I’m gearing up to motion for 30% custody. Post divorce I had a bad living situation, now I’m good to go. If signed off by the judge, that should cut money out of my CS (I pay 1,250/mo). She also makes more money than at the moment.

Also I play poker (low $40) tables just to see if I can make 2-3X my buy.

I Door dash/Uber eats. I like it only because nobody is in my car and I get to listen to podcasts while I make some extra gas money/buy in money.

I also love dipping in fantasy drafts ie draft kings etc. baseball season is my sht and I have placed a few times in 5 digits winnings (obviously ex wife gave me sht), but now i do what i want and have some time to scout before the day and games start so there is action all day. I play $2-$10 entries.

I also filed BK7 last month and have not used a CC in the last 2 years since my separation so I’m very aware of my spending. That’s also a big contribute to start slowly building your bankroll. Cutting out irrelevant spending will also help you achieve that.

Fulfillment by Amazon, and other forms of passive income. It's recommended to have 5 streams of income. Used to be you could sell on eBay and no income was reported.

Look at your divorce decree. If you are an hourly employee, your CS is calculated based on your 40-hour-a-week paycheck. If you were to work OT or a second job, you keep 100% of that.

Many times exwives (my exwife included) have tried to get that overtime calculated in.

In my exwife's case, she refused to work, saying she was "too sick to work". But at my job, there are times where I did get a bit of OT. So she argued in court, that since I can work OT, my CS calculations should be based on that. And if I wasn't working OT? I should be working a second job -- so I can pay her more.

The judge said "no". And my CS was based on my 40 hour/week job, and for her? She got an imputed income of minimum wage 40 hours/week, so my CS payment to her was minimal.

Do what my ex did, tell her that the more she wants the less she'll get because the kids get it for an education and if she wants to be the bad guy and ruin there education she can tell them. If you have to sell or buy her out you can use that for education again or slip it in on as clild support. Also tell her it's better if we split the costs between our houses. You pay for them at your house and I'll pay at mine, extra curricular and medical you split. I'm not sure if I missed anything but I will help or find help for you.

I like this thread. Money has been one of the main problems for me, every ex goes after it, we know that...

I'm self-employed and incorporated but offer engineering pro services. Income is ok. Also have a side hustle. I'm comfortable with making money.

She wants income statements of my business every year so that child support can be adjusted every year. Also she'll be looking at expenses my business has? Still negotiating these terms but sounds like bs.

After all that she'll be taking I need to make some adjustments to business structure, who knows maybe crypto. I'll consult with lawyer to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal but I don't think responding to unreasonable requests Is unreasonable. She can get a better job if she needs money, or have her boyfriend buy her dinner (do boyfriends pay for dinner to single moms? I sometimes don't know...). Am I gaming the system? I'd say no! I was a hard worker and now I'm going to work smart, myself, my health time with my kid is more important.

I have a LLC, I door dash, and run a Etsy shop for side hustles and those pay well. Nice thing with a LLC is you can pay for things under business expenses and as long as you don't pay yourself out it doesn't count as income. That's just my two cents, do with it what you will.

Take custody of your children then she can pay you , that's what I did. However the child support agency seems to low ball her income so she is only paying me half what I used to pay her, and she is always several months behind with no consequences.

Get incorporated and get your relatives on your payroll and pay them and get it back later to your mom’s account.

This or something along those lines is what I’m hoping to, in your incorporation the salary you pay out is gonna be calculated as expenses but you need trustable people in your life to pull this off.

My concern is that any extra money I make will become the new baseline down the road. Sure, I could grind 60 hours a week and make tons of extra cash, but that’s just going to bite me later on when she could claim that this is just my normal income
