Unless it was actually amicable where both parties bro'd out, gave each other fist bumps and tried to go separate ways only to find each other more tolerable, I don't see how divorced couples would get back together, especially after such trauma they go through.

Never works, never go rooting the the trash you already took out to the curb. Your time is always better spent with a fresh new perspective, and in my case 26yr old very flexible female perspective. She's beside herself with appreciation after a date night at the Outback. That's what's up, a normal down to earth woman that isn't sucking every last once of energy you have to give. I cherish my peace now, internally and externally- no room for drama, hence no going back. And I don't date single moms anymore, so ex wife is off that list for life 😜

if someone gets married once, especially when there’s kids involved, I can understand it.

My ex-wife's mom did. Her parents got divorced and married other people. Her mom divorced for a second time then got remarried to that same person. She ultimately got divorced again.

That has to be the worst move a man can make.. it gets so bad between you guys to the point she’s willing to lie to god and abandon her vows… when she finally does divorce you she’s going to make sure she’s wins and destroys you for making her stay the first time… it’s not absolute.. but it is more likely than not… be careful

My best friend’s wife left him after a year. They got back together 18mo later and remarried after 6mo. Everyone told him it was a bad idea.

They had a child, built and inherited excellent wealth, then one day, after 5 years, out of no where, she split, filed false DV charges, and filed for divorce.

Upon inspection, she had spent that time misappropriating the cash and assets and setting herself up for years. She did it in such a tidy way that he has spent over a year and $70k fighting through it, including only recently winning 1 day/week with his 6yo son. No end in sight.

I retained his lawyer for my relatively tame divorce. Everyone, including the attorney, say it’s the worst case they have ever seen.

We are all very careful not to point out that he did this to himself and we all warned him.

My wife started creating narratives of how I wasn't helping enough. We have three spoiled children that do nothing for the house. Eventually she said it out loud. I leaned into it, got a settlement favoring her drawn up. By the end of the month. She had a melt down when I gave her the papers signed by me.

Unknown to me she talked when her mother the week before. My mother in law stood up for me. Told the wife she would be crazy to divorce me. We had twenty years in, so our marriage was considered a forever marriage. I make thirty grand more than her so I knew it was going to cost me.

We talked, and she said she didn't want a divorce. In the end we agreed that the kids had to contribute doing chores. If we were less than twenty years I would have most definitely followed through. This happened three years ago and we are good as ever, but I still think about the peace that comes with living alone.

My aunt did this when I was about 8. Divorced him because he was cheating on her, and he even tried to tell the judge their kids weren’t his. Judge said no way - they looked just like him (this was about 50 years ago, so paternity tests weren’t used). So I grew up knowing Uncle was a dirtbag. Then ten years later he got cancer, his girlfriend dumped him, and my aunt remarried him so she could take care of him while he was dying, also while looking after her aging mother. She was a saint.

Today marks 22 years since she died a terrible death from a colonoscopy gone wrong.

I've heard of some that have sex from time to time.. usually one of the two think it may bring things back.. and sex might not have been a problem in the marriage. Plus a lot of people are insecure/unable to perform with others.. so its more like comfort sex. But mostly I've not heard of many ending up back together.

I cannot imagine this. My ex was bi polar and narcissistic and I'd have to be a glutton for punishment to go back to that. All the insults and hurtful comments, the sex less marriage etc. I realize maybe my situation is different but honestly Gentlemen (or ladies even), if you have someone that treats you horribly, why go back to it ever? I may not get married again, but I did find someone relation wiseafter that is nice, kind and it's wonderful just to have someone not cut you down on a daily basis. Even so, I've learned to be content in myself and realizing marriage is not what it's thought to be and unfortunately heavily skewered towards not being the best for children either when divorce court comes into play. A 1950s mindset where men get screwed even if they love and care for their children dearly.
