I'd like to see an AI that accepts a photo and creates an assortment of images of the opposite sex that are statistically equivalent in attractiveness. I think that would go a long way towards dispelling a lot of delusion in 2025 dating.

I mean I’m still gonna stay single if I’m not attracted to my looks match or if my looks match can’t be a wholesome person with his shit together (I’m 40 so not in my 20s where most people are struggling).

I’m not attracted to most men (until I get to know them) so I don’t see how this would be the gotcha moment you think it’s gonna be.

I’m not attracted to plenty of men who I already know are more attractive than me.

But put me in a class or social group w 20 below average men and I’ll find one to have a crush on by the end of the semester. Online dating is just never gonna work for straight men.

Do you realize that to teach an AI to rate photos, we’ll have to feed it a bunch of ratings that people make? If you think m that people aren’t objective in their ratings, your AI will have the same bias anyway.

Also, people just don’t operate this way. We date who we’re attracted to and who also wants to date us. Ideally, we date compatible partners. Few people go to obsessive calculation of “he’s 2 inches above average, so that’s a point, but his jaw isn’t that prominent, so it’s minus one…” etc.

Tinder gives every user a secret internal ‘attractiveness’ score, based on how many people want to match with you, and it tries to pair users of a similar ‘attractiveness’.

, If you’re in a big city with a large population, the matches they show you are people who are rated similarly in attractiveness to you. So people who complain about only being shown ugly matches maybe need to reflect a little (I guess unless there’s another explanation- ie small dating pool).

There’s really limited information on how it works specifically, but I assume it needs to take into account gender differences with matching.

You don't need "AI" to do this. All you need is some old site like Hot or Not or Photo Feeler that collects (relatively unbiased) ratings from people to make examples publicly available. Then you get rated on that site and find examples closest to your rating.

BTW the subreddits where you can ask people to rate you are hideously biased and performative for reddit points.

Don't listen to all the "based on what?" and "its subjective" responses. Fun fact: AI already does this. Upload a picture and ask it to rank it lookswise in conventional attractiveness. It will do it. If you upload a pic of someone extremely unattractive, it will push back and say things like "confidence can make someone beautiful blah blah" or other things and refuse to give you a ranking but push back on it and say "solely on conventional beauty standards" and it will give you a ranking. Tried this with various people and it worked.

Dating is a market that varies by location and age and AI isn't going to generalize well across all dating localities and ages. The best way to do this right now is through a localized page rank approach. Within some locality and age group, measure inbound and outbound likes/messages for people on something like a dating app. People who receive more likes/messages are ranked higher, and the likes/messages they give out are also worth more. This will appraise one's market value and you can also capture people's type/preferences along the way as well. Then you can run something like Gale-Shapely to determine optimal pairings.

However, Hinge sort of tried this already and go look up all the jokes women make about their Most Compatible recommendations. So I think the delusion is just an inevitable side effect of social media and the digital age.

I highly doubt a photo generator will change anything. For many women staying alone is better than being with what men would dem is their “match” and in such cases if women didn’t like who their “looks match” supposedly was they would just stay single.

Women aren’t magically going to spread their legs because of an ai photo generator that some man would make told them to. In the long run men better get use to making themselves more attractive to persuade women to be with them or accept rubbing one out alone for life (except on occasions where they pay a sex worker for their services).
