where are you guys getting your definitions of feminism/feminists?

? I don't need to know formal definition of X to know, what X is (and what X is about). Heck, I've checked now wiki's definition, and of course, it's fundamentally wrong.

I define feminism as political movement fighting for more rights, options, priviliges, power for women.

Simple and precise enough.

Currently, I see feminism as a women's advocacy group. That is to say that it is centered around that which benefits women.

I've held this opinion ever since I was in middle school and really started paying attention to history, statistics, and social dynamics. To put a measurable timeline to this, that was almost 30 years ago.

Before that, I accepted what I was told; that it was about equality. But I couldn't help but notice that this "equality" was never distributed evenly in all regards. There was never a call for equal treatment if it were to a woman's detriment. In many cases, it was actually equity that was being fought for. But only in regards to things where the benefits outweighed the cons.

To be clear, I'm not bothered by this. It's human nature to try to stack things that are better for you while avoiding things that wouldn't be. I just wish people call it what it is.

It is not about the definition of something, but it is about how that is applied. Feminism is good by definition, but when it is applied ,it just divides the sexes. It is about equality only where it benefits women, they don't want true equality. They don't want the same hard jobs as men or to de brafted to war as men. They want equal outcome, not equal opportunity. And in order to obtain that power over men they try to play out the victim and it works most of the time. They portray all men as these evil humans trying to hurt women when in reality only a minority of men are evil, most men are actually good hard working citizens.

I don't think I ever put too much thought into feminism prior to 2011 (when UN Women was founded), as I was a little bit busy with postgrad stuff and military service.

Math. Scratch the surface of any feminist reform, and you can count how much money has turned around from people who earned it to people who have it now, widely speaking. When it continues for several centuries, you kinda start understanding that none of this was a coincidence.

I think the problem of a lot of Feminism is that there's a noticable cohort of feminists who have the same kind of mentality as posters on incel forums, but targetted towards men.

I've seen posts of happy couple moments with women in the replies ascribing some sort of narcisstic evil underlying motive to the man's actions. Don't get me wrong, men have this mindset too, you'll see it in these braindead redpill influencer circles like the TaterTots or Fresh and Fit fans.

Feminism is a female advocacy movement.

For my definition I look at the behaviour of feminists. People running to dictionaries or “what this person says” are coping. Look at what people do. And what I see is feminists advocating for female rights and subsequently ignoring or sometimes downplaying male concerns so I can’t regard them as an equality movement, no matter what the dictionary says or what some feminist tells me “is the real essence of feminism”.

If a guy stands in front of me having gutted someone and says “I’m a pacifist” I’d be a fool to believe him. He might not like me calling him a murderer, but it’s accurate. If that makes him feel bad about himself, that’s too bad. If he wants to be known as a pacifist he should behave like one. Not just coerce people into believing he is.

My maternal feminist man hating sisters who ruined my life because she thought I was going end up like the arseholes she dated and so shamed me, tormented me and emotionally abused me and put it in my head that I'll end up becoming a monster at 14. I developed depression and anxiety as a result of those experiences, and other factors, and lost my good looks as a result of the stress and developed lifelong mental health issues that made be invalid for relationships with women most of whom find my emotional wounds repulsive since being anxious a d depressed is a major ick. I Could have had a great 20s if I wasnt raised by man hating feminists who were willing to damage their little brother because they couldn't reconcile with their dark sexual preferences and expectations of masculinity that ran contrary to their progressive ideology and need a little boy shaped punching bag to punch whenever they were taken advantage by their Alpha males partners. I guess it their form of collective punishment a d I had to suffer for the crimes of their partners.

I live in the USA so I'm referring to feminism in this country. I think any definition of feminism relies on the belief that the patriarchy exists and men are the oppressors of women. I don't agree with either of these ideas so I don’t consider myself a feminist. Even if these weren't requirements, I still wouldn't be a feminist because this movement is very gynocentric and women's issues are overexposed. My energy is better spent worrying about the much more ignored men's issues. I don't think feminism intentionally aims for female supremacy, but it advocates for the unrestricted empowerment of women. If this is left unchecked, men would be further ignored. The feminist movement can't be relied on to police themselves.

A movement for the empowerment/emancipation of women, each feminism defines how the emancipation should happen differently e.g. pro sex work vs anti sex work feminists.

I’ve always seen Feminism as a joke ideology for hypocritical women who demand “equality” while simultaneously expecting special treatment - from day one, the Suffragettes wanted suffrage for the women of their class, but were staunchly anti-trade union, and quite happy to shame working class men into going to the trenches to die en masse. A lot of the British ones also joined the British Union of Fascists.

When I was kid, “Feminism” was either a derogatory term applied to hairy women in with BO in dungarees, or empty, asinine marketing slogans used to sell Spice Girls records. In the 2010s it morphed into an ultra-obnoxious, openly misandrist branch of toxic liberalism that, for all its proclamations of fighting for equality, sought to place white middle class women at the top of the privilege hierarchy via childish culture war stunts aimed at spitefully disrupting and hijacking male spaces (e.g. Gamer Gate) whilst pushing an ideology that was little more than a collection of juvenile insults (e.g. using “male tears” to mock men’s mental health).

It’s also, at its heart, a reactionary and conservative movement that’s a barrier to any attempt at achieving real change - e.g. Sanders was supposed to make way for a warmongering neoliberal fossil because it was “her turn”, and when he had the audacity to challenge her coronation, he and his supporters were relentlessly smeared as misogynists and other insults, because for feminists, progress simply means a women shoring up a failed system.

Similarly, in the UK, feminists were at the forefront of opposing Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party and driving the smear campaign directed at him and his supporters; the end result was that we now have a hollowed out Labour Party that will shortly assume office and continue the same failed policies the incumbent regime, but with a handful of liberal girlbosses in prominent positions.

Feminism and the Red Pill are two cheeks of the same arse - an ideological fig leaf for people who want special treatment while wallowing in victim hood.

First definition: Women should be treated equal to men in all aspects of life.

Current definition: Want all the rights that men have without responsibilities. No accountability. Want equality only when convenient. Built on a false foundation that men oppressed women.

What influenced the change: Observing feminists. Every single issue that men face, they will actively work to prevent a reasonable solution to it. They want the right to vote who governs the nation but they don't want the responsibility to defend the nation. They want to be equal to men but won't marry someone who earns less. They want special treatments when equality inconveniences them. They want 50% representation in white collar jobs but not in blue collar jobs. They want to be paid as much as men while generating 1/10th the revenue. The list is long.

Feminism has hurt me more. Back in school we only knew as women empowerment was girls getting more recognition for doubts, first choice for debates, quizzes and cultural events, and being offered much more support. What made it worse was that it was a boarding school and we had female caretakers when little. They taught us to suppress emotions and also refused to help with little tasks such as sewing a torn cloth. Girls were given preference in education like timetables were adjusted according to them at the expense of our mental and physical health despite multiple complaints. Basically, it was shown that female empowerment means stepping on males.

After school I came to know this thing has a name and I have hated it ever since.

Prominent left-wing politicians(members of parliament) calling men refusing conscription 'manlets' - and cynically saying that 'someone has to be in the army'. This party is supported by young women identifying as feminists.
Plenty of 'women in tech' programs giving jobs to women at the expense of more competent men. It's a result of feminist agenda.
Countless amount man-hating content on social media.
Boys issues in school dismissed with simple 'oh they don't behave well so they fail'. Ofc it's the 8yo fault that education fails them, again feminist shaming at it's finest.
Aggressive promotion of anti-natalism - left-wing feminist message is that modern men are not good enough so women should not be having children with them.

Feminism is about hoarding privilege by women at the expense of men and dehumanization of men reducing them to cannon fodder and laborers.

Feminism and the world. Girls were preferred over boys in my school over doubts, debates, cultural programmes, etc. Even though I am currently jobless, I am the only one from my batch with two mechanical degrees so guess who was better? I still struggle with stage fright, hyperventilate in crowds, and have difficulty maintaining eye contact while talking to people as I scan the environment for I don't know what reasons. Teachers wouldn't help us boys so we became hyperindependent capable of performing tasks that took multiple people to do while keeping calm and composure. I had an interview with a tech company last month and I told them I can work in a team but I work better alone.
