I’ll try to keep this as short as I can. Context: 4 years post divorce, 3 kids, 50/50 custody and I’m happily remarried. My ex treats my wife like she is invisible and doesn’t exist. It’s absurd, childish, behavior to be honest.

What’s the issue?? My (41m) Mom and sister continue to associate themselves with my Ex. Whether it’s my family reaching out to her or she is reaching out to my family, the outcome is the same. Maybe this is acceptable in the early stages of post divorce but it’s been 4 years so that shouldn’t be the case at this point. It seems like the continued friendship is under the guise of “we don’t want to miss the kids growing up” but that’s an assumption on my part.

The bigger problem, and what upsets me the most, my ex uses mutual friends and my family to gain information about what’s going on in my life. I mean, I’d share the information no problem if you’d just pick up the phone and call me. It’s a severe lack of respect.

There’s more details but I think you fine folks get it.

What’s everyone’s take on this topic? I am at the point of giving those friends and family a size 10 right out of my life.

Edit: Thank you for the responses back! It does help to get opinions from others. Here is why this is such a problem for me.

I was recently promoted at work and my family shared this on social media (My work also shares these types of things on social media). But because my Family shared it, it was then available for my ex to see. Now she has been asking a lot of questions to mutual friends and to some of my family. Although nothing has happened yet, I expect to get a notification to review child support. All because family was proud of my achievement and wanted to share with others including my ex. There was good intentions but this has the potential to really shit on my parade financially. Could she have found out anyways, sure. I’d like to not give up that kind of info so easily.
