And for good reason. Ironically, she has totally validated his comment about women not being worth the trouble.

YES!

Also if you try attacking someone like that, why would they even want to help you?

At minimum this "mother" should make a genuine apology.

"My son hasn't spoken to me in 20 years, where did I go wrong??"

[–]bottleblank 85 points86 points87 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Clearly an indication that men are just naturally hateful towards women, including their own mothers.

Yes, that explains it.

Oh please. That would indicate accountability and agency.

More like “Son hasn’t spoken to me in 20 years. I’m a victim!!!”

Beat me to it but worded better.

It’s the thought that counts, really. Have my upvote!

ETA: Google “son hasn’t spoken to me”. Holy shit, the entitlement and narcissism is motherfuckingly gobstopping.

That’s no moon.

There is a ted talk by a mother of a school shooter. She claims innocence.

She probably wishes she had a daughter. Today, daughters have an advantage over sons. Especially, if they are pretty.

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

that would be male fragility and entitlement

[–]dzkrf 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What a horrible mother to go after the male fragility of her own child on purpose.

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i'm predicting the next article by her: "male fragility strikes again. my son is very easily offended at my being very easily offended. next time i'll be talking about toxic masculinity and how it stops men from expressing themselves"

[–]denisc9918 239 points240 points241 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

“The leap from ‘girlfriends aren’t worth the trouble’ to “I, your mother, must not be worth the trouble” is a big yikes. Reeks of emotional incest,” one even suggested.

Another brutally added, “You’re an a–hole and an insecure idiot. Seek therapy so your kid won’t have to later.”

At least some of the comments got it right..

[–]Ahielia 58 points59 points60 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I doubt that, he's probably got a ton of baggage already.

Where is the father?

Either out of the picture or so cucked to the point he allows her final say on everything, including parenting decisions.

My son (16 turning 17) had friends over going over the plan for his birthday, I rented rooms at resort for skiing and snowboarding for a 3 day weekend. They started talking about all sorts of things though, and eventually the topic of my son's sexuality came up. My son is bisexual and has dated both girls and boys, he's currently dating a boy. Neither me or our family have an issue with this.
They're asking him when he realized he was bisexual, when did he come out, when did he first date a guy, what were the differences between guys and girls etc. Eventually they ask him what's his preference, he says “naturally, I don't have a preference. I'm attracted to guys and girls the same, but after dating girls and guys, I can say women aren't worth the trouble.”
That last part caught my attention and I asked him to explain what he meant. I told him if women aren't worth the trouble, then neither am I so I wouldn't be doing anything for his birthday. He just started at me so I said “that's what happens when you're a sexist jerk” in front of his friends.
He hasn't spoken to me and members of our family are saying I shouldn't have said that and I shouldn't have cancelled his birthday party. AITA?Q

I think the misandrist mother is concerned about the comment:

"I can say women aren't worth the trouble"

As always, reverse the genders. Imagine a bi-sexual daughter and she says "naturally, I don't have a preference. I'm attracted to guys and girls the same, but after dating girls and guys, I can say men aren't worth the trouble.”

What would her reaction have been?

[–]aknabi 52 points53 points54 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely!!

[–]bottleblank 120 points121 points122 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What would her reaction have been?

A hearty chuckle and an extra bonus birthday present?

[–]biff64gc 35 points36 points37 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The mom essentially proved his point by being emotionally unstable and manipulative.

[–]w_cruice 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In short, she's female. 🤷‍♀️

[–]Longjumping-Thing227 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's an idiot, but please don't say that. You are the reason we are flagged as women hating. This sub is for mens rights, not women's downfall.

[–]Standard-Broccoli107 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ironically she proves that women arent worth the trouble. Honestly if I were bi I would probably have had far easier relationships. Its no coincidence that homosexual relationships are the happiest while lesbian ones are the least happy. Clear communication and carrying your own weight is so important.

[–]5de1 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What would her reaction have been?

She'd have been applauded for "standing up for herself".

[–]Sensitive-Ad6609 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably joy just from me reading the article. Even women commented that she went too far. The mother definitely has issues big time, now the son probably will too.

[–]threwawaythedaytoday 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

her reaction would have have "thats what i tell myself married to your father" with a guffaw.

[–]L0cked4fun 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hopefully, getting pooped on in the comments made her change her mind. Though if she was the kind of person to admit she was wrong, she probably wouldn't have behaved this way to start.

[–]Ok_Change_1063 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not a lot. Jesus’s ideas about taking care of the poor and sick are undeniably good ideas. But there were also things that we now know were well intended but ignorant like the prohibitions on pork and shellfish.

Eating undercooked pork caused Trichinosis. Shellfish gave people food poisoning.

[–]YetAnotherCommenter 123 points124 points125 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

"My son is bisexual and has dated both girls and boys and is currently dating a boy....”

“They’re asking him about his bisexuality, things like when did he come out, when did he first date a guy, what were the differences between guys and girls,” the mom continued.

Eventually, they asked him what his preference is and he said, “Naturally, I don’t have a preference. I’m attracted to guys and girls the same, but after dating girls and guys, I can say women aren’t worth the trouble.”

As a bi dude myself...

This is why most bi guys end up with men. It isn't because they're secretly "gay and in denial." Its because dating men is easier (coincidentally, this is also why most bi girls end up with men, too).

The mother totally proved the son's point. And to say she engaged in "overkill" is an understatement. I hope he eventually puts that tyrannical bitch in the nastiest, cheapest nursing home he can find.

[–]Typo_Cat 90 points91 points92 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Yep. Bisexual woman here, married to a man.

Women I've dated were prone to sexually assaulting me, feeling entitled to my body and belongings, insisting on being a part of everything in my life... they disrespected me. I was done with it too, honestly. I don't feel safe around women who are clearly bi or lesbian because of how they treated me. Women aren't even that sympathetic to what happened to me either and just assume I'm being a pick-me.

Many women that are either lesbian or straight also have so many issues when their female or male partner is bisexual because they take out all their stupid insecurity and judgmental bullshit towards men on their partner. I've had this a lot even though I had never been with a man until I met my husband.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of the son's ex girlfriends started to both fetishize and judge him for also liking other men, and forced him into dealing with their insecurities about assuming he would cheat with them on another boy. It always fucking happens with bisexual men in particular. Meanwhile, how many girls openly say shit about how they wish they were with women despite being in a relationship with a dude? Boggles the fucking mind.

Dude's mom is a fucking loser who just proved his point.

[–]Ok_Change_1063 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Fun fact: The likelihood of domestic violence in a relationship scales with the number of women in it.

I wish I was into dudes but I’m just not.

Is there a source for this mate?

[–]MachoManShark 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

here's one. i didn't see this in a quick browse any of the brief reports linked on this page, but you can download the full data from a couple years near the bottom of the page. im using my phone right now, which isn't capable of reading those files, so i'm going off of memory here.

40% of lesbians, ~25% of straight people, 15% of gay men, 60% of bi women, and ~35% of bi men report being hit by a partner in the past 12 months.

i'm not super confident here, especially about the straights and bi men, but this should be roughly right.

Mothers are supposed to be compassionate. And this is what happens when there is no father around.

[–]neveragoodtime 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What if it’s fathers that are the compassionate ones? What if “Boys will be boys” is a compassionate statement meant to encourage empathy and not a statement of enabling the behavior. It’s the same statement as, “Kids say dumb things,” it’s meant as don’t take it personally, don’t overly judge them, and don’t expect them them to be men when they’re just boys.

[–]mhk23 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sure that’s possible. I’m just surprised she canceled his birthday. Mothers usually are more merciful universally.

[–]neveragoodtime 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know they have that reputation, but in my experience, they are not. It leads me to believe that that stereotype comes from a earlier time when the mother could tell the father to spank Billy for talking back to her when the dad wasn’t there, and then comfort Billy after the father taught him the lesson, like good cop bad cop. Now we seem to be finding increasing child abuse rates among mothers. Even though men have always been portrayed as the abusers, there was always a woman standing behind him. It made for a convenient excuse when she wanted to kick him out of the family.

[–]Nobleone11 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mothers are supposed to be compassionate.

Guess again. Women aren't always wonderful.

[–]General-Teacher5865 35 points36 points37 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Obviously he shouldn't generalise but for the love of God he's a kid and it isn't his fault that the men he dated probably had more simple standards. Because let's face it we all know which girls he probably ended up dating. And I guarantee if he said that men aren't worth the trouble she would be totally fine with it.

She proved his point.

[–]neveragoodtime 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Well you see Mom, girls I’ve dated tend to be emotionally manipulative, they give conditional gifts and attention based on if I agree with what they’re saying. When something I say upsets them, they lash out and break my stuff. When they agree to do something for me, they can just as easily change their mind based on how they feel at the moment. I can’t be myself around them because I’m too afraid of what will happen if they get mad and I have no idea what the next thing to set them off will be. It could be as simple as ‘I prefer apples over bananas’ and suddenly she is defending bananas and attacking me for liking apples. Do you know any women like that?”

Men are more physically violent, this is true. But because of that, men have far more tools at our disposal for de-escalating what could become violent situations. In my experience, men are more likely to talk things through and work things out to an acceptable compromise. This happens because violence is on the table. Women however, do not rely on violence to solve issues, so their feuds and disagreements go on for longer. Women stop talking or deflect to tears or other distractions when they know they are not in a position to win. Women will stop talking, even as they continue to escalate, because they do not have a fear of violence. They will appeal to the group to ostracize or attack their enemies for them.

When we take violence of the table, as with zero tolerance policies, we force our boys to behave like women. Our school system effectively patrols for boys’ bad behavior, but has no tools for addressing girls bad behavior. This puts boys at a social disadvantage to girls as they go through their teenage development years. Girls do not have to fear retribution from boys, because that kind of retribution is not allowed. Zero tolerance policies teach us that violence is never acceptable, even though we accept and expect it with our police, our military, and vigilantes against pedophiles and rapists. Zero tolerance was about removing the social threat boys had to maintain their hierarchy, and shows that there is no compassion of forgiveness in society for boys, even if he is defending himself or fighting a good cause. And has it successfully stopped fights from happening at schools? Of course not, because fights aren’t caused by the amount of punishment and zero tolerance doesn’t address why any one gets into a fight, causes which continue to exist and will exist forever.

Guess this mom doesn't date women.

It’s funny because I’ve known bi girls that say the exact same thing about dating women

It's a good job people in her sphere don't make kneejerk generalisations about Men based on their limited experience and the feral echo chambers they frequent!

Son has an opinion of Women based on his experience, Mum doubles down on his opinon with a wildly excessive reaction.

Well played Mum.

[–]odysseytree 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's in group bias right here. Some try to deny it. In group bias is stronger than any relationships.

"I agree with this. There is no place for sexism, racism, transphobia or any other ism or phobia. I was supposed to take my 6 year old nibbling (gender neutral niece/nephew) out for Halloween. I was horrified they were dressed as the Disney character Moana. Not only did they wear a gendered costume, they appropriated Pacific Islander culture. The costume came with a little plastic boat oar. I broke it in half and said “cultural appropriation is ALWAYS problematic”. They cried, and I stormed out of the house, but I think they understood and won’t do it again." What

Angry feminist mom encourages son to be bisexual, shocked and insulted that he prefers men over women.

[–]Admiralthrawnbar 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just the title makes it seem like an overreaction, but I can at least understand the basic logic. The more I read the article the dumber the mother seems, that comment isn't even really sexist, it's a personal opinion about dating preference.

[–]Pomper-26 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What an irony that not only is she weak in the role of mother, but she turned out to be more sexist, insulting and humiliating her son while discriminating against him in front of his friends

[–]michaelpaoli 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Uhm, shouldn't the punishment fit the crime?

Sounds like overkill to me. What next, mom's daughter makes a sexist comment and ... death penalty? Don't think that's the way to go.

Parent's kid says something sexist or inappropriate, etc., sure, don't let it slide. But the follow-up conversation ... and any reprisals - should be reasonable relative to the offense committed.

[–]rabel111 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

  1. It's not a sexist comment. Anything less than worship of women is not misogyny or sexist.

  2. Being his mother, doesn't mean you own him. You cannpt cancel him, only alienate him.

[–]skllyskullstyle 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just like everything feminist, there are so many ways to say or show why this is wrong.

[–]AxalonNemesis 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She just proved his point. And why is she taking offense at something he said about potential partners personally about things she does for him as his damn mom. Clearly an issue on her end.

Knowing this sub I'll probably get downvoted.... The kids comment was sexist. He generalised women are not worth the trouble. That's the same shit we're fighting against in this sub with things said against men.

Having said that she should have handled it better and educated her son.

[–]denisc9918 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He generalised women are not worth the trouble.

Oh please, he generalised a very small subset of young females, he was 16, pretty unlikely he's dating any women. Hardly the same shit the we cop.

and how else could he say it.. List all the names of every girl he knows?

Knowing this sub I'll probably get downvoted

Sure, it was a dopey comment. If you're implying otherwise I don't think you actually do know this sub.

[–]Aedrian87 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. The mother should have taught him about red flags, emotional manipulation and better ways to choose a partner.

What he said was sexist, but somewhat understandable due to his limited world experience + having a mother like the one he has.

[–]gafgone5 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, way to push him all the way from women. Just proving your sob (edit: left that typo intentionally) right in this situation, that you really aren't worth the trouble.

If anything she's proving his points and the only reason she is mad it's because there's truth to what he said. She just doesn't like the fact that he realized that at such a young age already. Kids are mostly blatantly honest without thinking about what people think about what they say and for him to have this mentality about women already at this age says a lot about the girls he's dated also.

[–]Nobleone11 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Way to go, mom. You've not only engendered hatred in them towards you but also towards women if you keep this up. Fine example of parenting there.

Why didn't you just abort him if you never wanted to raise a son? Better yet, keep your legs clenched together instead of going down on the nearest man.

[–]beecherJohnson88 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's not sexist, if you aren't straight, then women aren't worth all the bs that comes attached. Now I'm married. To a great woman. But damn if every other woman I dated wasn't batshit crazy or constantly played stupid games. Good for him. If a relationship with a woman is not desired then he has no use for one and all their drama.

[–]marks1995 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men AND women complain all over the internet that dating the opposite sex isn't worth the trouble. There is a whole movement right now about women who choose to be single because men aren't worth the trouble.

The kid is 1000% correct in what he said. Navigating the dating world with women IS difficult, especially as a teenager. When he can get his physical needs met with men, whom he understands since he is one, it makes absolute sense.

[–]stupid_pretty 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think mothering boys should be talked about more, we are our sons first experiences with women and how we raise them has a major impact on how they interact and treat women for their entire lives. This mother was wrong, 100% wrong. You can't eavesdrop then punish your kid for saying something that pisses you off. I don't think the kid is wrong, especially when he's got a mom like that, she over reacted and I have to wonder what else she's gone ballistic over. . If that was my kid I'd have asked about his experiences with girls and talked about the differences between the sexes, the biological and phycological why behind the PITAs women can be, what behaviors are understandable and what is not. I would have just shared my side and left it at that. I would never, ever punish my kids for expressing their opinion but I would want to know more about theirs, how they formed it and share my own.

[–]Low_Cranberry_4024 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That women are the superior untouchable class that he cant go against.

I mean to be fair if he doesn't learn it now he might do something unthinkable like defend himself when a girl repeatedly attacks him or refuse the advances of a female colleague publicly both those things can easily land him in jail.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Understood. Except for the first part.

Never confuse’protected’ with ‘superior’. Here’s why:

If women went on a 30-day strike, what would be the effect on society. Really think about it. It would be shitty, for sure.

Now? Imagine if MEN took that same 30-day strike. We would LITERALLY be living in shit.

Women have activated the “War Mode” flag. Not all of them, of course. But enough.

Imagine if the same amount of men activated the same flag and removed restrictions on the RoEs. It’d be like the 9th Panzer Division versus the fucking Salvation Army!!!!

Toxic schmoxic. If we weren’t good, patient humans, life would either be horrible or non-existent for most modern women.

Nearly everything they “earned” has been given. There was no woman crossing the frozen motherfucking Delaware to kill men in their sleep (on Christmas). No donning of Pussy Hats whilst raising the Womyn flag on Mt. Surabachi.

Superior? That’s like my 11year-old talking shit because I spotted him 20 points in a game of 21. And on that one point? A classic Rick Mahornesque elbow foul to the face would have stopped than nonsense. But of course I didn’t. That’s the beauty and power of masculinity. Build and caress with one hand, kill and destroy with the other. (With the strength to control both)

And they hate you for such ability.

[–]Low_Cranberry_4024 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Bro the first part was sarcastic.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh no. You and I get that.

But I’m seeing a shocking number of young men that don’t, sadly. It was mostly to remind (or first-time-inform) them.
