I’ve been divorced going on two years now. My ex wife is vindictive, bitter, and angry.. to say the very least. Anything to do with my children and I is nearly impossible and parental alienation has become a very real thing in my situation.

Ever since I was a kid and watching the negative impact my father had on me (physically, emotionally, mentally) I had always promised myself to be the best father that I could possibly be. As I deal with my ex wife more and more I am slowly realizing that my life long goal/dream of being an active father who can be a consistent role model for my children is slipping through my fingers.

I’ll never give up on my children, but coming to peace with this is extremely hard and brings a great deal of pain.

I am currently in a beautiful relationship with an outstanding woman who has one child. I’ve expressed my desire to have a child with her at some point (obviously taking life one day at a time) and the response I got was “we can revisit that idea in a couple years”

That answer does not bother me, but it does scare me. I see a wonderful future with her for multiple reasons, but I’m afraid that in a couple of years I’ll get the answer that I don’t want to hear.

The pain I’m experiencing from my ex wife and the anxiousness from overthinking the future has me in a tough mental head space. Just curious if anyone else has ever experienced either of these situations, if you came to peace with it how did you go about it, and is an answer like “we can revisit” something to stress about?

Long post, in a way I just wanted to get some of that off my chest in a private manner instead of telling people close to me. Looking forward to hearing from the group.
