She may be a decent person. Odds are, though, that either she's putting on a mask for you or she's not that connected to you and doesn't want to feel indebted in case she lets you go.

I helped my ex wife land her dream job which suddenly she was making almost 3 times more than me. She became EXTREMELY selfish with money. Particularly her money. To the point she created a secret account and later wanted to have separate accounts. She started to demand I pay half of everything and would “treat me” for dinner or something sometimes LOL She became a VERY toxic and proud woman. everyone around her noticed the change and stated to distance themselves because she started to act better than them too. This change 100% contributed to our demise.

Fast forward to today and I have the mos kind and selfless girlfriend who is in love with me and can’t wait to build a life together. She even makes more than me and still treats me like a king. A reciprocate of course. She treats my kids with dignity and respect and as if they were hers. We go on vacations together and there’s no temper tantrums and negative talk about money. She even gets along with the mother of my kids which is NOT the ex wife I just mentioned. No kids with her. I couldn’t be happier and I am living my best life. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Just view everything she does and says objectively you’ve been through enough BS. Take it slow. Sometimes we create a false view of a person who’s not really it. Then you get hurt.

Did she need money? If not it was silly to “have it prepared” - shes not a child and should be capable of arranging someone else to fix her car. If she did need money then she’s acting like a grown up taking responsibility and that’s possibly a good sign. It also may be a sign that she doesn’t want you to feel like she owes you something but the relationship seems to have progressed in a way that this is unlikely.
