I think men do care about that a lot. The thing is facially a man cant do much outside of making sure his face is clean. Men cant put on makeup like women can to enhance their looks. I mean of course they can try but most women will definitely not find them attractive. Especially on certain type of men.

As for their body they can work to improve that as well but that takes time and discipline, to get their body into shape. So these are concerns but one is impossible unless they are already attractive and the other takes quite a bit of work.

Because looks don't matter as much for men, it's biology humans figured out many millennia ago. I don't care what terminally online black or pinkpillers who watch tiktok 24/7 say. It's clear the men with social skills, status and uninhibition win out every time. If everyone in any one pool is socially r*tarded and a sperg with bad posture afraid of his own shadow then ofc the insta model guy is going to come out on top, that's irrelevant.

That being said, there are definitely tons of men out there completely delusional about their physical attractiveness. A bunch of skinny-fats or potatoes calling themselves solid 7s.

In fact, men are already obsessed with this

And quite a few (especially the romantically unsuccessful) are also obsessed with the gym, face, hair transplants, plastic surgery, etc.

These are all fairly topical topics and it was necessary to skip a lot so as not to notice it,for example that the same incel culture is literally based on appearance.

So yes, men are trying, it's just that the efforts of many do not always help. And not everyone is lucky enough to find it easy to fix something in their appearance

Most men I know put a lot of effort into their appearance between haircuts, time in the gym, clothing, cologne ect. I've heard plenty of men complain about lack of abs, or struggling to gain/lose weight. Or that their biceps/calf/insert muscle is too small. Along with the other things they cant change like penis size or height, color of skin ect.

In general, it takes a long time for the gym to pay off, and they can easily sabotage that with an occasional bad diet.

The other stuff only makes much of an improvement if you started off dressing really poorly.

I'm sure there are some men out there who put no effort, look slobby/lack awareness of their appearance, but there a small minority of men, I think.

Because what makes a man attractive is mainly immutable characteristics like facial structure, HEIGHT, hair and stuff.

Dressing better can only get you so far, that most of the time it doesn’t worth the effort.

Because men can't change their appearance that much as compared to women. There's a lot of things men are just born with and it will never change. Women can change basically anything about themselves.

Men do obsess to some degree. Especially in Western nations where status and $ tends to be on parallel with women.

But to a smaller degree. For a very simple reason.

Males: select primarily on physical appearance.

Females: Select on a combination of looks, money and status.

It simply makes more sense for women to obsess more over their looks. Their entire sexual worth is tied into their looks. Not necessarily the case for a man. It is only a component for us.

Men have, in a relative scale, less social neuroticism than women. Something-something hormones, something-something better suited to being sensitive to the needs of children.

On the plus side, this means we don’t tend to be as sensitive to how other people perceive us! On the down side… we aren’t always as aware that we can change our looks to affect how people perceive us.

Excuse me? Last time I checked it wasn't women who invented looksmaxxing. Women might like to complain more about their body, but that hardly ever translate to doing anything to be attractive, because they know men will still simp for them. The one exception being, of course, lesbians, because they know that isn't really a suitable option.

It is becoming a lot more common. I personally have become a bit obsessive about it recently. So now men are starting to experience the same patriarchal body standards that women have while also still being expected to provide all the things that a man does. Talk about a tough break!
