its a bit of an exaggeration op: i read the article in french: its a lawsuit about the contestants not being paid (personal opinion- its a contest, not a job so no pay) and about discrimination like: taler than 1.7m / 5'5; no tattoos; no children; no piercings and never been wed.... The last one, why not its a bit pointless...

By the way they were shut down by one of the highest-ranking french politician women; she said: Les féministes, nous les attendons sur des sujets autrement plus importants, que sont la liberté des femmes, empêchées d'accéder au savoir, à l'espace public, sur le voilement des fillettes, toutes ces libertés fondamentales qui sont aujourd'hui l'objet d'attaques." La parlementaire Les Républicains "aurait voulu entendre les féministes sur l'affaire Mila, par exemple, où elles ont joint leur voix à ceux qui condamnaient le blasphème. Je ne crois pas que lutter contre le concours de Miss France soit de première priorité pour les libertés des femmes."

basicaly: feminists should focus on more important things like freedom, access to knowledge, children wearing burkas and all those fundamental freedoms. she goes on to say she would have liked to hear feminist on the Mila case. she ends by saying : i dont think fighting the miss France pageant is the first priority for freedom of women.

I've always said beauty pageants are the ultimate in female objectification...yet women are the only participants and the only audience for them.

So the single most offensive and misogynistic thing I can think of, is done by women for the entertainment of women.

If the French labour law considers recieving monetary compensation under a contract as gainfully employed, then the feminist might win.

FYI: that's why Hooters are not in France, because employer can't hire or fire using beauty standards.

But, the pageant is going to continue without paying the models. Which is only going to hurt women(models).

They can't eat properly to maintain figure, now they might not even get paid for suffering it 🤦.
