I have been thinking lately about the term gendered insults as they are often used in the reports. Why is there an issue if a negative term or even a positive term orignates from something gendered (biological or something more social)?

Is the word whore a gendered insult if used about a man considering it being used mainly for women?

Under the Bill, tech companies will have a duty to find and remove illegal content being distributed through their social networking platforms.

But this could mean doing away with 'end-to-end encryption' - a security feature which scrambles messages to ensure that only the sender and recipient can read them.

Messaging services that use it, including WhatsApp, Signal, Viber and Element, have signed an open letter opposing the Online Safety Bill ahead of its final reading in the House of Lords.

'The UK government is currently considering new legislation that opens the door to trying to force technology companies to break end-to-end encryption on private messaging services,' it reads.

'The law could give an unelected official the power to weaken the privacy of billions of people around the world.

'We don't think any company, government or person should have the power to read your personal messages and we'll continue to defend encryption technology.'

This could simply be another veil for the next iteration of the crypto wars.

While there is misogyny on the internet like revenge porn etc... and that should be illegal. the issue is this is mostly feminists trying to censor growing criticisms of feminists. Things like this sub that criticize the lies around DV and the sneering at male issues and the growing special privileges for girls like female only classes in schoos that block boys while girls are already ahead. Or copious amounts of female only grants, bursaries, stipends, PHds, MBAs etc when men (even minority men) are blocked. Then the hypocrisy of not enough women in Engineering while women dominate healthsci, biology, teaching etcc into the 90%+ ranges and how the love it!

They dont want all of this questioned and online is where its hapening.

I'd love to talk to the people trying to push this and have their definition for what "misognynistic abuse" is. 100% they're conflating actual hatred of women, with someone simply shit talking them as an individual. If you was those platforms and you are being threatened jail you'd just stop dealing with the UK because it sets the risks beyond business risk. The UK will be like China where a whole bunch of sites just cannot be seen without you breaking the law.

If women are so strong and empowered that they want anti-feminists banned. Then OK.

So if a woman asks me for assistance in lifting something, I'll politely (maybe bluntly) decline and state that I believe women don't need men either.

'Excuse me sir, can you reach that thing for me"? Again "No".

"I need a jump start, can you help me?" Again "No"

Need your yard mowed, Furniture moved? Something delivered? Again "No"

For which I'd ask, "Don't you have female friends to call and help you with that stuff?"

Wife, girl friend, etc, asks for you to help her female friend do stuff? "No" is the answer.

Need your car fixed? Go find a female mechanic.

Need electrical stuff done? Go find a female electrician.

Plumbing problems? You got it girl. Fix it yourself or go find a female plumber.

Need something assembled? Do it yourself or ask your female friend.

Need a new appliance? You go gjrl. Pick it up and install it yourself or have a female delivery crew drop it off.

Furnace or A/C needs fixed? You got it, that female technician has your back.

Power goes out in a winter storm? No problem, that all female crew will be right on it restoring the power.

At this point the UK economy needs the services provided by social media companies alit more than the social media companies need them. Additionally good luck developing a tech sector in the UK if there is a crap load of censorship that they have to adhere to.
