Feminists say the SCUM Manifesto was written by a crazy person and shouldn’t be taken seriously. I agree it was written by a crazy person, but it was translated into many different languages, had millions of copies distributed and is required reading in many woman’s studies programs. Obviously the idea of extinguishing men is an idea that appeals to many feminists. It will be interesting to see if this book is the same.

A single feminist writing such a book isn’t proof feminism is misandrists. Feminists buying and reading such material in mass is.

There's a comment from some lesbian feminist where she says that all men should be rounded up and placed in a camp (Hello to my Nazi friends) and then if a woman wants to catch up with her son/father etc she "books them out" like a book from a library and then returns them by sunset.

Plenty of feminist books (utopias and dystopias) are based on this.

For example the "Handmaid's Tale" features a world where most men are dead in wars. Of course even though it's a bigoted story based on killing of most men, it's passed off as a story that shows misogyny.

I don't even need to go into why a purely female world would quickly revert back to a "gatherer" society, devoid of plumbing, electrical power, substantial protective structures, and abundant food supply at every corner.

I'm curious about the uproar by the trans community. Correct me if I'm ignorant but aren't trans women people who feel female and often do their best to "transition" their Y chromosome body to a non Y body? Wouldn't they welcome a reality where there could be no such "mistake" by mother nature?

I suppose trans men might have an issue with "their" gender being removed from earth, but no, wouldn't they be called upon to fill the gap? Such a world would not be feminine utopia. Women would now have to learn to do all of the work that men do…garbage pickup and disposal, water purifying and distribution, construction, road repair, maintaining and repairing the power grid, etc. There’s no way that women could handle the steep learning curve to maintain society. The reality of this kind of world would be hell.

Tbh Idgaf about this. Authors should be able to write what they want to write about, so long as they aren't trying to encourage harm to people irl. This is definitely borderline, but not quite to SCUM standards.

The reason misandry is acceptable is because the perceived threat of misandry is not considered “harmful” because feminists always draw on history to show that women never had any power and never threatened men.

Just because there hasn’t been many instances of female sexism towards men (as much as the other way around) it doesn’t mean that this and similar types of books/narratives aren’t sexist.

This is why feminism never succeeds. At the end feminists always come to realize how hypocritical they really are.

I know that is not the point here but someone had to remind this author that the absence of the Y chromosome would not mean the end of the male genre, another gene within the X chromosome would assume the function of determining the sexual gender. There are mammals that do not have the Y chromosome.

And psychopathy is linked to the X chromosome so i dont believe it would be this paradise they dream of

It's fiction. It's actually not okay to malign an author of fiction for attempting art, no matter whether you disagree with it. You wouldn't want the same of a man - who cares if a woman does it?

It would be another thing entirely if she was passing it as nonfiction scholarship. Then sure, go after her education position, but this is simply not the case.

I mean… this just showed up in my recommended (so Idk just wanted to share my opinion), but there’s a theory that the first humans all had XX chromosomes (excluding any disorders). The theory states that the Y chromosome was once larger, but is now shrinking and men will go back to having two X chromosomes.

This does NOT mean that there won’t be men, it just means that all the “male” genes will be just on the X chromosomes instead (instead of some being on the X, and some being on the Y like it is now). Sounds pretty farfetched at first sight, but it’s pretty interesting once you look into it. 🤷‍♀️

Are people missing this is a dystopic novel? That means the plotline is a "utopia" that is actually a hellscape. I'm pretty sure most of the feminist scifi dystopias featuring no men are really strongly condemning the idea of excluding any gender, and they usually include some kind of references to Nazi-like behaviors/control. This was a not uncommon plotline in early 80s sci fi.
