I’ve been through similar experiences although in a homosexual relationship instead, and the amount of shit couples with an age gap get from “friends”, colleagues and even strangers who feel entitled to butt into other people’s lives is not talked about enough. Unsurprisingly, I’ve experienced that women seem to be most judgmental of this. I do say however that I do defend my older partner with tooth and nail and when I hear someone saying shit about him they’ll hear it back a thousand times worse. There’s obviously a difference of people who ask questions about it in good faith or curiosity, and the ones who are just judgmental pricks, so to answer your question, the way I remain calm is by cutting the assholes out of my life.

And there was a show recently called MILF Manor on TLC where you had late middle aged women put on a blind fold and they felt up their son’s best friends to see if they could identify him by how he felt - you want to talk about grooming. There is always going to be an age gap, unless man and woman were both born at the exact same time.

Nevermind the fact the lady is legally an adult. 🤷

Its true tho that many older women voice their objection, and I always suspected it's out of jealousy or them viewing the younger lady as competition in the dating market. Perhaps they don't like what the younger lady represents, as she found a successful relationship with a man.

And sorry to say but biologically, if men want children, it makes sense that younger women are in a better position to conceive - as women's eggs are limited and finite. While men produce sperm every few seconds for life.

Young woman here, I’ve never minded age-gap relationships unless there are EVIDENT signs of toxicity. However, I’ve noticed something extremely curious regarding older women crying and complaining about older men dating younger women.

The thing is…older women DO NOT want older men. Not only have I seen older women crying “loneliness” on social media, but then humiliating the men THEIR AGE who show interest in them. But I have also seen this happen to women in my own family.

One day, they cry “loneliness” and “invisibility”. Then the other day, they humiliate men interested in them ‘cause they don’t resemble David Gandy. It’s always men with beer-bellies, receding hairlines or directly bald, grey hairs, below 6’0, and wrinkles in all the wrong places.

Just take a look at age-gap romance novels and pay attention to how the MMC is described. No where near the average older man.

So, to all the men out there…NEVER let an older woman convince you that you’re a creep for dating an ADULT who’s simply younger than you. ‘Cause trust me…those same women don’t want men their age either.

While I've never had to deal with that specific issue, I've no lack of experience in handling that general kind of nonsense. The best way I've found to deal with it is to have fun with it, pointing out the absurdity of their objection- and given the "logic" behind it, it has to be their unspoken objection, since once you wind them up, they'll keep going.

So when they ask if she's your daughter, reply with "No, she's my mother". Or "my father", if you're feeling bold. "My parole officer" is another good one, if you're holding hands at the time. Or, if you're looking away when asked, act surprised, say "it's just my dog", and pretend to be shocked that she's turned into a woman.

You get the idea. It won't make the problem stop, but it'll put a damper on it- and you'll have more fun, too.

I did yes when dating my ex (15yr age difference) , we handled their rude attitude and questioning with humour and honesty. I found if showed a little humour and understanding of where they’re coming from (without delving into your relationship details, that’s not their business) they usually walk away and we carry on. We kept our relationship private from social media and being out together in public (we didn’t do a lot of PDA to avoid rude people) .

Yeah i have a 14 year age gap, we've gotten looks (usually ignore) and funny comments and laugh about those. But others have tried to step in to save her or just non stop stared with crazy eyes. It's a little sad that my wife is harassed by her choice. I'm a little afraid of carrying my child in the playgrounds because I've already had the cops called on me by insane women. I was shopping at Walmart and I guess I got too close to her child in the cart a couple times in random aisles.

I think it's reasonable for people to assume she's your daughter and you can't exactly blame anyone for assuming she's your daughter considering you have the typical age gap people have with their children.

This isn't just a 'woman's thing', the vast majority of individuals would assume she is your daughter and many would make the assumptions you have shared in this post about your relationship.
