We're having a pretty wide social controversy in Québec, right now because those kinds of speech were uttered, unopposed & even encouraged on Radio-Canada(SociétéRadio-Canada)... by an honored guest & author. For anyone interested that understands french too. It's ripping through our Left, too, though not enough...

Feminists: "No but you see, actually feminism is for everyone!"

Also feminists: "Part of the population suffering deeply and being in a state of mental health crisis is actually a good thing!"

[–]The-Author 95 points96 points97 points 5 months ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Feminists (and by extension a lot of Leftists) don't seem to realise they they are honestly their own worst enemy a lot of the time. Probably because they're unable to conceive of their side being able to do anything wrong.

[–]InnerSwineHoundleft-wing male advocate 60 points61 points62 points 5 months ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The left has an ego problem just as much as the right

[–]im-so-lovelyz 23 points24 points25 points 5 months ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Extreme levels of self-righteousness, black-or-white thinking, and using “morals/degree of performative activism” as an indicator for determining/classifying people based on their ”intrinsic worth” are peak manifestations of a narcissistic personality structure imo

[–]SuperMario69Kraftleft-wing male advocate 3 points4 points5 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That honestly sounds more like the Left than the Right. The Right has about equal but totally different corruption.

[–]im-so-lovelyz 2 points3 points4 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I fully agree, my comment was just referring to that!

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I. I somewhat agree that these things can occur on the left

Wdym by intrinsic worth? I’m not sure what you are getting at?

[–]im-so-lovelyz 7 points8 points9 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

your worth as a person in this society depends on how morally righteous you are + how hard you fight against social injustices

[–]Interesting_Doubt_17 12 points13 points14 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More like "how hard you virtue signal about fighting against social justice."

Probably because they're unable to conceive of their side being able to do anything wrong.

The (Canadian) thing that finally made me take a side eye to the left was Elbowgate. The Canadian House of Commons was holding a vote to pass a bill allowing assisted-dying, or MAID as it is known in Canada. It was a vote on a literally life-and-death issue for Canadians, there were some people literally dying to wait for this bill to pass, and the NDP was clowning around in the House of Commons, physically blocking Members of Parliament from getting in line to cast their vote on the bill.

Infuriated, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau - the leader of the country recently duly-elected by the majority of Canadians - got up, pushed some of these NDP members out of the way, and escorted one member to the voting box to try to speed up getting the bill passed, accidentally elbowing one opposition Member in the breast. The NDP made it look like it was an intentional sexual assault, and demanded that Trudeau apologize. TWICE.

I lost all respect for the Canadian left political party, the NDP, after that. There are narcissists on the left just as much as on the right. They literally cannot conceive of themselves ever doing anything wrong.

Suddenly they’re big fans of “natural selection”, when it was about ending gender roles and expectations years ago.

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 19 points20 points21 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yea I have seen alot of “the loneliness crisis is natural selection” arguments, I will admit that it’s bad

[–]Ok-Studio-4493 8 points9 points10 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've literally seen a top liked comment end by unironically saying, "Man up." on an otherwise progressive, leftist influencer's video. Every group in the world is just a parody of themselves nowadays.

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 2 points3 points4 points 5 months ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s because the world is becoming less and less rational

[–]SuperMario69Kraftleft-wing male advocate 4 points5 points6 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ask them, then when could it be acceptable for women to suffer from natural selection?

[–]Ravenblade727 126 points127 points128 points 5 months ago (15 children) | Copy Link

While people make some good points in here about her comments being off the mark, what really bothers me about such statements is the glee with which they're said. She doesnt give a fuck about her imaginary implications for women, she's just happy that men are suffering.

People like this would be right wingers if not for feminism being positioned on the left. I really do believe that.

[–]AGoodFaceForRadio 68 points69 points70 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists love to shout that “feminism is equality.” Some of them, I think, mean it: they feel (rightly or wrongly) that women have suffered greatly, and they genuinely wish for men to suffer equally.

[–]Motanul_Negru 45 points46 points47 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They are right wingers, I say. Feminism being considered left is simply a widespread mistake, hardly the first of our species.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The way I see it is that they're only leftist insofar as it benefits them.

[–]SuperMario69Kraftleft-wing male advocate 6 points7 points8 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Left and Right are cultural constructs. There's no universal logic that designates an ideology as being in one wing or the other; just political culture, determined by things like economics and geography. Furthermore, Left and Right mean different things in different times and places.

[–]CathanCrowell 28 points29 points30 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, realization how can be leftist people actually mean and hypocritical was incredibly painful. They can be same hateful, just with different targets.

[–]AriochBloodbane 19 points20 points21 points 5 months ago (9 children) | Copy Link

People like this would be right wingers if not for feminism being positioned on the left. I really do believe that.

How is feminism considered "left wing" when 90% of what they do and say is very much right wing, that's the second biggest con of the century 🤷‍♂️

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Explain how it is right wing?

[–]AriochBloodbane 22 points23 points24 points 5 months ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Old school feminism in the early 20th century was definitely "left wing" fighting discrimination to help the oppressed.

Then somewhere around the second half of the century it shifted to a "right wing" gender supremacy position that parallels the white supremacy one. Same language, same strategies, same demonization of the adversary...

You can literally take most modern feminist messages, change "woman" with "white" and "male" with "jew" or "black" and there you have full on KKK or Nazi propaganda...

[–]Future-Still-6463left-wing male advocate 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pure Fascism. Guilty by association logic is how they operate.

[–]UpbeatBug3464 -1 points0 points1 point 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

and wny are men lonely? why is it called an epidemic? you think women arent lonely , only the men?

[–]Future-Still-6463left-wing male advocate 4 points5 points6 points 4 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because men end their lives at big rates, they have very few support systems, and feminists endlessly mock and cheer for their deaths

[–]UpbeatBug3464 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 months ago (3 children) | Copy Link

lol what have I stumbled upon. is this supposed to be a left wing page? if you don't know what intersectional feminism is, wtf are you talking about? white supremacy is what it is against. maybe its white women girl boss feminism you don't like. or are you upset when anyone talked about white supremacy, too. even though you said it was feminism. what do you think is up with men murdering women and kids at such high rates that it is. the number one way for women of certain ages to die. do you care about the problem of violence against women? you can't pretend it isn't real.

[–]Ravenblade727 9 points10 points11 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The point is that the rhetoric employed by many feminists would not look out of place in any far right commentary on various groups they hate, if you swapped "men" for "any other group".

I do think you likely understand this, I'm guessing this was just a defensive reflex. Compassion and behaviour has to be applied consistently for any movement that claims to safeguard equality. I dont think anyone here is taking issue with much of what feminism stands for in terms of its position on women more the inconsistency in application of its principles with respect of men. Hateful bigots are a right wing thing and yet we tolerate them within the feminist movement. I do not see that as left wing.

I dont know what the point about violence has to do with this discussion other than you've blundered in here and have had a defense response. No one here would argue women dont need to be safeguarded from violence - but that isnt the point of this discussion. We also all know what intersectional feminism is.

Hope this helps.

[–]AriochBloodbane 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thank you for expressing the point in a much clearer way than I did. I kinda assumed it was obvious enough but looks like it wasn't.

[–]Ravenblade727 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your point was plenty clear man, this user was just spamming replies all over and I felt the need to intervene in at least one :P I do think it was more trigger reflex than genuine misunderstanding. Cold light of day, they don't reply like that.

[–]Jayken 48 points49 points50 points 5 months ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Was talking about the male loneliness problem with some coworkers. Most think it's just loser men sad about not getting laid. Reminded them about a former coworker that got cancer, then his wife left him, and we only found out he died because his son stopped going to school (we're bus drivers). Asked jow lonely he must've felt. They got pretty silent and moved on.

No one wants to talk about it because society needs men to keep working. But neither the right or left actually care about their wellbeing.

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points32 points 5 months ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I’d also like to pose the question: why is it wrong for so-called “loser men” to be “sad” about “not getting laid?” I think it’s normal and human to desire romantic intimacy, most human beings are wired for it and I feel like men can’t talk about sadness over relationships/romance because they’ll just be slapped with the damning “incel” label.

[–]Ruh_Roh- 37 points38 points39 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because genetically "inferior" men are the final resting place of society hate and disgust. It's not allowed to hate women, LGTBQ+, minorities (which is a correct), but that leaves short and ugly men as the last group that it's ok to despise.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How pathetic do you have to be though to just wait to see who the acceptable target is and just let all the hate out? Digusting.

[–]Ruh_Roh- 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haters gotta hate. It's an unfair and maddening world and a lot of people want to take it out on someone.

[–]Dry_Fact_4584 18 points19 points20 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, do they realize that, lots of blue collar workers like bus drivers, construction workers, etc, and some others like passionate programmers, and people in high pressure work must be feeling that too?

Loneliness can happen to anyone, not because of having misogyny thoughts, or not unable to get sex. They even can have sex life and still feel that too... Even people in relationships too.

[–]Jip_Jaap_Stam 31 points32 points33 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Radical feminism isn't concerned with equality; it's about revenge.

[–]Maffioze 55 points56 points57 points 5 months ago (17 children) | Copy Link

These kinds of people are operating from defensiveness but they don't understand how much of a strategic failure they are being.

Not only is this untrue, but it also pits women and men against each other and it alienates and hurts men to the point more of them will become misogynistic because of rethoric like this. Which doesn't protect women, it harms them as well.

[–]Motanul_Negru 39 points40 points41 points 5 months ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Even with men it doesn't push into outright misogyny, it pushes them away from women. I've given up on any ideas I might've had at one time or another, of a romantic relationship, or activism in women's favour, or anything like that.

I don't want to see any women subjugated or constrained for such an unsound reason as their gender, but even less do I want to crawl on my belly for their approval (or the illusion that it's in the cards).

[–]Maffioze 7 points8 points9 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah that's very true. Although I don't feel that way when it comes to my personal relationships with women, when it comes to doing activism for women I don't really see it as my responsibility anymore to the extent I once saw it. And its because of how common things like this are.

[–]Future-Still-6463left-wing male advocate 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah me too.

I care about the ones in my family or friends.

But no activism. They can fight their own battles.

This conversation has been had many times here before. We're not going to stoop to their level just because that's what they've been doing to us. That would be a profoundly shitty thing to do, as tempting as it is to give them a tiny taste of how it feels whenever they do it to us.

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 28 points29 points30 points 5 months ago (7 children) | Copy Link

It’s because everyone is interconnected

I feel like people are very guarded about socialization and social media has made it worse

Social media has produced more barriers to deep friendships not less

[–]Maffioze 19 points20 points21 points 5 months ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it has allowed people to self select friends that are ideologically as similar to them as possible.

Which encourages polarisation. Its hard to dehumanize a group of people when you regularly talk to them.

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 11 points12 points13 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I’m not sure how much this is true but for my personal life it’s definitely true both in terms of politics and disability

[–]Maffioze 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How do you mean disability

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 5 points6 points7 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

OCD, autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar etc

Pretty much neurodiversity

It's crazy how people do not acknowledge how "agents of socialization" seem to work. It's a basic systemic analysis of what discussions act on which people in which ways.

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

May you explain what you meant?

[–]AdOtherwise3824 4 points5 points6 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

sure. So "agents of socialization" are "Agents of socialization are the people, groups, and institutions—primarily family, school, peers, and mass media—that teach individuals the norms, values, and behaviors necessary for functioning in society. These agents shape identity, attitudes, and social skills throughout life, starting from infancy. "

Your comment on how people are guarded around socialization and social media spurred my comment that people are shifty around socialization because it seems they don't want to apply the "agents of socialization" framework to describe problems.

I don't get why people think that male loneliness is about not having a woman to bang with.

Isn't it more about not having male friends?

[–]GorgonzolaJamleft-wing male advocate 66 points67 points68 points 5 months ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes it is about having male friends, but if they said that it would humanize men and humanizing your enemy is dangerous for morale.

Also feminists (1) always contextualize male problems by how it affects women and (2) believe that men being victims hurts women.

Bit of a tangent, but for example when you bring up male suicide being 3x the rate of women, a feminist will always respond that the rate of "attempts" are higher for women. The Canadian government's suicide page even felt the need to show stats for attempts so that people don't accidentally think men are victims of something that women aren't.

Frankly, I think the difference is that women know that society cares about them and will try to help them if they're so depressed they'll attempt suicide.

Men know that's not true so they finish the job.

If anybody is having dark thoughts, please seek what available professional help you have around but you can also message me if you want. I have experience surviving depression.

[–]Capable_Sky_2637 25 points26 points27 points 5 months ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Actually, it’s not true that women make more suicide attempts. This is a tired myth, long debunked. In western hospitals, any self-harm is flagged as a suicide attempt. Talk to any nurse. I earnestly believe this practice is to ensure the people suffering get the maximum amount of help and support they can possibly receive, but it does have the unfortunate effect of inflating the number of suicide attempts.

It also makes it completely unsurprising that women would appear to attempt suicide more than men, given women know on some level (whether consciously or instinctively) that society will bend over backwards to support them—hence the self harm as cries for help.

As a side note: it’s remarkable how tone-deaf people who trot out the lie that women “attempt more” are. Even if it were true: if women actually committed suicide at around four times the rate of men, it would be social and political suicide to mention that men “attempt more” as a way to divert funding/attention.

[–]AdOtherwise3824 10 points11 points12 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's also just a fundamental misunderstanding of statistics. All it takes is each woman that commits suicide to try again once, and BAM you now have 2x more attempts simply because of the change in lethality. None of the "attempt more" statistics actually parse what percent of those are repeats and what the recurrence rates are.

[–]GorgonzolaJamleft-wing male advocate 5 points6 points7 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Damn that's a good point. You can't suicide twice but you can have multiple attempts.

Give me a bad argument and I can rip it apart but I struggle with statistics.

[–]AdOtherwise3824 4 points5 points6 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The most obvious way to prove the point wrong or right would be to normalize by unique individuals attempting Then a further subset that attempt and succeed at some point.

[–]Karmaze 28 points29 points30 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I personally think it's a mental health crisis stemming from telling men who don't have much to give up socially to give up that unearned privilege.

That gender politics has created an intense social anxiety, especially in vulnerable men like the neurodivergent.

[–]Capable_Sky_2637 14 points15 points16 points 5 months ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

My thoughts have followed this line for a while, too, and I suspect the phenomenon of what men are expected to “give up” is broader than the material, i.e, men are being told to give up social capital, political capital, moral capital (insofar as they even possess any), et cetera.

Widespread social anxiety in men and boys becomes a stable, predictable, and resilient phenomenon then, and it is unsurprising to me that many of the attempts to fix (or profit from) this orbit around the same central principle (whether consciously or not): fostering a positive male identity.

Western society’s—and Feminism’s—relentless attack on masculinity, bolstered by women’s vastly superior moral power and capacity for moral licensing (which Feminism adopts by proxy, as feminism is assumed to “be” women) has designated for men ways to have a “positive” identity, but none are distinctly male. Of course, men also retain ways to have a “male” identity, but less and less are distinctly positive. This double bind becomes a squeeze, one which men are feeling more and more when all the routes to a positive male identity are being pruned out of existence, whether through workplace policy, policies at institutions of higher learning, politics, or social engineering.

How is it men as a whole are supposed to feel welcome and integrated into their society/community (read: how are men supposed to feel not lonely) when everywhere they turn they are getting doors slammed in their faces, or reminded on some level that they can have a positive identity, or a male identity, but not both?

Exactly, and it's reported to be worse with married men.

But the "male loneliness epidemic" that it's being pushed amd talked about it's not about men at all, it's about shaming men to accept the newly and incredible big population of lonely women.

[–]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest 1 point2 points3 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Huh? Is there proof it’s about lonely women?

[–]SlyPogona 9 points10 points11 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, but look btween the lines.

The "male loneliness epidemic" is talked about mostly in feminist positive media, the main focus is not about understanding men or trying to better their environment, is mostly about shaming men and accusing men of have "high standards".

Of course that loneliness for women is different from men, men have less friendships while women have a lot of that but have been struggling for a STEADY relationship, they can have a lot of orbiters but never a steady relationship, specially for women over 30. That's also talked about, obviously in a "shaming men" fashion (articles that talk about men not earning enough, about menkeeping and so on, where the bottom line is: men better for women). And guess what's the focus on media for male loneliness: romantic relationships, even when the data talks about male on male friendship being the one that's lacking.

Once more, the focus is not on the needs of men but of women and shaming men on burdening it

[–]angry_cabbie 30 points31 points32 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's about not having close friendships, which can include intimate relationships.

Like, I have a lot of people that are friendly when they see me, and I'm sure most of them consider me a friend of some type or another... But I stopped being the first to reach out years ago, before my wife died, and very few of these people have done more than be friendly to my physical face when I happen to be around.

At least, that's my understanding of the phenomenon.

And don't misunderstand me, I'm hyper fixating on a particular set of occurrences within my own life to use as an example to explain the totality of it. I do have a handful of close friends that I can open up to about damned near anything (although with a couple of them I do feel inclined to let the 'tism flow with being over explanatory). And I do have intimate relationships with a handful of them as well, physically and emotionally, even if rather sporadically.

[–]AGoodFaceForRadio 24 points25 points26 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is.

But feminists - shockingly - twisted the meaning in order to center women.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well they show what they think of men if you think that men only want one thing and dehumanised them as brutes you come to this conclusion.

[–]Veryactivecolon 26 points27 points28 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because everything needs to be around sex duh! In all seriousness i think the whole male loneliness is more about men wanting to feel desired for who they are and having someone who supports them.

Not like friends do, but more in a partner sense.

[–]MonochromaticPrism 3 points4 points5 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I missed this post, but to provide another aspect of this, the romantic relationship between a man and woman is held up by society as sort of the supreme/highest form of relationship. Your best friend, your closest confident, the one who is partnered with you through thick and thin. To individuals that are suffering from loneliness and struggle to make even 1 or 2 connections, making a single deep connection seems far more achievable than building the traditional network of social bonds (a network that has completely collapsed after we stopped seeking out other people for the entertainment of human-to-human interaction due to our other entertainment options becoming too effective).

This gets maliciously misinterpreted by bad actors to mean "men want women to bang" when what is actually happening under the surface, if viewed fairly, would be better described as "both sad and sweet".

[–]PassengerCultural421 14 points15 points16 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The male loneliness epidemic starts to get bad for them when it comes to their cakism. Since that means less men approaching women. So they start to come up with fake solutions for the MLE. By telling men they should just do "positive masculinity" aka traditional masculinity.

My point here is that the MLE is only considered an issue when it's affects female privilege.

[–]AbysmalDescent 23 points24 points25 points 5 months ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That is such a disgusting and sociopathic mindset. Imagine if men just went around saying "Domestic abuse and rape are okay because that just means more freedom for men!". Just awful stuff. I'm not sure if it's worse that these people are given these platform or that these beliefs are so normalized in the first place.

[+]ExternalGreen6826feminist guest -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 months ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men do say horrific stuff, we have to keep that in mind, sometimes when people say “men don’t do that or this” they are just talking about themselves or the men they “know” (atleast we hope) but there are men who say that stuff

[–]AbysmalDescent 14 points15 points16 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very few men would ever think this way, let alone dare to make these kinds of arguments openly unless they're purposefully trying to make some kind of edgy awful joke. They would get chewed up by both men and women.

[–]John-_-Stein 12 points13 points14 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, men do say horrible stuff like that. Rates of shitty women and shitty men saying and (partially) doing bad stuff id assume is about the same. However, the issue comes not from women saying "men dying is good acutally" - the issue is that this type of rethoric is publically and socially accepted.

[–]WesterosiAssassin 8 points9 points10 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But the rest of society, or at least a large portion of it, rightfully denounces it when a man says something disgusting like that about women, rather than accepting or even applauding it and dogpiling on anyone who pushes back. That's the main problem, not the individual people who say awful things.

[–]volatile-solution 57 points58 points59 points 5 months ago (5 children) | Copy Link

she is right, but not in the way we might wanna think.

men must overcome their out-group bias - this is most important.

a good chunk of men are so high on kool aid of women being "empathetic", "social", "kind" gender, and we men need to be deserving and earn their love and companionship and reciprocity is not need at all.

now this sound like MGTOW/redpill propaganda, but what i really mean, we don't give agency and accountability and too much expectations on women for ensuring a much equal relationship. that relationship needs to be enforced, by both sides and that also involves men to decenter women and deprioritizing romantic relationships with women as some kind of a long-term life goal rather than some kind of side-quest.

men are much well off if they rather work on furthering their careers and bettering their lives for themselves only, and enforce and rewrite standards for getting into relationships, just like women did but forgot to stop asking for traditional expectations from men.

it is now time for men to push back to equibrillium.

there is no reason for men to be lonely only because they can't get into relationships. they must not.

[–]RavenEridan 22 points23 points24 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hate that some men put women on a pedestal, biggest idiots ever, from my experience women tend to be just as homophobic, just as racist, and just as abusive as men are, but some simps genuinely see all women as empathetic and kind and they hate other men and see them as pigs.

[–]Veryactivecolon 29 points30 points31 points 5 months ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Well said, a partner must be a positive addition to your life. Not a life's goal.

[–]LittleHanded 2 points3 points4 points 5 months ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I dunno about you but my strongest instinct in life is to have a partner and have a family. Biologically speaking, having a partner is literally the goal. I wish I had stronger instincts for something else but I don't, and I lost my partner and it has hurt so profoundly every day for so long now. Of course, I am making efforts to move on, but nothing has ever brought me more joy than her, and I've done a lot in my life. Sigh

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 5 months ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, this is also my thought, and I honestly don't know the answer... But, I'm really not sure that the whole "[decentering] women and deprioritizing romantic relationships with women" is possible/realistic for the (vast) majority of men.

[–]AdOtherwise3824 0 points1 point2 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I really only got there through three years basically entirely on my own with a therapist meeting once a week. And I still have all sorts of shit to really fully deal with before I finally go off my medication.

Ain't gonna happen unfortunately.

I think you're right, and I think a significant number of men are probably doing that now, it's just that they are a bit of a silent minority/silent group. They are just focusing on their careers, on improving themselves, and not worrying about certain womens' expectations are of men. As a minor example, a lot of men are not worrying about things like holding the door or giving up their seat on a bus or subway for women anymore.

[–]henrysmyagent 22 points23 points24 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have seen A LOT of videos about the "male loneliness epidemic." All by women.

Odd how this epidemic never gets talked about by the "victims."

Also, why are women so gleeful about it?

[–]OrcOfDoom 14 points15 points16 points 5 months ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a really bad faith take on the male loneliness epidemic. This is really bad. She should not be platformed. She is basically the same as that fresh & fit manosphere content.

so when women suffer it is not their fault and they are the victims but when men do it is their fault and should be mocked. so, if both suffer, the sufferings themselves (imaginary or not) can't be used for the evidence of a woman's (especially white, middle-upper class, able-bodied and neurotypical women; which are the most oppressed group of people) special status of "victim", so there has to be another reason. maybe it is abt the belief that women are grown children and dumb as hell (but woke way so it's ok or sum shi). maybe it would be much better to deny that men even experience any suffering so she wouldn't shoot herself in the foot. but who cares if you polish (in a woke way) something enough it becomes more true (in a woke way) for some "people".

"Why are young men and boys being radicalized and falling into the alt-right pipeline?!" Gee, I wonder why?

As I said many times over the years, feminists aren't happy until men are unhappy.

Part of this is just a stupid and dishonest game. Whoever appears to need the other less has all the negotiating power.

Most women do not want to be alone for their entire lives, but by saying they're perfectly okay with it, then tadaa, you now have to appeal to them in order to get attention, aka their attention is now a commodity you have to purchase while your attention is worth nothing. You ever hear a girl say "I am the table?" Its a reflection of this mindset. You have to essentially put in excess value, she doesn't have to put in any effort, warmth, or money at all, because you are the one indebted to her for her presence.

This dynamic played out in Japan when they were dealing with a harsh feminist movement.

Then, men split into two groups.

The ones who lay flat, aka gave up and stopped trying to get women, get married, get a high paying job, and just focused on themselves, and those who were successful and had so much bargaining power that no amount of feminism could pressure him into a relationship dynamic that put his needs second because he could choose anything they wanted. The "middle" group of men that most women were able to pursue and marry effectively vanished, leaving them with nothing.

Suddenly, the supply/demand market for serious relationships flipped. Men were opting out. 30% of men wanted to get married and 60% of women wanted it, essentially meaning that feminism created an environment where WOMEN had no bargaining power by making relationships not worth it for the majority of men. I would say we've been teetering on the edge of something like this happening in the west.

This is a result of male and female interests being pitted against each other by feminism. This shit ends when men stop playing the game.

Frankly, you're better off single though than to be with a girl who needs to have negotiating power over you instead of treating the relationship equally akin to a group project.. If you're in a bad relationship it adds negative value to your life, and if women increasingly decide to embrace ideas that makes them bad partners then you have no reason to engage with it. It doesn't benefit you at all. It'll just black-pill and jade you in the event you do stumble on the right one.
