4 yrs trying to get a date...half a year after we split...still nothing

I talked to one lady after we split up but it just didn't feel right to date someone while I was still technically married so I passed. I wanted to date one lady after things were final but she's going through her own incredibly messy divorce so she passed. I installed one of the apps and played around a little bit but nothing has coke from it. I'm not super attractive and I purposely downplay my job so I don't attract gold diggers.

As soon as I moved out from living with the now-exwife, I installed the dating apps (all of them) and started dating. We had a dead bedroom and I just wanted to feel that connection again.

I met some nice girls, some duds and some absolute crazies.

A year after, maybe year and a half.

But I was the one who initiated the divorce, so I needed time to become interested in women again.

I imagine if you are the one being left and the ex is behaving badly (so you can get disenchanted quicker), it can be faster.

I don't think you'll find the "right" answer. Morally, I'd wait until after divorce, but each situation is different. I've only been divorced since April, no dates, but I've gone out a few times with friends and each time reaffirms why I'd rather be alone.

I started dating around two years after my D-day; I think you will find they will be all over the place on this, as everyone is different. Some will return to the dating scene, and others will never date again. It's very similar to the people. Everyone is different, so you'll likely find it valid when dating.

I started about 2 months after she filed... The first few 'relationships' i got into were trash looking back at it, but in that min it made me feel good. It took about six months after it was done and after a lot of self-work, for me to date someone that I was truly happy with.

It all depends on how you feel.
I’ll forewarn you though… there are a lot of broken people in the world and the dating scene is crazy, while loaded with crazy.

Ultimately it’s going to depend on what feels right for you. I went on my first “post-divorce” date about a year after things were finalized. I felt really weird about it and didn’t go on another date for almost another year. I still don’t date much though. I have a lot to improve on before i’ll feel good enough to date seriously. I have a friend though who got divorced around the same time as me and he was in a relationship within 6 months of moving out. So it’s really entirely up to what feels right to you.

I started right away. I wouldn't say it was a mistake because for me I feel like it was a necessary step to get to where I'm at today. Did it go smooth? Hell no. But now I'm in a better place and I actually have two girls in rotation as a FWB. I would have two more but currently my finances do not allow it.

I've been seperated 8 month waiting on divorce to finalise which should be sometime in December still not started dating just enjoying my own space and company but I can see how that could cause a issue where I get so used to been on my own that anyone coming into my space I could just find annoying or disruptive to my routine.
