Yep! I've actually experienced something horrible here.

When I was in college, I was working in data entry for a small company. My colleagues were almost all women. Well, one day, one of the women (around 25, female) was telling me about how she recently went on birth control, and explained that because of that, her boyfriend can start "turning her into a Twinkie instead of a Toaster Strudel."

I laughed awkwardly and said, "Oh, lucky him."

She reported me to HR. Hilariously, the HR manager who came down on me had previously given me explicit details about the time she worked at a phone sex line.

Women are not held to any standards whatsoever.

I just went through my company’s quarterly compliance trainings and there was one significant change to the harassment training. Now victims of harassment must belong to a protect group or class. The harassment policy at my company now excludes cis, white men. This is the stupidest dystopia.

3) Strictly limit conversations with female co-workers to required business matters,

When metoo was all companies where worried about, I had to go through mandatory antisexual harassement training. This what in a public funded school, so most of the cushy admin jobs were held by women. Being in IT, out departement was mostly male.

The training was basically : Men, stop sexually harassing women! All the examples of harassement were with a male aggressor and female victim. The only time a man was a victim, he was harassed by an other man.

In the mean time, almost on a weekly basis, I was on the receiving end of comments that were sexual harassement, stuff thar would have seen me fired if had just said it once. All the other techs also said the exact same thing.

That's when I decided to find a new job.

Can confirm this to be true. Male elementary teacher here.

At my school the women greatly outnumber the men. At lunch it’s 12 women and 3 men. Some of the things I have heard would get me walked out if I said them.

The women are free to openly discuss dates, hookups, guys on dating apps, and how easy it is to be a man because we can stand to pee and don’t have to deal with “cycles.”

All see themselves as prizes to be won. In reality most, if not all men, would exit quickly as soon as these women open their mouths and spew their views for all to hear.

They are their own worst enemy.

Avoid female-dominated work environments like the plague.

If you want to advocate for yourself or "fight the system," do that on your off hours. But if you're on the clock, at least do yourself the favor of not intentionally putting yourself in fraught, uncomfortable environments.

If that means developing new skills to make yourself more appealing to more male-friendly workplaces, then do that. Obviously.

It's more like women feel the need to be political at work. Toxic male this or that. Me too. Fat acceptance. Bla bla bla. Having just retired from 25 years of working for software companies, I've experienced lectures from just about everyone from some gen z HR admin all the way to the goddamn CEO about how there's 'systemic' isms. I've been urged to name a woman who inspires me for National Women's Day. Ive watched entire company cultures crumble when some feminist gets in charge of a department. I've seen companies prioritize being a diverse company over being a profitable company.

Thank Christ I retired.

"Female" is not a noun, it's an adjective. You don't say "a female" you'd say "a female human" or "a female person"

That sucks, and I'm sorry you have to go through that. But let me clarify: I'm sorry that you have to hold yourself to a standard of behavior that you feel your coworkers do not, not that you are having to hold yourself to a standard of behavior.

Where I have less sympathy is that christ - who hasn't felt that way? I felt that way as a gay man in the office; black people felt that way; woman have felt that way; unfuckable people have felt that way.

So on the one hand, the double standard is completely maddening and unfair. And on the other hand, double standards like this aren't new at all, and it's just your turn. And while I'm not trying to be dismissing of your experience, I think the perspective is useful.

Then say something to them. That’s what women do. I was the only woman at my work for almost 30 yrs. If they got too raunchy I would say something to them, not my boss. Try that.
