I find that Gen Z is probably the most averse to age gaps out of any cohort. At least in the U.S. There may be a cultural disconnect here.

Do we have any stats on *increased^ rates of age gap relationships specifically between younger women and older men?

There’s always been a certain group of young women dating older men. Some do it because they genuinely find them attractive, some think these men are more likely to marry and start family soon, some are after their money. I don’t think that overall ratio of these women have increased in recent years though.

From personal experience, most women I know have been dating very close to their own age. My husband and I are of the same age as well.

I’m genuinely curious what the stats are. I feel like on average there is more social pressure to date your own age today than ever. But also the material gains from age gap relationships and the accessibility to them have probably also never been greater. I’m sure there’s a split but probably more on average less age gap relationships. That’s out of my ass tho

I do not really see 'age gap' relationships with women in their 20s, though I see quite a lot of them when women are like 32-35 and guy is 40-45. And it's way more often than it was 20 years ago.

Whenever i see claims like this, it makes me laugh because the source is always "what ive seen on the internet" aka people they've never even met.

Or just as ridiculous "I've met people who match [whatever the claim is]" as if our individual pools of known people could even begin to represent the 8 billion people on the planet. Who here has met and gotten to personally know at the very least 100 individual women? I dont even know 50 people, men and women, personally in general 😂

But it just goes to show how unevolved our brains are for the the digital age. We can post a claim, get 10,000 likes, and our primitive brains think that means something despite 10k being a drop in the bucket of total number of people in the world.

This is why the internet is dangerous. With 8 billion people on the planet, you'll always find a large enough group of people that agree with whatever the claim is that it tricks our brain into thinking "we know".

You’re probably right. Personally, as a man I prefer younger women. Who are outgoing, independent but still feminine in other aspects. I’ve never really focused on power dynamics, but yes, I agree That normal beneficial masculinity is under attack and that will lead to a lot of problems both in terms of relationships as well as The mental health of men and women alike. A lot of more masculine men feel disempowered and repressed whilst many women likely feel they have something wrong with them for being attracted to masculine traits in men.

Seems like this young women dating older men is a big trend. It’s more about lifestyle and I’m trying it because my friend is. I’m not sure it’s that much about masculinity.
