Lawyer who shamed barrister over "sexist" LinkedIn email believes men make workplaces a "repugnant world". If men and women were truly equal, she said, “men’s genitals would be sliced up” in the same way that some women are subjected to female genital mutilation (FGM).

Now women can use special apps to anonymously report “harassment” at work. Men won’t even know who their accuser is. Orwell would be proud.

. . . Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we already?

[–]Brodusgus 54 points55 points56 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You are correct. The day men are born.

Nah, they gave me 8 whole days.

Did you have a rabbi sexually assault you?. I'm sorry for your suffering. Hope you didn't get herpes. 😊

[–]rg57 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, yes, but if it was "in the same way" then those who do it would be imprisoned, rather than paid as they are today.

[–]geniice 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

Not in the UK. Since the NHS won't pay for it non medically required circumcision is largely limited to Jewish and Islamic communities.

[–]Hatsee 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

We don't pay for it in Canada either but it still gets done, cost was a few hundred last I checked.

[–]geniice 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Hmm greater US influence perhaps?

[–]Hatsee 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Perhaps, we're around the 30% mark for people with it last I looked. Clinics that do it aren't littered all over the place but they are easy to find online at least.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if your figures are acxurate, 30% is a shocking amount of people affected, is it not?

[–]gellis12 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Apparently it was free when I was born...

[–]Ferociouslmbecile -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's been on the decline in Canada for decades.

[–]garglemesh42 29 points30 points31 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Oh, so it is still legal, but NHS won't pay for it. Well, that makes it all better.

It makes it fairly uncommon. I'd certainly consider it progress.

Better chop off his kids ears so he doesnt have to teach him to clean behind them and rip out his finger nails... babies' fingernails are a motherfucker to clean. I dont even know how they get so dirty it isnt like you put your newborn in the garden to play.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not uncommon, and where is your proof of the decline? Even if its true its not due to men's right, nor a change in cultural acceptance, but purely to migration patterns of people.

[–]Ferociouslmbecile 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Canada and Australia and NZ too.

The US is the only white country where it's still popular.

[–]Rethgil -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Untrue. And you are confusing number of instances of it being done with cultural acceptance. One of the big issues is that fgm is seen as unacceptable even though it rarely happens compared to male mutilation in the US, UK, NZ or Australia. Meanwhile, even if figures were falling for male mutilation, it has not become any less acceptable in society.

[–]lawyerlady 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am Australian, and have had a son in the last 3 years. Yes it is becoming unacceptable socially. I am passionately against it. (Im a female and come from a a family of medical professionals who all are against it passionately so it has all been drummed into me for years.)

The figures are around 90% intact out here. You now how to seek a specialist peadiatric urologist. The OBGYN was clear that our hospital does not do it and does not condone it and would not provide a refferal.

When discussing it with other mothers, older generations insisted that i get my son circ. Younger ones were overwhelmingly against it for reasons other that the obstacles. A friend had to have her son circed for medical reasons and it really upset her because we are all being culturally swayed to believe it is wrong and that had been so deeply indoctroned in her that she struggled to accept the necessity in her sons case.

There is a reason I called it progress. Banning it for minors for non medicinal cases is the next step.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You talk about it as if jews in the UK amount only to a few small communities! Like anywhere else, they constitute a huge part of society, so therefore numbers of infant boys cut when young are also huge. Please dont spin to downplay the issue, it makes you look transparently like an SJW.

[–]MrDoradus 50 points51 points52 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm surprised every single time I read about what kind of twisted individuals are given platform to spew their malicious thoughts in the name of "equality", or as she better put it women's superiority.

She belongs in a mental institution and shouldn't be roaming free, much less should she be a writer for anything. Jeez, how do people fail to realize her lunacy?

[–]jb_trp 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He gave her a compliment. She went batshit crazy and is using it for media exposure. Lunacy, maybe, but I think she knows what she's doing because it's working...

It's funny that this guy gave his own daughter any even more "suggestive" compliment ("She's hot!!!"). He's just a overly-friendly old man from a different era with no filter. If his compliment is all it takes to "oppress" Charlotte Proudman then she is too easily oppressed.

[–]bertreapot 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think a lot of old-school men still feel it is appropriate to compliment women on their looks, whether they look good or not. I never have done this, but I don't think it makes a man sexist to do so.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would complement someone on their general appearance, including clothes or make up and hair, whether they are male or female. I only fear the responses of females. This says a lot.

You know she probably doesn't date men, if she does they are beta as fuck. She will more than likely end up forever alone with a dozen cats in a 1 bedroom apartment hating men.

[–]foxyramirez 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Given her career, my guess is that she would find a rich fellow among her clientele, stick it out for a year or so, maybe even have a kid so she can suck the life out of him for a long as possible after the planned divorce.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah, she'll get hired by some expensive law firm, then sue them for not letting her wear a boiler suit to work for gender oppression and retire on the cash to spend the rest of her lonely days spewing her hate in poorly written feminist books.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points36 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Except FGM is illegal and MGM is common.

[–]GHGCottage 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, she knows that. She's flaunting her power as a feminist to clearly and publicly claim things are the opposite of reality and have everyone be too frightened to contradict her.

[–]rusty890 25 points26 points27 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This woman is an example of everything that is wrong with feminism. Also, she has the most ironic name of the year considering how much she hates men. It's almost as if, given her name, she is some kind of parody written by Monty Python.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And she's British, dont forget that-things are going to hell FAST in the UK, so we need to pull together to stop the level of what happened in America happening here.

[–]IronWolve 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

His remarks are the most sexist thing she has ever seen?

He has since apologised for the message, in which he told Ms Proudman he was “delighted to connect”, adding “I appreciate that this is probably horrendously politically incorrect but that is a stunning picture !!!”

This? "Stunning Picture" comment is the worst sexism of all time?

I bet she is indeed a great lawyer with her over acting abilities.

[–]SigmundFloyd76 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

So he was complimenting her in the most respectful way he could; a stunning picture. He didn't say "you look beautiful", or even specifically mention her; he said the picture was stunning.

Please God she never gets offered a Judgeship. I assume she doesn't think reverse sexism is a thing, buys completely into the Duluth model and thinks she gets paid $77 dollars per hour while her male collages are paid $100.

Why is it when an SJW or a feminist calls "oppression", however unreasonable, nobody ever says shit. It's "I'm sorry, we're sorry" and never "Oh shut the fuck up you uptight bitch, don't be so fucking obtuse"

I bet the poor bastard had to make a public apology. Tears and all.

[–]geniice 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

[+]geniice -11 points-10 points-9 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

warm-hearted and conscientious gentleman

Heh is that what we call "hitting on someone young enough to be your daughter" now? Eh well I'm getting old can't keep up with all the euphemisms any more.

[–]SigmundFloyd76 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Was he hitting on her really? Perhaps he felt safe in the knowledge that the difference in age would imply his intentions were strictly innocent?

Complimenting someone doesn't equal "hitting on them".

How would it have been different if they were of a similar vintage? Or if he happened to be a more attractive and desirable mate in the eyes of the "victim" I wonder.

[–]BeetrootRelish 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do we only compliment people we want to have sex with now? What a shallow world we've come to live in.

However, it emerged yesterday that the award-winning human rights barrister has commented on pictures of men on Facebook herself to praise their looks.

She also told female friends they looked ‘sexy’ and ‘stunning’ – the same word used by Mr Carter-Silk.

On the profile of a postgraduate student at Cambridge, where Miss Proudman is on sabbatical from her chambers to study for a PhD, she wrote: ‘Hot stuff!’, while under an image of a long-haired male friend, she wrote: ‘oooo lalala!’

Beneath photos from women, she was also happy to compliment their looks, saying to different friends: ‘Oh ladies, wowwweeeeee!!!!!!’, ‘wow! stunning!!!!’ and ‘Sexy lady!’

The average American male has undergone genital mutilation for decades. God I hate feminists.

[–]James_Starkk 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But you don't understand how hard it is to have your genitals mutilated against your will.....I forgot where I was never mind. Women should be allowed to be slapped upside the head for saying something so blatantly retarded. She has to literally be mentally deficient to say something like that when I'd say most little boys don't know what their dicks looked like before being cut up, and those that aren't are ridiculed for have a normal ones. I'm also guessing to say something that stupid she also doesn't realize it's called female circumcision because for them it's rare and for us it's the shitty first week of life.

To then show boat what she did, just showed how sad she is.

The fact that they have no comments on the article pissed me off. I won't be visiting that newspaper anymore. If they don't have the balls to have people call them out of blatantly biased and sexist articles they can fuck off.

[–]Ted8367 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That article was a superb piece of snark.

“Whilst I should not encourage lascivious comments about my daughter…Yeee gods she is hot!!” Ellie Carter-Silk, a personal trainer, is the same age as Miss Proudman.

[–]RunawayGrain 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some of these feminist chicks that propose camps for men, and all manner of mutilation are just so hateful that it flips over onto the other side of the scale into funny. Except not so much.

You know, I'd like to see a take off on "It's a Wonderful Life" called "It's a Feminist Life." So the plot is that Georgette is a raging feminist who is going to jump off a bridge because she believes men have made her life so hard, when her guardian angel Clarence shows up and tries to convince her to stop. Since he looks like a male she naturally refers to the angel as a chauvinist pig who is trying to enforce his will on her. At that moment Clarence decides to give her what she wants.

So he creates an alternate reality with no men. The bridge fades out and she drops into the river. The bridge and Bedford Falls, for that matter, no longer exist and only a handful of makeshift huts are in their place. None of the modern conveniences exist, and Georgette gets the shit kicked out of her by the band of amazons in the huts before she starts screaming for Clarence. Except Clarence is male, and doesn't exist here.

So Clara, the guardian angel for this new reality shows up. Clara is pretty disgusted by the scene in front of her, and instead of helping, rips Georgette a new one, then vanishes. Back in our reality, Clarence has figured out how much easier his life is without her, since he doesn't have to save her from her own bitchy attitude several times each hour. Our parting shot is Clarence enjoying a beer with a happy grin on his face.

The same logic can be applied to the Holocaust. 6 million people the Nazis didn't like (Jews, Romanians, people who weren't them) died so 6 million other people should die. These people are fucking twisted, I usually don't say this, but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

[–]kalyissa 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Everytime they try to make MGM illegal in Europe the backlash from jewish and Muslim communities is huge. In my opinion any kind of Genital mutilation should be illegal completely.

[–]192873982 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You are right. We should stop being tolerant, where the tolerance hurts innocent people.

[–]kalyissa 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Agreed, sadly political correctness in the west means you can't speak out against these because it is considered "racist"

[–]192873982 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then political correctness must die. Please defend politically incorrect statements even (and especially) if they are against you.

I have the opinion that racism is a symptom of political failures, and that the racism will be resolved only by fixing these failures. Suppressing racism will not reduce it, but only make it invisible. Suppressing racism will even make racism worse, because then the racists opinion is never challenged against other opinions, but only strengthened by racist groups that discuss their topics in secret.

Well around 700 million men around the world have mutilated genitals, compared to around 125 million females.

How is that possible, when there are more than 1.5 billion muslims, plus most of the USA and a significant part of Canada. There should be at least 1.7 billion circumcised men, which is more than 10 times the amount of circumcised females, if your number for females was right.

You have to divide the total number of Muslims by 2 — as only half are male unless I'm missing something!

But you could well be right. Also need to add in most of African men, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Israel, most Christians in the Middle East, etc. etc.

Oh, you're right, I messed this up.

So let's say there are at the very least 900 Million mutilated men, namely 750 Million muslim men and 150 Million in America.

This is still more than 7 times the amount of mutilated women.

Remind me never to let you work-out how to split the bill at a restaurant… 😄😄

Still not correct — you are out by a factor of 10. We are talking hundreds of millions; not thousands.

But it has to be more than 700 million as you say — maybe considerably more.

You definitely should let me pay at the restaurant, when it leads to a 1000 times lower prize. I'm going to correct my post.

I don't think I know any American males who aren't circumcised. It is done shortly after birth.

You know what? This pleases me.

I am genuinely happy to see that the sort of person who takes issue with a comment like the one she received is no representation of the average woman, and can be clearly shown to be a fringe lunatic.

This is great news.

Wait he made a pass? This makes him the most evil man in world?

It's not like they had a professional relationship.

At least she shows her true colors. It would be worse if she were to not be obvious about how much she hates men. Now employers know she is an extremely toxic person and they can avoid her.

That father is honest about his daughter being hot. What a total bro. I'd high five the man.

compare the number of women in the world to the number of women who had their genitalia surgically altered, to the number of women who had their genitalia surgically altered against their wish.

I bet you , it is a really high percentage of women who run around with altered genitalia, but in total, a really low number of them had their genitaliua altered against their own wishes.

In men, you have an allmost as significant number of men running around with surgically altered genitalia ( and it would be more if they had surgery to make it bigger / longer / ect), but our percentage of people who had their genitalia altered against their wish is significant, because most genitalia surgically altered in males is done so at an agen where a man would not be able to legally consent.

( Not counting cases where surgical alteration of genitalia is considered medical necessity)

Nothing to see here. The British right wing press jumped on a small spat and blew it out of proportion. Best thing to do is not provide any coverage to this kind of story.

It's the "best thing" if what you're trying to accomplish is to cover up the hatred that pervades feminism. We're not about that.
