Link to proof being in the pudding. I'm involved with two threads under this post, and in both I was ridiculed and the OP's husband was immediately deemed "the problem".

My old man once told me "Women are big children".

He was a quote connoisseur.

[–]sicrm 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

imagine rather wanting to save money you could use on a cleaner on a lawyer instead.

a cleaner somehow isn’t cheaper than a divorce and two separate homes...

[–]NLP_Onyx[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, not very smart. Women don't think with logic.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Lmao so I’m a guy but I disagree with this thread. Also just want to point out that the top post criticizes a comment that all men generalize women and then you do exactly that in the same thread

[–]NLP_Onyx[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

You do realize that my statement is quite literally backed by decades worth of research, right? There's a difference in making generalizations and providing a statistically and objectively correct statement.

What the other gentleman was talking about is women making false claims about things like men being abusive in relationships, period, that have absolutely no backing to them whatsoever.

Big difference.

[–]bacon-wrapped-steak 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My ex accused me of "abuse", simply because we got into arguments once every few months. I never once name-called her during our relationship.

I'm pretty sure 99% of couples argue a lot more often than that. Arguing isn't abuse.

Women just use their feelings and get emotional support from their family / friends to make false accusations and ruin men's lives.

[–]Correct-Perception94 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is really what has got my goat... I refused to believe it and I had already lived it through my mother leaving my father and my first wife leaving me... Now it has happened again... I got to watch another woman talk herself into throwing away everything we had built together. It doesn't happen all at once, either. It happens every time they misunderstand what you are saying and then think you are trying to flip-flop when you try to explain how it's not fair to assume I meant something other than what I said. What would be the point of communicating if the structure of communication isn't based on the agreed definition of words? That's fairly convenient, I'm really good at logic and if the only way to justify bad behavior is to deny logic, then failure is inevitable... What I need a woman to be doesn't exist, and I have spent my life living under the belief that I must be the problem, because it can't be that all women are like this... Now I can't deny my error, and I still really want to find a real woman. I don't know, yet, if I want to live in a world where women are allowed to ruin the life of entire families just because you disagree with them.

[–]CRobinsFly 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, to their credit, women have broad definitions of what constitutes "abuse". The one they've been pushing the last decade or so is "financial abuse"; Coach GA had a bit about that, under that definition tons of men would scope in as being abused.

Pretty much every sub involving relationships, marriage, or divorce in general is overrun and controlled by angry manhating women. Even AITA is like that now also, and askmen is on the cusp of being overran by women.

combine all pre-marital assets

LOL yeah well I'm guessing an attorney trying to protect his financial interests wouldn't give this advice. If you're 21 and have no assets, that's one thing.

Good on you for at least trying to give some good advice. I think I went there a few times but that was enough.

He had a few hundred grand in assets. Wife had like 50k in student loans with no assets

Trust, this makes me want to say a lot of things that would be unprintable. This is potentially a tragedy in the making, financially speaking. I understand though, I walked into a similar trap. Wife had no income at all, and I was in love, didn't protect myself. Live and learn.

Edit-I feel sick reading this. You did him a solid. I hope he heard you.

You tried. All you can do. I think I got banned or a warning for posting so many suggestions to go to r/Divorce_Men on there . It was clearly not a place for any dissenting opinion.

[–]monkagainnow 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Learned my lesson in this the hard way. At least my sons are learning from it. Hopefully they remember.

Fuck that sub. I got banned the other day for pointing out that the mod made a CLEARLY sexist remark about how “all men generalize women.”

The sexism on that sub makes me sick. The way they immediately jump to assume the man is abusive. The way they are incapable of seeing that there is likely another side to the story. The way they don’t just want to see the woman blind side and divorce the man, but actually want to see her ruin his life. Label him an abuser. Take his children. Ruin his livelihood. It’s amongst the most toxic subs and awful for the poor men that wander in there in a time of need. Hope they find their way here.

Seriously. Keep pointing it out and you’ll be banned in no time. Which, is truly a badge of honor.

[–]gizzmotech 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Isn't this thread though a little bit of the reverse type of sexism? The title literally has an "all women are x" statement in it. Maybe there is a truth somewhere in between. I've literally had someone tell me to fuck off in here because I don't hate women and don't generally agree with the "all women are awful" party line in here. Which okay, maybe I'll get banned in here, then. I suppose it's another kind of "badge of honor".

Edit: a word

[–]WartimeDad 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I read the title as saying that the sub is filled with all women. As in, there aren’t many men. Not that all women are ___. And I agree with you that women are not awful. But some are! R divorce seems to have forgotten that.

I think there are some people in this sub that do seem to hate women. And I’m not a fan of that, or the whole ‘red pill’ and ‘MGTOW’ stuff, or whatever it is. But overall, we support eachother here. I’m not sure what the exchange was that led to someone telling you to fuck off in this sub, so i have no opinion on that. But I am absolutely DONE with the bull shit that is all women are queens and it’s acceptable to hate men because “the patriarchy.” Think how often you hear the word “misogyny” and how little you hear the word “misandry.” Both things happen. There are shit men that hate women. There are shit women that hate men. Our culture seems to have decided that it’s okay for women to hate men. I’m sick of it.

My experiences with r divorce is that they are regularly shaming men who need help. They are banning commenters who provide a perspective that isn’t “oh my god he is abusive honey, you need to divorce his ass.”

And no, you won’t get banned here simply because you have a different opinion. I will say that we are a sub that is specifically for men and by men. We aren’t really asking for any women to be here. r/Divorce claims to be open to both sexes and yet they are absolutely not. The really ought to just change the name to divorce_women, and then none of us would give a shit.

I will add that what gets under my skin about the sexism in the divorce sub is that men have so so so so little resources and support when they get blindsided by their wives, or they find themselves trapped with an abusive woman. Or when they just need to talk. Women have support literally everywhere they go.

[–]gizzmotech 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't disagree with the fact that there are crap women, and crap men. Humans in general are often terrible, but it's far from all, for either gender.

I posted a reply to that effect on a "all women are blah" post a couple of weeks ago and got told this isn't a safe space for someone who is both a man, and a feminist (feminism being the desire for full equality and acknowledging that in many ways, our society defaults toward men. though maybe not in this space specifically, but that is my lens on life in America).

Maybe that was just one angry dude. I've been following in here because I've gone through the process (albeit far more amicably than what a lot of the men here deal with) and wanted to provide any benefit my experience could provide. I haven't ever really read anything in the main divorce sub, so I can't really speak to the experiences and posts there. I could have misinterpreted the subject line on OP's post.

[–]WartimeDad 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Feminism no longer means what it used to mean. You absolutely should not be a feminist. Simply say that you are for equality. Feminism is a word that has branched in meaning. Which you know, because even you had to sort of define it when using it, which is the correct thing to do since over the last decade or so MANY MANY MANY women are now using it as an anthem call to hate men.

So I suggest ditching your allegiance to the word “feminism” and be like me, I’m pro equality of all genders. Equality for all humans regardless of whatever sex or race or whatever.

That being said, ideas are bad. I can hate an idea without hating the person who has the idea.

And yeah, I may also have misinterpreted the subject like and perhaps the OP is being sexist. Still, this is a man’s sub.

[–]gizzmotech 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's cool, and thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll still identify myself with the word as I choose. Letting the worst elements like FDS co-opt the term is no different than just accepting redpillers and MGTOW claim to speak for everyone who cares about men's issues. When we allow the worst people to decide a specific description or movement applies to their extremism instead of what it originally meant, we just end up conceding territory to the worst among us. So nah, I'll be one (maybe of the few) pushing back on that shit.

[–]gizzmotech 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And incidentally, I didn't identify myself as a feminist in that reply I was talking about (and my profile was blank at the time) but I used words that apparently triggered the person who decided I was feminist (which okay, I am, and own it) and it was interesting that he told me I expressly wasn't welcome here with that viewpoint.

Edit: replied to the wrong message in the thread, moved for clarity

[–]Eve-3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well said.

[–]pegleg_legal 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's a lot of hate and anger here, but in the end it's more about supporting than bashing. If you can't see that or take an angry dude lashing out from time to time ... well ... that's a you problem.

[–]gizzmotech 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Never said I couldn't see that. I was specifically speaking to an interaction related to a prior thread where I suggested that maybe all women aren't fire-breathing, man-hating beasts that only want to hurt and steal from men and being told off for it, as it relates to this post, where I suggested maybe blanket "all women" statements aren't ideal.

[–]Idratherhikeout 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm not defending the person replying or the subreddit. I'm nearly fifty and have dated, and lived with, a number of women through my life. They were all largely awesome.

That said, I've never had a more consistent disagreement, or argument, when it comes to house cleaning. I've found inexpensive housekeepers and when I've lived on my own, they've been *fantastic* and save me tons of time.

When I've lived with someone romantically, I've repeatedly had resistance to a housekeeper for reasons I don't understand. If I pushed the issue and basically forced a housekeeper, all sorts of weird behavior would ensue. One SO would thoroughly clean the house before the housekeeper showed up. It was weird. I've seen arguments, defensive behavior and then passive aggressive efforts to prove we don't need a housecleaner. It saved me time, but it never saved my SO time.

I don't want to stereotype and I'm just making an observation based on my experience. Housecleaners have been a very sensitive topic in my past when I've romantically lived with someone. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

[–]James1933-75 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Pride. Competition among women, they don't want to admit they cannot keep a clean house. Second, they want something to lord over you with.

[–]Professional-Yak-291 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You really don’t understand women. we are not competing for the cleanest house! That’s idiotic. We are raised to notice what needs to be done. We are raised to care about the world around us - the people, the pets. Keeping my house clean is an act of caring for my family. But I never signed up to do that alone or take on an unfair amount of that burden. I was quite clear when I married - I will work and I am not a house wife or SAHM. I asked for an equal partnership. But he wasn’t willing to provide that once he realized what it entailed. It’s clear from posts on here what an absolutely massive issue this is for women now

[–]James1933-75 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How did a discussion about hiring a housekeeper turn into load sharing about cleaning duties? Both of our comments are within the context of a SO refusing to allow hiring a house keeper. In the era where both are working, this should not be an issue. Please reread the comments within context.

[–]Gattsama 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As always not all women are like this. But the short version of those that are = she is replaceable. If you get you food, cleaning, emotional support, sex, companionship, etc outside of her. Then she's at risk of you just dropping her all together. This is also why many women don't like guys night, trips with guys only, your hobbies, etc. They want you tied to them.

You also get women that want where service on the planet and don't want to do jack. My STBX would frequently tell me how lucky I am that I'm with her. All these other women just want to use me, would hurt me, etc. They are either gold diggers or crazy. I asked her one day which are you?? She stated she's the exception 🤪

[–]Professional-Yak-291 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I’ll try and explain it. It’s not just the cleaning. Cleaners don’t solve the problem. Cleaners won’t clean if there’s stuff everywhere. So who tidies up so cleaners can do their job?

Also Who scheduled that cleaner? Who keeps the to do list? Who makes sure there’s toilet paper? Changes the bed sheets? Keeps soap in the bathrooms? Books the vacations? Plans summer vacation camps? Handles all incoming mail and files it? Gets rid of stuff no longer needed - donates to charity? Throws out the rotting food? Does the deep cleaning jobs every now and then like baseboards, or the fridge? Remembers the appointments? What was disappointing for me with my husband was that he didn’t want to help with any of those things either. It wasn’t just about cleaning. He literally had 6 things on his list 1. Wake kids up for school 2. Laundry 3. Trash 4. Pick up kid from activity 4x a week 5. House and car repairs and maintenance 6. Yard work, snow removal . And he would not / could not do more and resented being asked to do more. And he shirked the yard work. I think he mowed twice in one season.

[–]dday_throwaway3 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

/r/divorce is a feminist cuckfest. The sooner men realize that, the sooner they can ditch their societal programming of putting women on a pedestal. That's the number one reason why men end up here: They operate within the frame of their spouse, instead of their spouse operating within theirs.

[–]Basic_Advance7627 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’ve seen a lot of men do crappy things but I’ve seen a lot of women take it to a whole other level in absolutely destroying their husband especially if she’s cheating and the husband loves her enough to let her ruin him. Pure evil.

They feel like they have to avenge their grandmothers for the way the times were back then or something.

[–]Hayekr 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As if their grandmothers would want to trade places with them even if they had the chance.

Those 40+ hour work weeks at dead end corporate jobs made possible by a steady diet of SSRI's and anxiety meds just to get through the day without having an emotional breakdown. What a modern paradise their grandmothers missed out on.

[–]James1933-75 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Fuck that place. I do not post there, except accidentally when I don't notice there's been a cross post. Then delete immediately. Don't get me wrong, it's can be extremely valuable to get a female perspective on things - so long as it's objective. Not the case there.

Confession through projection gentlemen, confession though projection.

[–]NLP_Onyx[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I even called the one girl out on it. There's no reason they'd be so immediately hostile to the male party. 100% projecting.

[–]RedditAzania -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm a man and this subreddit isn't any better, in fact it's even worse than /r/divorce.

[–]Eve-3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thread you are talking about, the person who started it and you jumped in to agree is a female. Sounds like it isn't all women or even all women who are in that sub. It's not even all women in commenting in that particular topic. It is all women who are disagreeing with you in that topic. That's a pretty small group of people, about 4 maybe.

I'm not saying that sub isn't biased in favor of women, because I agree that it is. I'm saying that's a poor example to show it. Especially since your comment is being upvoted. Though that may be due to the link here. Nobody is attacking you, they're just disagreeing.

[–]Masypha 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of panties in a bunch, OP, lol.

[–]playerknowmore 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If women initiate eighty percent of divorces what do you expect them to say. They call themselves equal, but everything about a relationship with them is totally runs contrary to this. Men do help around the house; men who wives bring financial gains to the relationship. Sorry SAHP is a dated archetype. My mother was a house wife and it was fine for that generation. The time for princesses is over.
