I've been on four dates, total.

First one was in 2010, girl from work invited me over to her house for dinner. She made risotto.

Second one was in 2012. Girl at university struck up a conversation with me, we got to talking online and I took her to an Italian restaurant. As I was driving her home from the date we agreed to become boyfriend and girlfriend and stayed together for six years.

Third one was in 2020. Girl I met through D&D found an excuse to PM me and we got to talking. This was during lockdown so we'd do little virtual dates like watching movies on watchparty. She came over to my place for dinner and that was the first time we properly met in person. I made homemade pizza.

Fourth one was in 2023. Girl I met through D&D asked me to go for a walk with her. She bought me ice cream. I asked her out and took her to an upscale Chinese restaurant, then to the arcade. We had hot chocolates after.

That's it, the sum total of my dating experience.

I honestly don't ever remember going on a first date, usually we either "hanged out" before we started dating or our "1st date" was of a sexual nature

When it comes to 2nd dates.

Women will not do a 2nd date largely if they're not attracted to the guy. That's the main reason for not getting a 2nd date.

Men will do 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc dates even if they're not attracted.

There was a stretch where I went on about 1 new date per week for an entire year, so safe to say 50. I generally take dates to starbucks the 1st time I meet them. I am meeting them off dating apps and friends of friends. I take roughly half of them home? I didn't keep track of my success rate entirely. No LTRs that year obviously.

In 2023 I went on 4 first dates - The dates were ok, we had a lot to talk about but usually the one us wasn’t feeling a connection - 1 was at a boba shop, 1 was at a barcade, and 2 were at a really nice shopping center with cafes, restaurants. and live music - I found them on Hinge, Bumble, and Coffee Meets Bagel - Nope, no LTR

When I was dating a lot, I went on 1-4 first dates a week. I didn’t have many bad experiences, but not a lot of great ones either. As one might expect, most were mediocre… there was nothing wrong with them, but we just weren’t a match. Usually the lack of chemistry was mutual. We did coffee dates, ice cream dates, occasionally lunch dates. Cheap and low stakes. I found most of them on apps. I didn’t go home with any of the first dates. I found several long term relationships and eventually found my husband.

In last year I had maybe 6-7 first dates, but I had not really "clicked" with any of them. I think that is not much (no matter that some people have even less dates) since I probably would need between 50 and 100 first dates before I can meet the "right person", and 10 or more years can pass until then (I have not dated at all for several years, anyway).

Like 7 years back I went on about 3 first dates in a few months. 1 had a second date. And the third ended up being my bf.

Starting from the spring of 2006 and until the end of the summer of 2007 I went full player and I went to a new date every week, and in some weeks stretching two. So it should add up to at least 60. Maybe more, but I didn't quite count.

If you count 11 months as an LTR, then yes.

I wasn't looking for one though. I was more than content with a string of ONS and FWB type of arrangements.

If I were 22 again, I'd definitely do it again with some minor changes (I wouldn't choose Croatia in 2024 and would likely spend more time in Romania and Greece). I'd do it again now too should my marriage collapse, but at a slower pace. Putting up with weeks-long strings of odd sleep is much more difficult at 40 than at 20, lol.

I've been on 12 first date this year so far, all girls 21-30. I'm counting casual hook ups as dates too because I guess that's the ultimate date. All led to 2nd dates, I got physical with all (kissing, heavy petting) but only actually had sex with 10 of them.

1st dates: 12

2nd dates: 12

3rd dates: 5

4+: 1 (fwb I still see)

I'm just looking for casual which is why I don't tend to date for long. Not looking for LTR as my current situation doesn't allow for it. I can't really prove this so I guess you just have to take my word for it.

I'm going to guess in the vicinity of 20 or so in an 8 month stretch between long term relationships.

Most dates weren't bad, we just didn't really click. There were two I remember as being distinctly bad, and three or four I remember as being great.

My go-to was a local dive bar that had a bunch of stuff like pool tables and dartboards so that if things were going well, we could shoot pool or do something else while we chatted. But if there was something in her profile that sparked an idea, I would tailor it around that. One woman loved board games, so we went to a coffee shop she hadn't been to that had dozens and dozens of board games. Another woman was gushing about how cute my dog was and how she loved dogs, so we met up at a dog park and I brought my dog with me. I can only think of one woman that I took to an expensive restaurant as a first date, because she had mentioned really loving sushi and there was a great sushi place nearby.

All of them were through apps except for one woman I hit it off with at a bar while I was out one night with some friends.

Yes. Two women in that mix I wanted to date long term but it fell apart early (one after a month and one after three weeks) before I ended up with my next LTR, which lasted a little over a year.

I would guess around 45ish? When I was 21 I was getting almost a date a week. Most were obviously just interviews so not enjoyable onto themselves. It was the "work" afterwards that was fun. I would take them to somewhat cheap restaurants and cafes close to my house. I found most through OLD. But it was very varied. My success rate was abysmal. like 30% but it gave me good experience. no LTRs I was after sex. not love.

I started using the apps again about 2.5 months ago:

10 first dates. I am currently still dating 3 of them. Will probably go on another 1st date this week. I know 4 at a time is fucking deranged but I'm just experimenting.

I had a good time on all but 2, they were really awkward. I could tell they didn't find me that attractive the moment they saw me.

Usually out to drinks or dinner. I avoid coffee dates because they never feel romantic at all.

I went home with 4. One of which I'm currently dating still. There's also 2 I'm currently dating that could turn into sexy time.

I would mostly insist on bar dates because I need a bit of alcohol to drop my walls. One of the guys showed me a really cool bar and ever since then I took all of my Tinder dates there. They all seemed to like it. I even showed it to my friends - it's "our" bar now.

One guy offered to go to the zoo - that was nice. There were a few coffee shop dates, but I'm not really into coffee, so I asked to go somewhere else as soon as we finished the coffee. One guy said he bought me a ticket to a comic-con type convention. That was a weird experience, mostly because the convention was so, so disappointing... I bought him a poster, though, so there's that.

There was one guy whom I went to like three venues with, we got really drunk because we insisted on buying each other drinks, lol.

There was one guy who bought me dinner and coincidentally he was the horny one who tried to make me go to his place and wanted to make out. I told him I'm not going to his multiple times, but he would not relent. That's when I knew I wasn't going to see him again.

First time: it was okay, we went to a local coffee shop, he was a close friend, we went to his house but just to hang out without touching, we dated for three months but he was not attracted to me. Second time (different year): it was lovely, we went to a world heritage site bear his house, he was a close friend, I was living at his parents' house anyway (covid) but we weren't having sex or anything yet, we got married.

What’s the most amount of 1st dates you’ve gone on in 1 year?

About 50, in 2019 It was my first time dating and using online dating in a new city.

Did you have a good time?

Amazing time! As an introvert with no friends in a new city i moved to, this dating supplied me with all the social life i needed and introduced me to the city. I learned a lot about myself, about women, about dating. Completely changed my view of myself and was in general a key experience for that phase of my life. As a side effect, i also found my group of friends by sliding into an open relationship where they were both fans of me and connected me with their large social circle of amazing people.

Where did you take them?

Bars, parks, walks, clubs, museums, cafés, and about a third directly to my apartment. /edit: oh, and i didn't "take" them. I never paid for a date's expenses. Usually it's turn taking for drinks or some other form of sharing the total expenses by alternating payments, or straight up splitting. The most "taking them" aspect comes when i invite them over to my place and cook for them or buy the wine/crémant. But then again, i also received a lot of gifts on followup dates. I don't feel like i have spent more than i received.

Where did you find most of them?

100% online dating.

How many did you go home with?

About 40%. I don't see a reason to not have sex on the first date if there is mutual attraction. I mostly didn't look for only ONS, but was open for a relationship. I was open for any kind of connection. Worst enemy to mother of my children. I explored lots of women who were not my cup of tea, just to have the experience.

Did you get a LTR?

After 1.5 years of going on dates from online dating, yes. We did meet for a park picnic, but just expected a cute connection and some sex at the end of it. Fell in love quickly. Going to marry that woman.
