No, as I do not jump into commitment lightly. Im all in or Im out. I just dont do, well they are ok for now. I just cant. What a waste of time for both of us, Id rather be alone.

Im not hardcore for marriage, if anything Im a marriage phobe but, not Im a committed phobe.

Not intentionally, but I have been in two relationships where around the 10 month mark I knew it wasn’t going anywhere. I don’t recommend it, if you know early on that you’re incompatible my advice is to end it. I knew I wasn’t going to marry these dudes, so I didn’t want to waste any more of their time or mine.

Yeah this happened to me. We met in college while I was homeless. Dated for three years. We both graduated, talked about marriage and kids some; she didn’t want them and I wasn’t ready to decide. We stayed together for a while beyond figuring that out because we were still in love with each other, but eventually I needed to focus on my career because providing a family is a priority for me.

It was pretty messy, I think moreso because it was just life circumstances that did it rather than either of us not loving each other anymore. It’s been about six months. Starting to be okay again.

All my “lovers” relationships ended absolutely at six months, or whenever earlier anyone wanted.

It’s not hidden, it’s discussed before the relationship starts.

Not intentionally, but eventually they turned sour and the relationship ended. That’s just how dating works, the bottles of honey and agave aren’t labeled at the store. You keep getting the agave hoping it’s honey until you actually do finally pick out honey.

Yes. With my second LTR. He was my college bf, but after being a year or so together he dropped out. I was very adamant that he should have a degree so after a year or more he signed up for community college. This was okay... At least I could say he was trying, but after a few months he dropped out of that too. I stayed with him, and hopped he would finish his degree until I graduated. After that I straight up told him, "maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but the end to our relationship is coming soon". He churned it over for a couple days and then officially broke it off with me. At that point my light switch had already flipped though and I didn't really care.

When you get into a committed relationship, you should want it to last as long as it can, otherwise what’s the point? Be single or have an agreement.

Yes, my last two relationships. I knew going into them that marriage wasn't an option due to outside circumstances. We decided to just enjoy each other's company while we could. One was year and change, and the other lasted 3 years.

They weren't specifically timed, but we both knew it would end at some point, and the experience made think it'd actually be a great arrangement for some folks in some situations. With one of them I still have a strong friendship that's all the stronger for the time we spent together. I would still ideally like to get married some day.

Yes, but unbeknownst to me. When we started dating he already had plans to move within the next year and had been applying for jobs out of state. I didn't find out until he broke up with me after he got a job and was getting ready to move. We weren't on the same page about the seriousness of the relationship.

I don't think I could ever be in a relationship that I knew wasn't going to last. It would just seem pointless and make me sad.

Yes. I got involved with and feel hard for a girl about 10 months before I knew I was going to leave my hometown for a couple of years. I couldn't help myself so I had to go for it. I didn't manage to convince her to make it a LDR. It hurt like hell. I have never returned to that place and probably never will. The end.

Not really been in an official relationship but looking back I'm glad they all ended when they did but I always wish that it was earlier when something in my gut felt off about the whole thing. I always wish I would have broken things off when I felt that feeling instead of waiting to see how things went and them breaking things off with me making me feel 100x worse.

Tl;dr: Don’t do this it will end very poorly.

I have only done this once and I was upfront about my expectations going in. Told her if she didn’t want to get too involved, no worries we could just be friends and I had no problem with helping her find a good dude to satisfy her other needs... worst idea I ever had because I broke that girls heart so very bad...

Before I knew it she was “in love” when I had given her absolutely no reason to be. I told her I didn’t want to label the relationship, but still treated her like an absolute queen. I blame myself even though I was honest... but to avoid this you need to listen to what the other person says, but make sure their actions line up.

Yes, you meet her, she's beautiful and treats you well, all your friends want her or admire her, you should be thrilled she's actually into you, but you don't have feelings for her. You still date her because she's a great catch on paper and you were done with being single. You hope those feelings will eventually come while the months go by and in the meantime it feels like there's an expiration date and you have to choose between settling for a woman you never really loved but do get along with and care about and who treats you better than most wives treat their husbands, or risking becoming that involuntary single middle aged man living in a house with too many empty rooms.
