Is the term “pick me” over used?

It’s definitely overused. Often times when I see a woman being called a pick me it’s when she’s calling other women out on their bullshit

It is overused, its also not a bad thing. I'd love to be with a girl who is a pick me, I want someone who not only wants me but actually makes an effort to let me know she wants to be with me. People using this term unironically are extremely masculine and disagreeable women that no men are picking, hence why they use the term so derisively. You've got it used for grifters like Pearly Things but that's just idiots failing to realize that shes grifting for clout and cash and wants as much negative attention as possible.

Its been turned into a way for women to keep other women in line. If you don't hate men and see them as the enemy, they call you pick me. Women don't have to do anything to get Male attention so the original definition has become obsolete.

I actually think it’s under used. To me, pick mes prioritize male attention (from a specific men or general validation) over their friends. Like ditching them while going out, cancelling plans, or pursuing a guy you’re interested in or have a history with. Cassie from Euphoria and Ariana Grande are great examples of this. Pick me behavior is more than just “cringe;” it harms other people due to selfishness.

A pick me imo is a woman who puts down other women to lift herself up to seem more “appealing”. It’s a sign of deep insecurity and bitterness toward women they feel threatened by.

Non pick me “I don’t like clubbing”

Pick me “I don’t like clubbing, unlike other women I’m not trashy and begging for attention etc etc” or whatever drivel they come out with, idk I don’t hang out with those sorts.

On the flip side, I think “pick me” is overused as an insult to describe women who simply like/want different things and that’s also problematic.

A "pick me" is just a female simp. And yes, it's overused. A woman being a pick me should only be criticized when it's clear that men are just using her, just as being a "simp" should only be criticized when it's clear that the women who a man is simping for have no actual sexual interest in him.

I have been called a pickme in virtually every internet debate with strangers where a profile picture with me in it is visible where I say anything remotely supporting men, which isn't the classic "men aren't allowed to be vulnerable" feminist line which is the only thing you're allowed to say in favor of men pretty much lol.

But I like the spirit of the insult, even if it's overused. I like having a term to call out "not like other girls" genre of misogyny because it's very real.

So I guess it's overused imo, but what insult isn't on the internet. I haven't been called that irl.

A "pick me" is not going to have a positive outlook towards men. Being a pick me comes from low self-esteem and desperation. Healthy people don't need to scream pick me at their own detriment for affection

Yes, just like the incel term. Incel term is used more often on men who call out women for their bad behaviour. Pick me nowadays is used on women who actually support men and stand up for men. Pearlythings and ShoeonHead are 2 prime examples of so called "pickmes" just because they support men.

Why are we pretending men dont do this too? Plenty of guys have fucked their best friend’s girlfriend/wife.

I am called a "pick me" every time i argue against an absurd male position where they paint women as the problem. The term is used instead of having an argument, as an insult, to get the discussion on an emotional fighting level, so actual arguments go out the window.
