My divorce is final as of last week. I had hoped I would feel some sense of relief but I don't. Between having to give her 1/2 my 401k, what was left from the sale of our house, and a huge chunk in alimony and child support every month I have no idea how I'm going to build a new life. I'm financially strapped and 0 extra money to date. Everyone says that I should be happy about the new feeling of being single and to move on but I'm terrified of where I'm at financially. I'm an indentured servant to her. I want to date but feel like there is no money for it. Have any of you felt like you lost so much financially on your divorce you could not build your new life? What kind of women is going to want a man that's 46 and struggling financially to support his ex wife. I really want to date but I'm afraid of how I will be perceived as a newly divorced. So much of my identity was wrapped up in my home and my family and the life that we had that I've completely lost who I really am. A total identity crisis.
