I know, right? Do people not realize that giving a link like this literally helps them continue to pump out garbage?

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It maybe even motivates them to do outrageous stuff in the sole purpose of getting angry people in.

Interestingly I posted a similar thought re the Daily Mail and was torn to shreds.

[–]NightmareInn 281 points282 points283 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

The Guardian is a disgusting publication. They have sacrificed all of their credibility on the altar of feminism. The Guardian now has the credibility of Jezebel. Good job editors.

[–]iburiedmyshovel 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This article is three years old, and while wrong in its minimization and codification of male circumcision in both western and African cultures, is also a symptom of the fervent and explosive opposition to FGM of the time. Activists sought to bring the practice under the scrutiny of western society, but in attempting to ensure enough power to effect change, they overstated the issue, for the sake of concerted interest.

This article is critical of that overwrought viewpoint, and while it doesn't resolve the normalization of male circumcision wrought by the anti-FGM campaign, it at least asserts a view grounded in reality. It removes women from one of their perpetual victimhood pillars, while denouncing the hysteria that causes it.

[–]NightmareInn 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Anyone who would cut a little boy's dick is a sadistic pervert. And should be arrested and charged.

[–]iburiedmyshovel 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I think it's interesting that women are so acutely and actively engaged with denouncing societal standards for female body image, despite perpetuating that image, both individually (through selective participation - e.g. disavowing size ideals, but wearing makeup daily; and paradoxically, the reassertion of image ideals - e.g. real women have curves) and collectively (by marketing those ideals to their peers). Whatever the standard, they have control. However, when it comes to men, there is an accepted, explicit position that they are inherently born inadequate and should be surgically altered. The nature of sexual physiology is such that women perpetually retain power, and so the cessation of genital alteration on boys isn't going to end until they overcome that bias. Until then, American boys will be subject to lifelong sexual degradation (be it to pleasure, by the act of circumcision, or dignity, by the rejection of their native state).

Edit: My point is that the culprit to every societal ill, according to feminism, is "the patriarchy," but when it comes to body image, women are directly in control of the status quo, for both genders. Feminism denies that agency and responsibility, and thereby directly impedes progress. So often I hear the question of why combating third wave feminism is so central to MRA's, and this is a prime example.

[–]ISOanexplanation 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Excellent points. Thank you.

[–]ISOanexplanation 184 points185 points186 points 8 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Oh dear.

"Type one FGM would be like removing a male’s testes, type three is equivalent to removing both the testes and the penis. There is no way that would be deemed acceptable," says Taina Bien Aime, director of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, who adds that comparisons between male and female circumcision are unhelpful.

So comparisons between male and female circumcision are unhelpful but your absolutely ridiculous anatomical comparisons between FGM and castration or complete emasculation, those are totes legit. Got it.

[–]Consilio_et_Animis 56 points57 points58 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

comparisons between male and female circumcision are unhelpful.

Here you go LOL:

NSFL: This is a young African male "becoming a man"

And here is an 11 year old boy undergoing the same abuse:

NSFL: Jump to 14:45 to watch a young African boy having his penis skinned and mutilated. Watch all the way to 16:40 to see the "circumcision"

NSFL: More abuse

NSFL: Mass sexual abuse & mutilation of boys

Millions of African men have their penises mutilated in this manner, and this is how they end-up. NSFL:

http://www.ulwaluko.co.za/Photos.html

Hundreds of black boys and men die every year from this genital mutilation:

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-12/15/c_135908392.htm

...but don't worry — it's "nothing like female genital mutilation".

[–]rocko7927 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seen that first one a few times in the past, always amazes me how they really don't show any pain at all. I believe that if they show pain they are kicked out/not granted full manhood from those around them.
This is actually pretty similar to the bullet ant gloves some tribes do but with more cringing.

On a different note, in the US most circumcisions are finished just below the head so in Africa where they cut almost all the way to the base of the shaft, do they experience problems with erections? That skin will most likely harden causing peyronies disease or complete erectile dysfunction. And that's not even mentioning the amount of disease/infection this would bring off from living in less than sanitary conditions.

Edit: just saw the infected wounds link that you put in, that was pretty much what i was thinking would happen.

I didn't know what NSFL meant when I clicked on the videos.

Goddamn! I thought the MGM clip shown in the Red Pill documentary was the most brutal.

[–]TorontoIntactivist 98 points99 points100 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

who adds that comparisons between male and female circumcision are unhelpful.

Translation: Anything that interferes with the narrative could be bad for business.

Showing the similarities between MGM and FGM would actually help to develop empathy between the sexes and build bridges between the two movements.

Type one FGM would be like removing a male’s testes, type three is equivalent to removing both the testes and the penis.

Absurd. She's either a complete idiot (doubtful) or lying through her teeth.

[–]Draggonzz 57 points58 points59 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, that's just....ugh. Testes are sexually homologous to the ovaries. Is there female circumcision that removes that ovaries!?

[–]torrentfox 40 points41 points42 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that would be sterilization, so... no.

The most common type of FGM is the removal of the clitoral hood, which is directly analogous to the foreskin. I just can't even fathom how people fail to understand why removing a significant part of a sensory organ might be a terrible thing to do to another person.

[–]Shanguerrilla 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just can't even fathom how people fail to understand why removing a significant part of a sensory organ might be a terrible thing to do to another person.

Or at least if it isn't terrible to mutilate boys along with girls.. how removing a females genital hood might be at least emotionally analogous in some way to removing a males foreskin...

[–]Avannar 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Worth noting prevalence varies by area and culture. Some peoples remove the entire clitoris, which would be like removing the entire glans of the penis. Others remove the clitoris and most of the labia to reduce everything to a small hole, which is somewhat harder to compare to. Perhaps a partial penectomy.

[–]boxsterguy 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absurd. She's either a complete idiot (doubtful) or lying through her teeth.

Why not both? It's pretty clear she is a complete and utter moron, but she might also be intentionally lying.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Removing a mans testes would be the equivalent of removing a woman's ovaries. That's not type 1 FGM.

Admittedly, the forms of FGM that remove the entire clitoris, and mutilate the inner and outer labia are definitely more severe than typical male genital mutilation.

What isn't helpful is ranking acceptable forms of genital mutilation based on severity. Iirc there are ceremonial forms of FGM that are almost nothing more than a pin-prick and done symbolically, which is far less severe than typical male genital mutilation common to the USA... but that is irrelevant: cutting babies/children's genitals is unacceptable.

[–]Luchadorgreen 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh my GOD. This can't be pure stupidity, the person wouldn' t be able to form a coherent sentence if that's the case. This person is just dishonest as fck.

[–]Revoran 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Not to mention it is incredibly insulting to actual victims of castration.

Castration was common in Europe and Asia for thousands of years. The last Catholic castrato died in 1922. Castration was used as a punishment for gay men in the west in the first half of the 20th century. It is still used today as a punishment for male sex offenders in the Czech Republic, and is inflicted on boy sex slaves in South Asia.

[–]loddfavne 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

absolutely ridiculous anatomical comparisons

I really love it when people without medical knowledge starts to talk about anatomy. This is even worse than the misconceptions japanese male virigins have about female anatomy.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She's not wrong about the anatomy. Look up scrotal and penile formation in the fetus.

[–]ISOanexplanation 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm fully aware that the same embryonic cells that become the skin of the scrotal sac in males become the labia minora in females. Get back with me when ovaries start dropping into those labia and are removed during FGM.

The main reason so many of us have become ex-feminists and support many MRA positions is precisely what this quoted "expert" and you are doing. That is simultaneously exaggerating any female suffering and downplaying, even mocking any male suffering. Feminists do this with all of their favorite complaints like domestic violence, rape and genital mutilation. And when none of these turn out to be the men-bad-women-good issues that feminists claim they are, feminists start screeching that to even notice that means you hate women. The lopsidedly sexist nature of the modern western 3rd-wave feminist narrative is there for all to see now and the backlash has just begun. Claiming that we're all bigots or Trump voters will not serve you in the end. You have become the bigots in your single-minded pursuit of new micro-aggressions in a war that was won in the west during the last century.

Nice user name by the way. I resisted the urge to refer to you by it.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry, just saw this silly comment of yours.

I'm fully aware that the same embryonic cells that become the skin of the scrotal sac in males become the labia minora in females. Get back with me when ovaries start dropping into those labia and are removed during FGM.

Sorry, testes are not removed as part of penile circumcision. Get back with me after you learn about what you're talking about.

Claiming that we're all bigots or Trump voters will not serve you in the end.

I made no such claim. Wow, irrational and triggered much?! You the real feminist here.

You have become the bigots in your single-minded pursuit of new micro-aggressions in a war that was won in the west during the last century.

Uh no, I haven't become a bigot, nor have I pursued - singlemindedly or otherwise - new micro-aggressions.

Man. You really are the real feminist wack job here! Get the fuck out of my subreddit.

I’ll take my 185 upvotes in this thread over your zero any time. Here in “your” subreddit where you defended a feminist’s nonsense claiming FGM is the equivalent of castration.

[–]dukunt 146 points147 points148 points 8 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Im circumcised. As an uncircumcised friend pointed out, the foreskin covers the head of the penis keeping it sensitive. When you are circumcised, the penis head constantly rubs against the fabric of your clothes desensitizing it. I know that im not as sensitive as I used to be. I miss my foreskin.

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points39 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]boxsterguy 34 points35 points36 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You can get some of it back. See /r/foreskin_restoration. You won't regrow the tens of thousands of missing nerves and such, but you can at least get back a protective covering that will over time allow the glans to slough off old keratinization and return sensitivity.

Even if that was true, which it isn't, but for the sake of argument let's say it is. That doesn't matter. You shouldn't infringe on the basic human rights of an infant by mutilating their genitals for ritual, religious, social or cosmetic reasons.

What's so fucking hard to understand? Don't mutilate children's genitals. Period.

[–]surfer_ryan 35 points36 points37 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is the ones men's rights thing I can get behind... I mean I've talked to dozens of people who think this should 100% still be a thing for males but I say oh well let's just start doing it to women everyone loses their minds. This is probably one of the biggest double standards in our society for men.

You know your country has some issues when even the medically certified people encourage useless genital mutilation

[–]_shikaka 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes it's quite disturbing. This was the best obgyn in town as well, obviously aside from this. The issues my ex had weren't physically obvious and it didn't ruin our sex life or anything BUT they were very frustrating for him and took a mental toll on him too

[–]torrentfox 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

you're a decent person

[–]doneddat 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Welcome to earth, where the bar of decency is at "don't cut off parts from defenseless babies" DESPITE of authority figures pressure to do so.

[–]_shikaka 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The only reason I was considering it was because he was bringing out figures around reducing STDs and foreskin infections. Then I thought maybe my sons foreskin was abnormally small because it didn't seem big enough to be something you would cut off. Also I wasn't comfortable with the fact that they have a window they won't perform it outside of in case the child remembers it. In hindsight the whole thing was quite disturbing. I personally find it somewhat more frightening than FGM even though I have a vagina myself lol because of how accepted it is culturally here :(

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hey, you could tell him about Foregen.(/r/Foregen)

I would but he is back in rural Ghana with no internet. Also he is a bit older than me and doesn't really do the whole social media thing. I'll keep note of this sub though, thanks.

[–]qemist 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Since FGM is defined as any cutting of the female genitalia it is obvious that FGM might inhibit sexual pleasure or it might not.

I think one has to look at the mechanisms of pleasure too. Not gonna gross people out but like... the foreskin is part of the mechanism. Use your imagination, some sexual acts require a foreskin! You can't do them without one. End of story...

I've heard guys saying that they can shoot by just messing with the "banjo string". I don't have a "banjo string", so this alone bespeaks how damaging circumcision can be.

[–]Droidarc 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My family celebrated my circumcision like a wedding. It's a tradition around here so every man i know is circumcised. When i try to argue with some people about our circumcision, they tell me it's for our health.

[–]rocko7927 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just bring up about how lots of babies die from the procedure, some lose their penis, many are infected, and that it scientifically has zero health benefits in the modern world. In the past it was used to keep the penis clean do to a lack of fresh water but now-a-days you can just shower.

[–]Singulaire 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Moses Maimonides, probably the single biggest authority on Jewish tradition in all of history, disagrees with this assertion.

[–]ARedthorn 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The breakdown of types of FGM in this article are... only loosely correct.

Type 1a is removal of the clitoral hood only Type 1b is removal of the clitoris Type 2a is removal of the labia minora Type 2b is removal of the labia minora and clitoris Type 2c is removal of the labia majora and clitoris Type 3a is the sealing of the labia minora Type 3b is the sealing of the labia majora Type 4 is everything else

1 is nowhere near equivalent to the removal of the testicles- 3 is. 1a is (roughly) equivalent to circumcision, and 1b is roughly equivalent to damaging or cutting the glans off entirely (which happens sometimes by accident during circumcision).

Basically, they're taking the worst forms of each type and saying that they're the whole thing.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Keep in mind that "Female Genital Mutilation" includes anything and everything from cutting off the clitoris and stitching the vulva shut, to a ritual pinprick bloodletting.

When people use the term FGM as if it means only the most extreme examples, they're either expressing shocking ignorance on the subject, or deliberate dishonesty.

I'll preface this by saying that I've been following the Men's Rights Movement for some time and I agree with a lot of the core concepts. That being said I don't feel that this is one of the big issues we should be focusing on. I think we all know that having a circumcised penis isn't the end of pleasure. Does it inhibit pleasure? Probably. But maybe we should focus on more glaring issues for now and try to move ahead slowly and reasonably. Divorce, Prison Sentences, and the countering some of the more ridiculous claims of feminist ideology. It's a slow crawl up. I'd like to see this very worthy movement apply reason and take our time in light of a society that just isn't ready to hear us yet.

Edit: Mainly my point is that women aren't the enemy. I would really hate for that to become our Mantra.

[–]Luchadorgreen 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not about the severity of this violation, although there is a whole lot to be said about that. It's because it's such an obviously, glaringly blatant form of discrimination against men. It's an easy way to show people who are "blue-pilled" about men's rights that there is systemic discrimination against men and that if we can't even get most of society to care things that are obvious like this, we won't be able to make headway about other things that are black-and-white.

That being said I don't feel that this is one of the big issues we should be focusing on.

Socially accepted, defended and encouraged mutilation of males at their most defenseless (infancy) isn't a big issue we should focus on?

Get out of here.

I think we all know that having a circumcised penis isn't the end of pleasure.

Seriously, get out. It's not all about pleasure. It's about MUTILATING CHILDREN. It just so happens that said mutilation of children has adverse effects as well. Making it even more awful, but even at the base level of "strap a baby down and chop a healthy, natural part of their body off for no reason" is enough for this to be a focus of men's rights movements and anyone that cares about equality and basic human rights.

reasonably.

What is more reasonable than letting all human beings have genital integrity, and let them decide what they want to do with their body when they are 18 years of age? That's the most reasonable sentiment to any rational human being.

Edit: Mainly my point is that women aren't the enemy. I would really hate for that to become our Mantra.

Fuck does that have to do with anything? Men hold up MGM just as much as women do.

But maybe we should focus on more glaring issues for now and try to move ahead slowly and reasonably.

Glaring to who? Sounds to me like you're saying: "focus on things I care about/affect me negatively". Well, as a gay man I have very little to worry about divorce, female on male rape, family court etc. Why should I care about issues that you think are important?

The answer to that is simple: I have empathy for the suffering of others and I care deeply about every violation of the rights of men. Genital mutilation of male children is one of the biggest human rights violations I can think of happening in the US today. And not only is it happening, it's disgustingly endemic to American culture.

[–]Gambizzle 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Mainly my point is that women aren't the enemy. I would really hate for that to become our Mantra.

Agreed. I mean the issue with female genital mutilation is that you are basically cutting off somebody's clit (rather than a bit of skin). This is extremely dangerous, it removes most women's g-spot and it is all done underground because it's illegal.

Opposing female genital mutilation don't have to mean ignoring male issues. Sometimes people are just trying to fight their own battles. Criticising them for doing so (in a legitimate manner) doesn't add anything to the argument and just makes men sound like bitter arseholes who hate women.

The male prepuce is not a "bit of skin" (NSFW)

Additionally, all forms of female genital cutting in the US have been specifically illegal for 20 years, even forms that do not remove any tissue.

Male children can have a massive amount of specialized sensory nerve endings, muscle tissue, the frenulum, and the ridged band crushed and sliced off. Meanwhile so much as making a tiny "nick" on a girl's clitoral hood is a federal crime. This is the actual situation.

I myself am growing weary of having to correct the same misconceptions about this issue, over and over again, though I'm not going to stop.

a bit of skin

Sure, LOL: 😜

Male circumcision causes terrible damage to the male penis, and psychological problems that can last a lifetime.

In western Europe there is now a growing movement to outlaw it as genital mutilation, on a par with FGM.

Circumcision ablates the most sensitive parts of the penis.

the issue with female genital mutilation is that you are basically cutting off somebody's clit

The most common forms of FGM don't do that.

rather than a bit of skin

The prepuce is 'a bit of skin' the same way that eyelids or lips are 'bits of skin'.

it removes most women's g-spot

What form of FGM damages tissue several inches inside the vagina???

This is extremely dangerous, ... and it is all done underground because it's illegal.

The second causes the first - if FGM were legal it would happen in hospitals and wouldn't be very dangerous, and if MGM was illegal it would be done underground as well.

Opposing female genital mutilation don't have to mean ignoring male issues.

I have no problem with that, but in this case they brought up a male issue and they made the comparison.

If the NAACP want to only help black people, fine. If they start saying things like "unlike Native Americans, African Americans were historically oppressed", then they're both full of shit and are making it harder for the NACF to help the people they're trying to help. That kind of thing needs to be opposed.

Criticising them for doing so (in a legitimate manner) doesn't add anything to the argument and just makes men sound like bitter arseholes who hate women.

So when they're wrong and undermining our efforts we still can't criticize them without being misogynists? This is probably the core psychological issue that MRAs face - equal treatment for men and women (to many people) feels like mistreatment of women.

But maybe we should focus on more glaring issues for now

If you can't get people to empathize with newborn boys having body parts amputated without proper pain control on the whim of others, then how on Earth do you expect to get them to empathize with adult men who have to pay alimony?

[–]Kravego -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you, but you should know that to this sub, circumcision is on par with if not more important than male suicide rates, sexism in family court, unfounded sexual assault allegations, and literally everything else impacting men today.

My $0.02: Circumcision is important, although the least of the issues men face. Additionally, circumcision is falling out of favor all over the globe (even in the US), and many western countries are in the single digits percentage-wise. It needs to be illegal, but if I had to choose between any other issue and this, this would lose hard.

[–]CreeperCooper 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But the argument against male circumcision isn't about sexual pleasure at all.

It's about consent (which the kid didn't give), it's about forcing religion or a tradition on a child who didn't agree with it. It's about lying to people:"No skin is a lot more clean!".

Bitch, living in the west means the average male showers, what, 5 times a week on average?

It's about forcing these babies into something they didn't agree with, and then telling everyone it's totally normal and fine. It's about taking away choice.

This is akin to a woman saying "Am I the only one that likes my labiaplasty". There is a difference between being okay with the result yourself and being okay with forcing it on others against their will.

To support infant circumcision is to support the death of 100+ baby boys a year in the US alone and it's support of only women having bodily autonomy.

One being worse does not make the other okay. Stopping male genital mutilations has no adverse effects on women so bringing women's issues into the debate is pointless. It's bad for men and has no positive effect on women so it should be banned.

You say it hasn't affected you negatively (a questionable claim given that some of the feeling is supposed to be in the foreskin itself, but whatever). That's great. Women who think they have a problematic sex life because of the circumcision should go see a doctor instead of blaming the practice. “I have only sweet memories attached to the day when I was taken for the procedure. My mother and I bonded, the same way my daughter and I did when she was circumcised,” she said, questioning the veracity of the few women who are “pointing fingers at the 1,400-year-old practice”.

Lol are you a troll or something? Circumcision isn't really known to effect penile size so saying you have a big dick is completely irrelevant and probably false. Cutting a piece off of your child just to look like you is a selfish and stupid mindset, if you where born without an ear would you have for son's ear cut off just so you match? It's not like he will end up looking at your penis and going "Dad why can't mine look like yours?"
Clearly you have zero reasoning behind your decisions and you should allow your child to make his own decisions in life about his body when he is of age to understand it.

First off, I can't really take you seriously when your username is "abigstarwarsfan"
On to your actual comment, saying something along the lines of "make more than you do I am sure" is a completely irrational thing to say as some people live very happily on a medium wage while others (like you) believe that having a large wage equates to a happy life, on top of that how can you be sure? I could be Bill Gates and you would never know.
Next we have the penis size subject, oh boy. As a man with a larger than average penis size (check BDP) I can fully say that you swinging a "big ass nine inch" is not only most likely very exaggerated it isn't really a blessing to your wife as very few women would be able to take something that large.
"White night" Lol. Also no, not really a white knight just that you seem like a complete retard.
You talked multiple times about me thinking too much about baby dick. I'm not the one who thinks that they need their sons dick to look like their own. Sounds to me like you think about baby dick so much that you fantasize about your child having your penis size and shape, which is really fucking weird dude.

Lot of salty ant eater dicks in this thread. Can't even announce my happiness and satisfaction with my circumsized penis without getting downvoted into oblivion. Guess this subreddit is an echo chamber and no one wants to hear anything that goes against what they believe or think.

Someone is actually happy with their "mutilated" penis gasp.

You guys are starting to sound like Anti Vaxxers especially since people are getting upset, replying to me with salty comments and downvoting me if I dare say I'm happy with it.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I had "circumcision" forced on me as a baby and oppose it. It's not all about you and your feelings.

If I were to have had my arms removed at birth for no reason and was fine without them, does that justify forcing that on others? No that's stupid. So why this?

If you're happy, good for you. No one gives a fuck. This is about forcing it on children against their will. That's wrong.

Plenty of women who have undergone FGM are perfectly happy too. And yet that's illegal and morally and socially abhorrent to the western society. Despite those women wanting to do it to their daughters and being happy with it.

It's almost like forcing these things on any child is an infringement on their basic human rights and you being "happy" you were mutilated as a baby is irrelevant. Not everyone is, and even if they were that doesn't justify it.

Let adults decide what they do to their body.

Anti-Vaxxers? What kind of comparison is that. Only one salty is you. You have no argument. "Well I'm happy with it" is not an argument.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And it's about you and your feelings? I can use the same logic right back at you.

You're comparing foreskin to limbs? Yeah, get a grip man.

I was simply stating my (unpopular in this circle jerk subreddit) opinion.

Seems like people plug their ears here and hit that down vote when someone has a different opinion .

This is why no one takes Men's Right's serious because you guys are too busy beating each other off and downvoting anyone with an opinion different than yours instead of having a mature discussion.

All I said was "Am I the only one happy with my circumcision?". And you salty kids got so riled up, replying with emotional replies and downvoting into oblivion.

I'm starting to dislike this sub as much as I dislike man hating feminazi's. You guys are the same shit but Men instead.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Except it's not about my feelings. It's about logic There's no valid reason to mutilate someone's genitals in infancy. Every argument is bullshit.

Doesn't matter what I feel about my circumcision. That doesn't affect any logical argument against it. There is no logical argument for it. Everyone like yourself just talks about "it's fine because I don't care, stop crying about it". At best people like you cite bullshit like "it's cleaner" which is bullshit, as are the other "benefits" (all of which are used to defend FGM as well).

I was using an extreme example to highlight how stupid the concept of your argument is.

BY THE WAY, the standard, default position of life is "penises have foreskin". So you don't even have to make an argument to leave it as is. It's on you to provide actual arguments and logic to justify changing the default penis. Of which you have not done. And will never be able to do, because there isn't one.

If you want to chop up your dick as an adult, do what you want. Don't touch kid's. You celebrating mutilating your potential future "kids" (boys, somehow I doubt you'll circumcise your daughter!) is petty and retarded. And only makes it more obvious that your position is entirely based on your feelings.

This is why no one takes Men's Right's serious because you guys are too busy beating each other off and downvoting anyone with an opinion different than yours instead of having a mature discussion.

Make a coherent, valid argument and you won't be downvoted. You have not done so. You being okay with it is irrelevant. As I already stated, and you ignored because you can't make a valid argument and have no way to actually showcase why it's relevant. Because it isn't. Otherwise you'd make that connection via an argument. Rather than "hurr durr you're all just basically feminism but for men!" Because feminists use logical arguments based in fact.

That's projection dear. You're the one going "I feel" and acting like that matters. That's what feminists do. "I feel unsafe!" no one cares, stats are contrary to women's opinions on many issues. And evidence runs contrary to your feelings here too. It's not my fault that my feelings align with evidence and logic as well. Sometimes that occurs.

Lmao. You're the one that sounds like a feminist tumbler SJW trying to latch on to some issue that isn't even an issue for a majority of people.

There's a reason Doctors circumsize kids. Just like they vaccinate kids. You sound like a tinfoil hat wearing anti Vaxxer.

Here are some points for you

Easier hygiene. Circumcision makes it simpler to wash the penis. ... Decreased risk of urinary tract infections. ... Decreased risk of sexually transmitted infections. ... Prevention of penile problems. ... Decreased risk of penile cancer.

It's funny how people here think they know more than Doctors who studied medicine for years

some issue that isn't even an issue for a majority of people.

The majority of men are uncut. And whether or not it's "an issue" for the majority is irrelevant. What a stupid argument.

There's a reason Doctors circumsize kids.

Not a valid one. Selling the foreskin for the hospitals profit to cosmetic companies and for use in skin grafts is not a proper reason to mutilate children.

Easier hygiene. Circumcision makes it simpler to wash the penis. ... Decreased risk of urinary tract infections. ... Decreased risk of sexually transmitted infections. ... Prevention of penile problems. ... Decreased risk of penile cancer.

All of which are false. What a shock. Bathe. Girls get more urinary tract infects and mutilation is not the solution we use to treat it. And with proper hygiene it's a non-issue to begin with. Outright lie, nb4 you try to mention that incredibly flawed and bullshit study from Africa. Ironic that the last two directly contradict each other. I'm pretty sure penile cancer is considered a "problem". Therefore how does it "prevent" penile problems if it only "decreases" the risk of penile cancer?

It's funny how people here think they know more than Doctors who studied medicine for years

It's funny you ignore the medical community who opposes genital mutilation and instead support the ones that do it. Ones who will never actually discuss what the foreskin does or even is when they try to argue in favor of circumcision. Because they're not only ignorant, but that would actually showcase the issue with circumcision. They also fail to acknowledge any risks at all. Almost like they're full of shit.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Selling foreskin to Hospitals? Haha. Do you have a reputable source to back your tinfoil hat conspiracy theories? Just like Vaccines give autism. You sound dumb as fuck.

Have you ever seen anyone draw a penis with foreskin? No.

Do you ever see ant eater dicks with foreskin in Pornos? No.

Along with it looking worse it's also less hygienic. Along with the other multiple medics reasons for circumcision. You sound like some salty small dick kid with and uncircumcised ant eater dick.

Show me the medical communities that are against circumcision? As far as I know any parent can still easily get it done. You're just making claims like they are fact with no evidence to support it.

CIRCUMCISION DOES NOT INHIBIT SEXUAL PLEASURE.

[+]pierresderriere1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (12 children) | Copy Link

Care to elaborate? When you remove a relatively large section of highly innervated tissue that also protects another piece of highly innervated tissue, one that is manipulated to a large extent during intercourse, it's pretty hard to argue that it doesn't inhibit sexual pleasure.

[+]abigstarwarsfan1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (11 children) | Copy Link

I'll elaborate, am circumcised, nut in my wife 4 or 5 times a week, face pussy butthole it don't matter, stop whining because no one wants to touch your nasty uncut dick you mangy fuck.

[–]rocko7927 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm assuming with this quote that your wife is deaf, blind, and is missing all her limbs. Less than 30% of the world is cut and even though most women don't really care about male circumcision (though you said that nobody wants to touch an uncut dick) of those that didn't give a neutral answer, more said that they preferred a natural penis over a mutilated one.
You mangy fuck.

Just look at Viagra consumption in the US and Israel vs Europe.

Circumcision leads to a ton of problems, it adds more friction and makes it less pleasurable for both parties. Erectile dysfunction and vaginal dryness are far more common with circumcision.

Yet here you are. There must be a thousand things on Reddit that I don't care about, but I don't go to their boards and threads saying "I don't care about this".

That's the difference between you and I. I enjoy pointing people's idiocy out to them.

[+]jmg831 points 8 years ago [recovered] (17 children) | Copy Link

I don't see how it's a non-issue. This pointless practice is potentially harmful. It has negative side-effects for a lot of men.

[+]RavensHonor1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (16 children) | Copy Link

Really? Because I've read numerous accounts of men who have had to have it done in their teenage and adult years who have seen anyone no change.

I think you all are barking up the wrong tree. It'll be ok, I promise.

[+]jmg831 points 8 years ago [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link

I've read accounts of men who've said the opposite. Are they lying? To say there's absolutely no change sounds like nonsense to me, but either way, it shouldn't be done to children, excluding medical problems. A grown man wants to do it to himself, then fine. Whether he comes to regret it or not, it's entirely his own responsibility.

[+]RavensHonor1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (14 children) | Copy Link

Why not? We make choices for our children all the time. Yes, even medical decisions are often made without a child's consent. I'm sorry but, not you or anyone else is going to tell ME what is or isn't necessary for my child.

I'm cut, so is my son. You'll live long enough to get over it.

Since you seem to be spouting nothing more than drivel, I'll reply to the last question only.

If he one day says he would have preferred to be intact, I'd tell him to go ahead and join the other whiny simpletons on the internet, crying about a completely non issue.

I tend to agree with most things posted here but, this one has you all seeming like you're looking for that precious victim status that most feminists strive for.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Spouting drivel? I'd say they were pretty basic questions. Your evasiveness doesn't make anything I've said less valid.

If he one day says he would have preferred to be intact, I'd tell him to go ahead and join the other whiny simpletons on the internet, crying about a completely non issue.

See, there you go. By your own admission, you'd dismiss anything your son had to say on the matter if his views don't coincide with yours. Even if he had legitimate problems, you'd probably just fob him off. I asked you if your son had a medical problem that necessitated his being circumcised, and you dodged the question, which leads me to believe that he didn't. If this is the case, then if it was so important to you that your son be circumcised, then surely it stands to reason that he might have an opinion in the matter, it being his penis?

I tend to agree with most things posted here but, this one has you all seeming like you're looking for that precious victim status that most feminists strive for.

Is it really so ridiculous that a man might want his penis to be the way it's supposed to be?

[–]Yndrd1984 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Look, princess, I'm not here to debate with you.

Best joke I've heard all day. Plus I get enjoy your planetary-scale psychological projection:

I'd tell him to go ahead and join the other whiny simpletons on the internet, crying about a completely non issue.

Nothing says 'psychological health' like planning on how to berate your children if they someday disagree with you.

What's your plan for when he tells you that he's gay?

you're looking for that precious victim status that most feminists strive for

LOL - You're practically in tears because someone disagreed with you on the internet. Oh no! Your fee-fees!

This over-the-top, hysterical reaction is why we know that you know (deep down) that it's wrong. When decent people do something terrible, even on accident or without knowing it, and they can't handle the cognitive dissonance, this is exactly how they react.

Your life will be much easier after you realize that people trying to prevent others from making a mistake aren't trying to make you feel bad about making it yourself. They're trying to prevent other people from going what you're going through.

Best of luck.

[+]deville05 -15 points-14 points-13 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Is this statement wrong though? Why haven't we heard of circumcision in men causing problems in sex? And if it's not wrong, why are you people mad? Is the author implying that hence it's ok for men to be circumcises? Being angry makes sense in that case because it's still a brutal archaic violent form of mutilation and child abuse. but if we are gonna point out that facts are not racist or sexist, then statements like the shouldn't be triggering us. Don't know about the rest of the article though

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why haven't we heard of circumcision in men causing problems in sex?

Where the hell have you been? This stuff is everywhere. People dismiss men who report problems, telling them it's psychological, that they just masturbate too much, etc. Of course, it couldn't possibly be the disfigurement that removed a bunch of the man's penis tissue, could it? Nah, he's just crazy. Even when people post articles about kids getting disfigured or killed because of this procedure, people will say shit like "The doctor most have been inept", or "that kid must have been unlucky".

[–]93re2 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

People dismiss men who report problems, telling them it's psychological

The exact same thing happens in cultures that circumcise women. When a cut woman complains about it, other cut women defending the practice start with the "it's all in your head, you need a therapist, it's tradition, sex still feels good, my daughter was cut and she's fine, I'm cut and I'm fine!" lines.

Oh, I don't doubt it for a second. People will go to all sorts of lengths to defend their irrational traditions. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

Why haven't we heard of circumcision in men causing problems in sex?

We have. Punch it into a search engine...

[–]deville05 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmm well I hadn't. Had a lot of friends who were circumcised. Never heard anything about problem. Never thought that it was a problem. Just always felt that it doesn't make a difference and that it was unecesaary. Infact recently I watched adam ruins circumcision and even they didn't mention that it causes problems. Anyway I will check it out. But I still think that it not coming into my radar is in a way the result of the propagated narrative that it's fine for men. Perhaps not enough people are talking about it. That should definitely be a thing
