Sorry to tell you but this isn’t how seduction works and you are in the friendzone.

If you said “I am someone like me” you would be basically being needy and losing your frame, not that you had a good one anyway, but it just reinforces the frame that you are hoping for a chance to be picked by the girl, rather than being in a position of power where you are the one picking girls because they earned someone like you.

When a woman tells you that “she would date someone like you”, that usually communicates that she sees you as just a friend, a friend with all the good traits she aspires to have from a boyfriend, but only a friend.

She won’t date you because the boyfriend has to be a guy that she is also attracted to. Hence why she would date a guy like you, but not you. Because while you may have what she wants form a boyfriend, she is not attracted to you like that.

This isn’t something that can be solved with a phrase even if it’s witty. Attraction is either there or it’s not. She is not really interested in you as more than a friend, and you coming back saying “hey hey please date me, please give me a chance” is simply gonna be met with, “no silly we are just friends”.

Don’t be friends with women that you like.

Give her an amused suggestive look. "I'd date someone like you. We should find two people just like us and set them up." You want to assume the best and that she said that because she is interested and wants to know if you are interested. So by saying you would date her that shows intent and you are interested. But this could be too needy or mess things up if she isn't interested. Hence the playful misinterpretation that downgrades the interest in a funny way.

Saying something like, "I'd date me too" may be too cocky, make her look needy, and cause her to take back her statement in some way. But with the right vibe you could pull it off. Maybe add something like "Except for all the Mexican food I eat. There is something about you that intrigues me."

An answer would have been needed seconds after that comment. A day later is weird, BUT come back saying Hey I found that guy you're willing to date and point to yourself.

Chances are that you're in the friendzone and nothing is getting you out. So it doesn't really matter what you say.

But given the circumstances, I'd probably say something like 'But someone like me wouldn't date someone like you'. Then, when pressed for the reason why, say something trivial to the effect of 'I just prefer brunettes, it's a personal preference' or whatever.

Probably still wouldn't work, but what do you have to lose. Best case scenario it sparks interest, worst case scenario she is mildly upset with you for a day or so.

Lots of cocky answers, but if you like this girl, I’d suggest a simple genuine reply of “I would date someone like you too.” Of course, ymmv.

Instant tension, instant lowered guard, instant vulnerability, and doesn’t rely on you not coming off as unserious or arrogant. If so inclined, you can follow up with something defusing, like “It’s a shame we’re settling for anyone else.”

I personally find that to be a very insensitive and cruel thing to tell someone. You can and should tell friends that they have qualities you like or admire. But saying it like that is just being an asshole.

I would advise not to focus so much on details, but on making progress. It's not like clever response will take you further, but response that takes things further. "Ok, we can maybe do something about it". And proceed with the interaction to make something going. Anyways, it's probably still not too late, you can contact them and ask to spend some time together casually.
