Hilarious.

“Site-wide, two-thirds of male messages go to the best-looking third of women. So basically, guys are fighting each other 2-for-1 for the absolute best-rated females, while plenty of potentially charming, even cute, girls go unwritten.”

The author then goes on to say: “On the other hand, when it comes to actual messaging, women shift their expectations only just slightly ahead of the curve, which is a healthier pattern than guys’ pursuing the all-but-unattainable. But with the basic ratings so out-of-whack, the two curves together suggest some strange possibilities for the female thought process, the most salient of which is that the average-looking woman has convinced herself that the vast majority of males aren’t good enough for her, but she then goes right out and messages them anyway.”

Yet this guy’s conclusion was: “Females of OkCupid, we site founders say to you: ouch! Paradoxically, it seems it’s women, not men, who have unrealistic standards for the “average” member of the opposite sex.”

No, have you ever been a woman looking at men on a dating app like OkCupid? They are for the most part ugly as hell. Despite that, this shows that women still give them a chance. However, men are the ones with unrealistic expectations, looking like Quasimodo messaging Victoria’s Secret models. If anything, it just shows women have more realistic expectations.

You're talking about outliers here. Like this weird-looking actor or celebrities or influencers.

If women could get intensely attracted to "meh" guys, we wouldn't be here discussing relationship dynamics. Modern dating wouldn't be such a shit show, sexlessness wouldn't be on the rise amongst men.

I can already anticipate how you gonna explain...

I'm gonna add that once again today:

In two longitudinal studies (one spanning one year and one spanning four years), the researchers found that, on average, women’s levels of sexual desire were not only lower than men’s at the beginning of their marriages, but much more variable than men’s. Men’s levels of sexual desire stayed higher and more constant than women’s throughout the duration of both studies.

Furthermore, declines in women’s sexual desire predicted declining marital satisfaction for both members of the couple. Interestingly, although women’s sexual desire declined over time, couples’ sexual frequency did not, suggesting that women were likely to engage in sex even when they did not desire it.

Because these data were collected over time, the authors were also able to assess the reverse possibility—that declining marital satisfaction was predictive of less sexual desire. However, this was not supported by the data.

For those couples who became new parents during the course of the study, wives’ sexual desire declined even more steeply, yet men’s sexual desire still tended to remain stable. However, the authors stress that because couples without children also showed declines, parenthood is not the only challenge for women’s sexual desire and couples’ marital satisfaction.

The authors suggest that women’s sexual desire may function not only to facilitate reproduction, but also to enable pair bonding. They speculate that once couples marry, women may not feel as strong a need for sex to secure their bond with their husbands.

So much for being intensely attracted to a "meh" guy...

This is the crucial error here. The average woman does not message men at all. Conversely, the extremely rare woman who does message men messages them regardless of their attractiveness. A fair interpretation of that fact would be to say that men across all levels of attractiveness are equally unlikely to receive a first message from women.

A more cautious interpretation of that fact would question the validity of those messages. Could it be that spam messages are skewing the statistics here? I had an account on old OkCupid, and the only time I got a first message there it was some sort of marketing thing. Obviously, spam would not discriminate by attractiveness.

Just because you're not attracted to a guy doesn't mean he is ugly. A lot of guys are looking for genuine connections, too. They don't deserve to be insulted any more than I do.

A lot of incels / red pillers cite out that "study" to avoid responsiblity for themselves and shame women into dating crappy partners. But the survey shows 2/3 of men messaging the top third of women. So their survey shows male users are not much better, AND it's not even sociological research done in a clinical setting. It was probably a survey intended for Okcupid to write a blog article and keep users engaged to their brand. No scientific value.

See that? I created a nice little argument defending women from the vile accusations that always come up from citing that survey. And I managed to do so without insulting normal, mentally balanced men who have better things to do than blame their lack game on crap statistics.

Hilarious.

What is hilarious is that you take the guys word on this. You think he's going to say 'sorry ugly guys, you don't stand a chance'?? Of course they're going to try to find some way to make it sound better. Delusional LVM are their bread and butter, women certainly aren't paying their bills.

That data shows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OF THE SORT.

The F->M messaging simply shows hot women don't send messages. That is all. The hotter the woman the less chance she sends messages, dropped off to near zero at 4/10. So if all men are messaging victoria secret models why are all the 4-7's sending zero messages??

Seriously, people have to learn basic graphs...
