Unfortunately, way too many people believe the opposite is true, sadly including some people on this sub.

I think the reason why these people believe women were oppressed is because all History books put emphasis on how women were oppressed while using the situation of the 1% of men who were wealthy and powerful to make it seem like every man had it easy.

For example, they just say "Africans were abducted and forced to work as slaves in Europe" instead of saying African men, despite the fact that MEN alone were forced to work as slaves. And they also talk about how during wars, multiple people were forcefully conscripted into the military, instead of mentioning the truth and specifying that only men were conscripted.

Yet simultaneously, when only rich men were allowed to vote, these books and articles simply say "Women were not allowed to vote". Not to mention the fact that being forced to work as slaves in the army or in mines is MUCH worse than being unable to vote

Due to this emphasis on women being deprived of some rights, it causes an extremely biased view on the situation in 18th to 20th century. It really sucks that so many people nowadays buy into this bullshit and use these lies to give privileges to women.

Even if the stuff about them being oppressed and stuff was all true, it shouldn't justify giving privileges to this "oppressed class" just because their ancestors, whose existence they don't even know about, suffered. And the fact that these are mostly blatant lies makes it even worse.

TL;DR: Fuck history book writers for spreading lies about women's situation, and fuck everyone who blindly believes their bullshit without doing proper research.
