Two days ago there was an article regarding the "Slut Walk" held in Toronto that aimed to address a comment that a representative of the Toronto Police force made: “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”.

Of course, the movement was aimed more toward women's rights and the condemnation of being a "slut" linked with appearances, etc. But I feel this statement is unfair to men as well.

I think the idea that a woman more or less asks to be raped by her choices in attire relies on the basic assumption that all men are primitive animals who cannot control their sexual appetites. It's as if saying a women should expect to be assaulted if she wears more promiscuous clothing because all men will drool after her and others will take action.

Just curious as to your thoughts on the matter?

EDIT: thanks for the input, fellas! (and ladies, who contributed). this definitely satisfied my food for thought for the day.
