To women only: In your experience are average, unattractive guys more or less misogynistic than attractive ones? Are they less of assholes?

I game heavily and acquired a lot of interesting male friends over the years. I also used to scour mgtow and an app named memedroid over a decade ago. Although memedroid is just memes there was a pretty hefty “incel” community on the app. From personal experience the most misogynistic men I’ve met are unattractive.

The attractive men that I encounter during dating are less misogynistic, more decent human beings.

...but like, there's a problem there for making a judgement. I encounter them during dating and I'm not like a very attractive women. So there's already a pre-selection happening, because these are attractive men that would still date me even though I'm less attractive then them.

So I don't think we can use that.

And at work, there's also a problem, because the more attractive men are more open, communicate more, make jokes, ask questions quicker, ... The less attractive men I barely speak with, typically only when I'm looking them up because I need to ask or tell them something.

...so we can't use those experiences either.

There's not really a difference. Good-looking men tend to be more confident so it's better known what their views are, but I've got to know enough guys who are unattractive and shy to know that they have pretty much the same distribution, they're just less outspoken about it. (I say good-looking because misogyny is not attractive.)

I have found there is no way to tell how much of a misogynist a guy is by looks alone. But guys who think they are very good looking tend to act like the biggest assholes, misogyny or not.

You can find decent people all along the looks spectrum. You can find assholes there as well. Not every handsome guy fucks and discards women with no regard for their feelings, and not every ugly guy is a soulful, sensitive poet. I don't see any correlation.

I personally find my husband attractive as he has a very rugged look to him and, might be a bit TMI, but he’s a hairy guy and I am very into that. Especially laying my head on chest when we’re cuddling or when we’re “cuddling.” He’s the sort of man that a lot of the people here in this sub would immediately judge as being an asshole, especially if you put me right now to him in said picture. That’s just based on his looks and my looks and race, I’m not talking out of my ass either with this because I’ve had been be outright hostile to me or simply nosy regarding our relationship. To put it simply I look like a prim proper tiny little woman, he looks like he could be in a 1%er club. But beyond that he’s the only man besides who saw me as a human being and a woman, and wasn’t just looking to cross off “exotic” on his fuck it list.

To make a separate comment also related to personal experience, I haven’t noticed “ugly” or “average” or “attractive” men be anymore or any less sexist than one or the other. I’ve encountered “attractive” men who would make a diehard Saudi Arabian Muslim look progressive and I’ve encountered “average” and “ugly” men who acted the exact same way. Though I’ve encountered way more “average” men in general. I have noticed though that a lot of the “average” or “ugly” men who were sexist had more specific reasons and assumptions for seeking me out.

Looks isn't really the problem, it's the arrogance or insecurities. From my experience, when they're at the extreme ends of hot and ugly, they're the worst. When they're more average looking, they're the nicest.

I find it's a 50/50 between the two, so equal measure; on the other hand the unattractive ones are more prone to misogynistic outburst when they feel like they don't get their "just desserts".

No, not necessarily. Sometimes ugly men are more misogynistic because they are bitter that women don’t want to date them as much, but assholes come in all levels of attractiveness. Generally, average men (and women) seem to have the best personalities because they’re neither arrogant nor bitter, but there is no guaranteed correlation.

tbh, I don't know if I've met a truly misogynistic person irl. Most guys I know are chill and have always treated me as an equal. Sure they make jokes about women and stuff, but that shits funny. It never really comes across as genuine misogyny. I guess a few of the unattractive ones may say some stuff here and there, but often times they're talking about actual women they knew that treated them like shit. It's not misogyny if they're literally just venting about real shit that happened. So basically I don't really notice men being misogynistic at all irl. Online, I see it happen from both sides quite a bit. But I guess because average and unattractive guys make up the majority of men, I see them more often.

People tend to see misogyny as a si game brand of hatred of women. I think there are multiple sources and strains of it.

Some grow up in societies where women are seen as cattle (classic payriarchal societies). Others grow up in societies where women make up the academic and intellectual elite. In some countries (Northern Europe) also the political elites. Then you also have men with abusive mothers, wives, classmates etc. the outcome looks the same but the sources are very different. Feminists constantly overlook this which is why the more the pump the hate and oppression pedal trying to fix it the worse it will get. There is a strain of authoritarianism and tyranny in feminist movement which they are blind to because they are convinced of their own moral superiority. like the equality minister in Sweden who wanted to lock up incel as a preventive action to prevent sexual assaults etc. In the long run this will lead to a lot of problems. The incel movement is the embryo of the future.

Straight misogyny is different than asshole. Umm, yeah average guys are meaner AND more misogynistic. It's possible that I have selection bias at play here because the only way I'd even interact with a Chad would be him being nice. Average guys? Well, they see I'm average, too, and so they feel free to be dicks. Chads know it's not a good look nor necessary to punch down.

There’s equal probability of both being misogynistic but I’ve personally found unattractive men are more overt about it when they are. My guess is they want to hurt women in the ways they’ve been hurt. Whereas attractive men are more covert about their misogyny.

eh. usually in the ones I've met if they refer to themselves as 'average' or 'unattractive' are usually the most misogynistic. their usually the ones who view women as objects or something obtainable. Not that men who are indeed conventionally attractive are in fact assholes. It's those guys who pull the whole "but I'm decent looking so why cant I have a girlfriend."

in general, anyone can be misogynistic, no matter how attractive or unattractive. But in my experience, the guys who don't get the regular tinder matches or dates have this narrative of "either I'm really repulsive or these women are blah blah blah"
