenario where you can connect with a girl. Girls walking along the street are going somewhere, not trying to get hit on. They have other things in their minds when they're walking somewhere, like "I hope nobody fucking talks to me."
You just need to understand a bit of empathy in such situations. At a bar? Fuck yeah go talk to any girl, get rejected or don't but at least it's a place where being social is accepted. Or go somewhere that you like to go so at the very least you're not just walking up to a girl because you think she's hot, but also because she happens to be at a place you like to go. You can actually connect on something besides her looks.
All too often us men tend to think "well as long as I can be given the chance to explain I'm attracted to her and I'm not a creep" etc. You are 9 times out of 10 not gonna be given that chance, so you need to put yourself in a situation where you simply won't give off the slightest weird energy at all and she can feel comfortable first and foremost.
[–]TheJoeyJoeJoe 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Hey there Mr White Knight.
As someone who has developed many many relationships with girls I met on the street over the last 5+ years, allow me to inform you that you don't speak for all women.
[–]byebyebyecycle 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I didn't mean to speak for all, just from what I know. Of course there are exceptions, but I don't put all my money on exceptions. Go you, I think there are a handful of people who simply kick ass at approaching women that way, but y'all are rare.
[–]TheJoeyJoeJoe 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, well guess what.
Just as the OP explains...we all started out rubbish, but we weren't scared to make mistakes.
There's nothing wrong with stopping someone if they're walking somewhere to compliment them (and potentially transform their love lives). If they're in a rush, they'll let you know...and that's just fine.
[–]ZincMan 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hey! You are right in this and I appreciate your response. But also it’s ok to talk to girls on the street sometime! After posting my reply that same night I met a girl on the street, got her instagram and we agreed to grab a drink! The whole interaction went very well! So I’m still getting the awareness and feel of getting over my fear, but also getting the correct vibe from a girl of when it’s ok to approach on the street and when it’s not ...
[–]byebyebyecycle 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My dude that is awesome. I didn't mean to completely deter anybody from being so bold, I just see that scenario as more of an intermediate situation and maybe something more to work towards. Good shit!
[–]greenlittleman 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Reverse the situation.. So when you go somewhere and hot attractive girl stop you to chat a little because she likes you - then your only thought would be "omg, why you talking to me, you creepy woman"? Fck no. If you are normal guy then, even if you are really busy, you at least would be flattered and happy about this situation. Here you go, empathy master. If I consider myself attractive and what she win big time by being my girl then from her point of view she should be grateful to me for approaching her and giving her a chance to be with me.
[–]seduction_reaction 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
What if I don't drink so have no reason to hang around bars. And the girl I'm looking for has other hobbies than going to bars
[–][deleted] 7 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link
[–]seduction_reaction 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, but then what you said above applies there too. Girls in libraries are there to read or buy books , not get hit on. Girls playing sports are again there to play and not get hit on. At a gym, they are there to workout and not get hit on and so on.
If we go with your advice, there's literally no place to talk to random women unless they invite you into a social activity
[–]eht_amgine_enihcam 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
You can just fucking talk to them normally (since it's a social activity) and then if you vibe you ask them for lunch to get to know them better. Do this after a while of doing the activity unless she looks interested. I'm a weird fuck so I just talk to random women at the library and public transport anyway but it usually goes alright. I avoid talking to girls while they're working out at the gym, but if they're doing a similar exercise just ask them for a spot or some shit.
Cold approach style is also doable, but it seems hard for you. Social circle game is literally: make friends, be a leader in that group to get status, bang the chicks you're interested in.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
How do you establish that you’re a leader? I’m 5’9 skinny as hell, balding hair, quiet voice and no SMV...how exactly am I supposed to come off as a leader?
[–]eht_amgine_enihcam 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
People do naturally respect physical attributes more than you'd think. Height and muscle do matter a lot, so I'd recommend hitting the gym. I'm only 5'7-8'' but I weight 190ish with abs, and that's enough to get respected physically. Also, don't let people talk over you and have decent body language. Although people pretty much always assume the biggest loudest person is the leader at first, after a while you get respect through good decision making + winning social situations.
In groups, you actually need to be good at the activity that the group is based on. Even if you're pretty shy, if you're significantly better than everyone else at the activity people respect you for it. The activity usually has to be something that can get you girls tho.
Mind you, good looks help a lot more than most things. Social dominance probably puts you 2 points above where you would be normally, and you can probably get 1-2 more points if you dress and look after yourself well.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I have no earthly clue how to put on weight. I also have no clue how to do anything at a gym and can barely bench 70 lbs so I’m way too embarrassed to go to a gym
[–]Steelers4lyfe 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Dude I was the same way as you, I was skinny as fuck, and felt extremely self-conscious at the gym and in general. But you just gotta keep going, I can assure you that no one cares and the bigger guys will be impressed and happy for you that you’re trying to get bigger/stronger, because we’ve all been beginners. I believe in you!

Not just lack of experience let me tell you. This is what everything falls under : The self imposed limits we impose on ourselves every damn day. Do whatever you have to do to remove those fucking limits, PERIOD. They are going to end up holding you back and will make you regret most of your life. Which is how no one should live. That's pathetic and depressing. My 2¢
[–]gtrman571 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So true - The really hard part is I feel motivated at home, once I get to the venue I clam up... I'm approaching more though, and I've noticed that a lot of times I take a rejection as an existential crisis and I try to think about how hilarious that actually is which is helping I think.
[–]Least1ngenuity 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
what holds me back? my past. a decade of straight up being rejected, ignored or used. makes me often wonder why I even keep trying to fix things.

[+]NDragneel -6 points-5 points-4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Dude most men can't even do at least one of the 4 you mentioned. Most of you have already heard of 20/80 rule of attraction, that only 20 percent of men are actually attractive. This is one of the rules that I heavily disagree with because most men don't do these 4 you mentioned. If you do these 4 trust me, you're gonna be at least above average or if not very attractive. These are the easy parts in my opinion, girls often say they don't like a very muscular body but hell I've seen girls drool over a six pack man who looks perfectly fit. Remember an attractive man will never get used by girls, he's got options.
[–]adriano515 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agreed with most of it until
Remember an attractive man will never get used by girls, he's got options.
Absolutes are always bad. Abundance is key but there's plenty of attractive man who get used.

I can think back to so many cringe worthy moments in young adulthood where I learnt to socialise and just put myself out there, fuck I made a complete ass out of myself so many times.
But I wasn't just going to vanish into the background, I was going to get out there and learn, now I'm great in social situations, I've had girls fly from other the other hemisphere to come see me again, and I've got a few fuck buddies and a great girl I'm seeing now, with many reliable friends.
None of which I would have had if I didn't put myself out there to get rejected and learn form my mistakes.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Can you promise me I will get better?
[–]bemore_ 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's like you want your mommy to tell you there's no monsters under the bed
Nobody has a crystal ball, at the most you have imagination and that's probably all you'll need. All you can do is put yourself out there but know that whatever happens you will learn something. You have to go in with the students mentality
It's hard not to get better at anything you give time and attention. However experience is a quality not a quantity thing, it's the quality of your experiences that determines how good you get.. so you don't have to do 100 interactions to reach a certain place, it can all happen very quickly
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think my problem is that I don't know what I'm doing wrong thus not knowing what I have to improve.
I mean, you have to understand something to see the faults, don't you?
I've had girlfriends and a few flings, but I knew (almost) all of them as friends or through friends.
I don't know how to present myself to strangers.
Keep a journal. Analyze it. Go over where you fucked and think about other solutions , what are you going to try next time, what did or didn't work and why.
No. No one can make that promise, you have to accomplish it by yourself.
If you dont learn from the mistakes and experiences ... You WON'T get better.
If you decide the pain is too much and quit ... You WON'T get better.
If you're not willing to sacrifice something (you probably already know what part of you is keeping you from going out) in order to get better ... You WON'T get better.
Basically no one will help you for free, you have to grab your whiny ass out the fucking hole you dig yourself in.
[–]TheJoeyJoeJoe 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Just like any skill...if you practice enough times (and you're smart about your improvement) you'll get better.

Talking too much, and talking oneself right into the friend zone.
Something most guys still don't get, and refuse to see.
Guys, you have to know when to sell yourself, and then when to s.t.f.u.
There is another: Talking too much, and saying something verrry wrong.
The more you talk, the greater the risk you stand to disqualify yourself, by saying something irretrievable. Whether it's poltical, or religious, or you hate cats, or whatever.......

And without experience I think just following a set of rules is kinda wrong. Yes these rules apply most of the time but every girl is different, every situation is different.
Sometimes “alpha body language” looks cringy, sometimes touching a girl is inappropriate, sometimes you need to censor yourself a little bit as there might come a point you become too offensive.

Embrace the fuck-ups as a part of the journey, and know that each one is bringing you a step closer.
I’ll sometimes have moments where insecurities act up right before or in the middle of a set, starting the whole interaction off on the wrong foot and afterwards I’ll laugh at the ridiculousness of it, maybe write a short personal field report with a few pros and cons/do’s and don’ts if necessary, and immediately accept it as a forward-propelling act of momentum socially—especially contrasted with me not having done anything at all.
The fat slob tripping, waddling, and grunting his way across the track still laps the fatass on the couch watching family feud and munching on Doritos in his comfort zone of mediocrity.
Great results demand great effort, even more so if you’re not given a natural edge, and your attitude towards this is the key to your success.

[–]barronator 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
While I agree that experience is important, it's not everything. As you note, I was certainly one of the less social guys in my younger years. But I was willing to "fuck up" and pushed myself to be more social. Now as "future me" I've had sexual experiences with upwards of 70 women, with a much larger number of failures.
However, I still feel a bit socially inept. I still feel anxiety when approaching women. I still feel awkward as fuck just trying to make small talk with retail workers who are essentially paid to engage with me. I still spend the majority of my time alone.
I suppose what I'm getting at is that it's always going to be an uphill battle. It's always going to be a challenge. At least for me. But what's life without failure, rejection, challenge? I don't know anything else. But I do know that when the successes do come they taste all the sweeter.
We all want to say "it gets easier" but I'm not so sure. It doesn't get easier. But it does get better.
This os exactly what i need to read. It's always going to be hard, and thats ok

This is hard with someone with crippling social anxiety. I was nearly mute through out high school, not just with women. With everybody. I'm looking into a therapist now but I feel like I shouldn't compare myself with others since I have a larger hole to crawl out of.
[–]tanenbaum 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is an extremely useful mindset to have. On bad nights when you feel AA or everything is going to crap, think of taking action as an investment. You're not doing it for the immediate reactions. You're doing it so you're a bad mother fucker when you meet girls that you are even more into than the ones you've met that night. If you don't do anything on this given night you'll run into some super cute girl in a couple of years and you could have had her, but because you decided to not take action over the years you won't.
It's like knowing that you want to interview for your dream job next year. You can start the preparations now and be perfectly prepared. If you just postpone it till the day before the interview, you'll feel great regret. If you want a great future life, fail NOW.

I wasted my teens feeling unworthy and in my mid 20s I lost a ton of weight and started trying to date..I only went out on dates a few times. When i went out I am social and I can make girls laugh and they would think I'm cute, but never closed. Now, my younger brother, who is basically a hermit and is overweight..is going out with this girl he met online almost everyday, while I am stuck feeling like shit.
Life just really baffles me. I worked my ass off losing weight and I am putting in effort go be social and go out as often as I could, but who gets the girlfriend? The guy who never goes out and never tries talking to girls.
[–]TricksyTrampoline 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup sounds right.
I like to think I’m putting in time and practicing now for when an amazing girl does enter my life so I have the skills and experience not to fuck it up
I feel like it’s too late for me. I’m 31 years old and have been single for nearly 10 years. I’m so depressed from having no sex love and being a recovering porn addict that I don’t know what I should be working on. Even if I can go up and talk to a random girl, I have no idea what to say, what to do and it just feels so fruitless because what woman wants to be with a guy who has virtually no SMV? I let way too much time pass to get good with women that I’m now depressed because of it and I feel like any rejection is just goin to make me more depressed. Does anyone have any help? I’m so tired of being sexless and single
It’s true. I stayed inside so much during my earliest years, even though I had a friend or two and speaking to girls at a young age gave me confidence. I then stabbed myself in the back by staying in the house. After changing schools and upping my appearance, hygiene and fashion—women began to hover around me, check me out constantly, especially when they have boyfriends. The girl I had a crush on was so interested and so obvious she stared at me from across the table. Plain staring at me, and everywhere I went and saw her she stared and had that look all guys want. But I wasn’t socially experienced so I lost probably 35 (big school) opportunities in that on school and her

Better to fuck up in my 20s than to fuck up in my 30s. So I approached lots of girls, went under a little fatigue because I never really got sex or even a second date from it so far, so I took a break.
