Hello everyone, long time lurker here, I am making my first ever post here hoping to start a conversation on a topic that hasn't been brought up before as far as I can tell. I've never made a Reddit post before so please be understanding if I am lacking in quality, I also plan to keep it quite short and intend to lean on users watching a short video (1min) and reading an article (very short read with plenty of interesting PPD related information as well). My objective is to make my post relatively short and easy to comprehend, I have a summary below that I believe is good enough for lazy people to quickly read and jump into conversation, though I recommend that you read the article and my summary at the very least.

(Though the video and article make reference to a study, I can't find it online and would like to ask for any professional information gatherers for assistance)

For more information, I'm making this post after Reddit recommended a subreddit by showing me a post that had a particular video on it, which I thought was absolutely perfect for this sub. Here's a YouTube link to the video that got me to make this post here. (1min length)

Here is the article used in the first video, which discusses the study, please read it as it's packed full of very relevant information, and other information that plays into many of the things this sub has already discussed many times over. (very short read)

To summarize the concept of 'Beauty Overstimulation' it's more or less when too many attractive/beautiful faces overstimulate an individual, and warp the individual's perception of what 'average' faces are and how attractive they are. This seems to affect men's perception on women far more than women's perception of men, as women are unaffected in this manner. The effect that attractive women have by overstimulating others is that both men and women now rate women as being less attractive than they actually are (seems like actually attractive women are immune?), and wrongly believe that attractive women are more common than they actually are. At the same time, attractive men have no effects on both men and women.

This is Kenrick's YouTube channel, which seems to contain some videos that would fit in this sub. (I have not watched the videos, just made judgements based on the titles)

Here is the video of Douglas Kenrick, the creator of the study, which was used in part within the video I linked above. I have not watched the video, but at the 5:30 part is when more relevant content is shared by Kenrick.
