It is mostly an internet thing. The vast majority of Americans have no idea what any of this shit means beyond "is that something from The Matrix?"

TRP is mainly a social media phenomenon that have some basis on reality, particularly on OLD and hookup culture.

It has its merits but obviously a large part of its theories are exaggerated.

The thing is: The RP has higher standards than average Joes because the nature of the pill is very image, status, and reputation oriented.

The RP openly advocates for men to level up and chase after fit, attractive women with no kids in the 18-25 or 18-30 age range.

The demand for these women is higher than for other types of women. As a result, a number of RPers feel disheartened by their lack of success with this targeted demographic of women. And this leads to to erroneously assume that their dating/hookup experiences reflects that of most men.

The reality is: the average couple and family in the U.S. consists of plain and unremarkable people across all age groups with some being distinctively hot and some being distinctively ugly. That's what you'll mainly see at most American retail stores, restaurants, malls, grocery stores, the DMV, amusement parks, public transit, etc.

But the hookup scene and OLD is a different world by itself and where the RP theories hold the most weight. Even then, it's a bit exaggerated.

Overall, in any part of the world, RP will make the most sense as it pertains to hookup culture and OLD. Outside of that, it's a very exaggerated phenomenon.

It's not an American thing, it's more of an imaginary thing. Average and even below average guys have relationships with women in America all the time, and the idea that they don't is basically an ego-defense mechanism for those of us who don't. The idea of women only wanting the top 20% of men is based on a very sloppy reading of an old ok-cupid study, that if anything actually supported the opposite point. The study showed that only 20% of men were rated as above average in attractiveness. Basically, a lot of TRP and Incel types stopped reading at that point. A man who describes a woman as below average is likely to consider her undatable (at least he's more likely to think this, then a woman is to think a man she considers below average appearance is undatable), so a lot of TRP / Incels projected this mindset onto the women and thus interpreted this data to mean only the top 20% were viewed as dateable. If these guys had bothered to read the rest of the study they'd have seen it showed women were far more likely to message men they rated as below average, than men were to message women they considered below average. And as I recall, this gap was not only big enough to make up for women's less generous perceptions of men's appearance, it was big enough that women were less likely to clear a guy's attractiveness bar than vice versa.

Average guys in the US date too. Obviously it's a lot harder if you're short and autistic, but not impossible, if your standards are realistic.

The Red Pill has been on the spanish-sphere for decades thanks to tango, folk or pop singers such as spaniards Raphael and Serrat or the argentinian Gardel, Goyeneche or Castaña, rock bands like Soda Stereo, Riff or Heroes del Silencio, and pretty much culture itself. Hispanic men have quite a "macho" culture of not taking bullshit from women, be confident and peakocking a lot or could approaching women just for fun...

Hell, even books as "Mi Novia: Manual de Instrucciones" (My Girlfriend: Instruction Manual) from Fabio Fusaro and his called "I.D.Q.s", the spanish equivalent of "Red Flags" and even the old Esther Vilar herself with her book "The Manipulated Man", which has been said inspired TRP on it's beginings, have been around for literally decades by now.

And don't let me started with Cervantes, José Hernández and... Well... The good ol' Machiavello?

Machiavello was italian I mean, but you can make a case of him, italian men and their closely related argentinian fellow who have a reputation among latin american women of being womanizers, liars and "sweet talking" their ways into women's pants for fun.

Still, the Red Pill has gone mainstream in the last decade here, and you can see it just in the way kids talk for example. Words like "Incel", "Beta", "Simp" and so are common nowadays.

It doesn't help that women act pretty much as an homogenous hivemind, which helps men to relate a lot more to the Red Pill phylosophy.

Even in Argentina and Spain, two countries separated by the Atlantic ocean, kids have their own nicknames for these "archetypical" assholes who always get the girls on the sole virtue of being bad guys. In Argentina you have the "Tincho", the rich handsome boy who fucks around, and the "Jonatan" who's basically the broke ass baby daddy's type who get women pregnant and run away, while in Spain you have foreign men from poorer economic backgrounds being characterized as "dangerous" pretty much running game on local girls haha.

All in all, I think yeah, The Red Pill is aknowdeleged as a concept, in some way, shape or form, in pretty much the entire western world among the male population.

Still, women's dating choices paterns and trends are far more popular among the female crowd hahahaha. Girls have the male population across continents scratching their heads these days.

Kid you not, I speak four different languages fluently, apart from a bit of german and french...

I can say "It's not you, it's me" in six different languages total, and believe it or not, german, french, english, spanish, italian and portuguese men will understand "It's not you, it's me... And the other guy", 10 out of 10 times.

Not all women are the same, but they look alike more often than not, and act quite similarly. It was a matter of time men across he globe started to figuring women's out.

Different countries might have different weighting in what is important, but the fundamentals of TRP are everywhere.

Men in Korea or Hong Kong are talking about how feminism ruined their local female population.

Men in Japan or Taiwan consider women to hit the wall as they age.

Men in China are going to be to talking about status and game.

If anything TRP is more common outside the US, they just don't label it "The Red Pill".

Somewhere in the 2000's, when I was like 12 years old one of my uncles, who was like 20 something at the time, handled me a book called "Mi novia: Manual de Instrucciones" (My Girlfriend: Instruction Manual) by Fabio Fusaro, an argentinian writter, and it was written in the late 90's.

The book is pretty much a Redpill handbook on how to navigate relationships with women, with the only difference that "Red Flags" here are called "I.D.Q.s" or "Indicadores De Quilombo" ("Troubble Signs).

It's overall a good read, quite fun indeed since the writter tells lots of funny anecdotes he heard from friends or learned from pacients (he's a psychologist I think).

The Redpill has been in the spanish-speaking community since the 70's and 80's thanks to writters and thinkers such as Dolina, Fusaro and (of course) the very Esther Vilar herself (she was of argentinian-german origins) and her book "The Manipulated Man" which is often said to have inspired The Red Pill on it's beginings.

It's an internet thing and the target audience isn't average / neurotypical men. 'Average' people get socialized young and follow a relatively normal development path and end up with average looking partners, which is why you experienced. It's undersocialized / neglected or autistic or both kids that need this stuff or didn't develop dating skills young.

I think TRP and dating toxicity is accelerated by American capitalism but the same thing applies globally; women's hypergamy, men valuing purity, women liking height, etc

American women especially in gen Z have higher standards and more height bias. This is due to online dating and a degradation of our morals and culture. 80/20 here is worse especially for young people although I’d imagine it isn’t like this in every country.

The top 20% thing is an exaggeration, but it is based in reality. I don't think a lot of guys talk about it in real life, because it makes you look very pathetic even if it is true. It is basically admitting that women don't like you, which is how a man's value is measured.

Rp is not an american thing. RP hasn't invented anything new, but collected general principles that have been around the whole world for centuries.

I live in Europe and few here know about TRP, but it still works. If you meet someone mentioning TRP, they usually aren't talking about TRP but about incels and autists spewing hatred against women online (not much different from the views many have in here).

You have to remember that TRP is not some universal rule that applies to all men. For most men TRP is nonsense and they are not interested in applying any of it in their lives. Most men are perfectly happy and content being an average Joe, have an average body and finances and be in a relationship with an average woman. They are perfectly content with the "happy wife - happy life" mindset. Nothing wrong with that. If they are happy, who are we to judge?

But for some men, that life is not good enough. They want more financial freedom, they actively want a healthy and good looking body. They want strong social skills. And they don't want a average partner who happens to like them, they want options between several way above average women to chose for a relationship.

For these men, TRP is a praxiology where you can use some or all the understandings of TRP to reach those goals.
