Brief history lesson: the term "Alpha male" did NOT come from studying wolves. It actually came from studying chimpanzee hierarchies. This article explains it and is about the guy that literally coined the term: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/alpha-male-alpha-chimpanzee-primatologist-frans-de-waal-a8421291.html

Here's where it gets super interesting: the Alpha chimp is often NOT the physically strongest chimp...in fact the alphas often have larger male "bodyguard" chimps that keep them safe.

As seen in the research, the Alpha chimp is often the most likeable chimp in the group: the one that resolves conflicts, shares food, plays with babies, even launching their own primitive political campaigns - generally schmoozing.

[They DID find that some groups had physically dominant chimps as the Alpha...but these were often "live by the sword" type leaders who often pissed enough of their group off to get ripped apart by their peers 😳]

So, to bring this to humanity and it's greater complexity:

Who is the real alpha male? The big guy walking in the club with a girl on his arm threatening to beat up other people...OR the guy with the beer belly that OWNS the club and can throw them all out if he wants to?...OR the old frail guy that owns the chain of nightclubs and can close down whichever club he wants to?

The answer is that it's highly contexual and total bullshit...and this is from a guy that is very much anti-pc/extreme feminism.
