I know of a case

Probably millions of lab mammals being impregnated by experimental embryos every year in controlled environment. Not a single confirmed case of previous pregnancy contaminating the genetics of the next generation. Proven beyond doubt that oocytogenesis in humans is complete either before or shortly after birth. But yes. In this ONE case, nature decided to make an exception, and not a woman decided to cheat.

This is a question for men. How would knowing that there's ALWAYS 15% or - around 1/7 chance - that a baby would be not yours but your wife's former partner affect your dating habits?

I'd stay single. Plain and simple.

Before you scream, "debunked pseudoscience" I know of a case where telegony has been proven beyond shadow of doubt with the man and wife both being loyal to each other, going through lie detectors, wife checking if she had been drugged/violated, etc. the end result turned out that when she was a volunteer doctor in Africa, she had a brief relationship with the local doctor, which affected her pregnancy years later.

Let's not make this sub any more delusional and anti-scientific than it already is. You don't need to peddle your insane theories on a "trust me bro" basis, when you start the thread with "let's assume for the sake of this experiment".

How does a 15% chance affect dating? Unexpected child death rates would rise.

Telegony is pseudoscience.

What is proven to be real is epigenetics. That means the baby will be yours, but his phenotype will be affected by the environment the mother went through.

For example, it is hypothesized that even if you and your partner are chill people, traumatic or stressful events during pregnancy may lead to the kid being more aggressive.

…. and the theory was not only rejected in humans the early 20th century, but its been shown that more often than not shown that if it does happen, it only occurs in species that lay eggs. It’s even doubtful that it happens to mammals who have multiple babies.

That is like dropping a nuke on society. If it existed it would end dating as we know it overnight.

How many men would be cool with the fact their child is taking after the first man the mother slept with? I can tell you right off the bat I would refuse to have children at that point.

Of course it doesn't exist in mammals, but if it did you bet your ass that'd be a secret that gets all research sabotaged and torched. That would cause such a societal shitfit it'd make the fall of rome look like a bar fight. The knock on effects of publishing it would send our culture back several hundred years at minimum.
