You basically just described my life. Only advice I could offer comes from my therapist who told me you have to make her feel it’s in her best interest to move out. Mine has been earning money but not contributing to any of the household expenses so my lawyer cleared me telling her if she wants to live in the house, she has to cover the utilities because she has them in her name only. He also told me that (at least in my state), the court looks at where the money for the bills is coming from to prevent false claims of contribution. Also document everything

If your lawyer hasn’t ok’d your move out…move back in! You run the risk of being forced to give the house to her.

My now exwife tried to do that. With our 6 & 8 year old daughters.

The house we lived in was always my separate and sole property house and there was a deed disclaimer on it, as we were only married 3 weeks when we closed on the new build house. So to keep the peace when I filed for divorce, I moved out. But I made it clear to my now exwife, "You'll need to get a job and a new place to live." And that I would be going for 50/50 custody. My exwife refused to work.

My exwife told them? She said, "Daddy is trying to take our house away and leave us homeless."

So my 6 year old came to me to ask me about that. I told her, "The three of us, you and me and your sister, will never be homeless. I work hard at my job to afford this house and my car and everything else."

I thought nothing of it. Then the next evening my exwife called me up, screaming at me. I had to hang up on her 3 times. Apparently, my 6 year old said to her mom, "Great news mommy. This is daddy's house and he works at his job to pay for this house. If you get a job, you can get your own house."

My exwife didn't like that answer -- she wanted to keep the house, have me pay loads of Alimony and CS, so she could continue to be a SAHM. Yeah, that didn't pan out.

Document, document, document. And keep a voice-activated recording device nearby when interacting with the stbx. It sucks, but collect as much evidence as you can to avoid the he said, she said issues as much as possible.

I feel for you and your kids. Some people have no shame in trying to manipulate situations to meet their needs.

The best thing you can do for your kid(s), and as hard as it may be, stay amicable. Don't stoop to her level. Still be firm with ex, but stay positive and kind in front of the kids. At 13, you may be able to give her some surface level stuff of what's going on, but don't talk Ill of her mom. She'll soon find out who the problem is, and she remember you as the cool headed one.
