I take issue with this on two fronts.

This is generally enough for people to be receptive to talking to you. But who says women see you as a romantic option just because they're talking to you? Friendliness does not equal romantic consideration.

More importantly, your phrasing ("all anyone needs") makes it sound like this demeanor is easy to have and no big deal. That couldn't be further from the truth. To a socially anxious person, this sounds an awful lot like "Happiness and gratitude is all anyone needs to cure their depression." Like no shit. People wouldn't be depressed if they were happy. People wouldn't be shy and anxious if they were confident and relaxed. Getting to those states is massively difficult to impossible for a lot of people.

First impressions matter. You can be charismatic, charming, and have a wicked grin. Being 300lbs won’t help you. It’s why one of the first tenets of TRP is to lift. Being jacked will.

As a 5'5 average looking white guy who does every thing you mentioned and can't get a date to save my life I greatly disagree. I'm also in really good shape to the point that GUYS randomly make comments about it.

Women on the other hand treat me like I'm wearing a Cloak of Invisibility. They are more than happy to be my friend of course. They just don't see me as a man.

All those things are more about others perception of you and less about objective measurable reality. As with most things perception, it depends on whether you follow Rule 1 and 2. Its the difference between a confident man with good posture and grin, and a cocky asshole manspreading with a creepy smirk.

Confidence is a part of it, but you also need to match their looks requirement. Not even just in dating, people will judge you on looks for friendships and jobs as well.

In most situations, I would say I agree. And that doesn't mean get a foot in every door, it just means you won't be doomed for failure every single time.

If you look like absolute dog shit, you might need a bit more than that.

edit: I think this advice is good for people in the average to a bit above average range. If you're below average, improving looks, dressing better, etc is very important and in a lot of situations, necessary.

You need hygiene and charisma. So, being able to be chatty with anyone you come across (male or female). It's just basic conversational skill.

If you don't have this then take a part-time job doing any kind of sales. Cell phone store, 7-11. It doesn't matter. You need to learn how to interact and interpret different personalities. Once you've mastered that you can make friends with anyone (including getting laid fast).

I never understood takes like this. You all seem awfully lapidary and fatalist. I’m NOT good looking, like at all. I can’t even say I’m that charismatic and at most was considered a little mysterious and I fucked around a lot, was with whoever I wanted and finally married a great woman. Only at high school I considered myself unlucky about sex/love. So, to me, this all sounds quite a self fulfilling prophecy at best and incely at worst.
