One of the longest ongoing battles in our house has to do with nutrition. My wife doesn't work and by extension handles most of the meals and shopping. For over a decade we have all been overweight; including our kids.

From late August I've committed to changing and taking control of my life. It means a reinforced expectation that she provide proper meals to me, but all of us too. While there are some changes, the fact is that she doesn't know enough about nutrition and meal balance to make the necessary change. Furthermore she is unwilling to read books or take a class on the topic.

So last Tuesday I get home and find that she went shopping. The cupboard is loaded with bags of chips, Wheat thins (a contradiction to n terms), little Debbie snacks, etc. I calmly but firmly state that the stuff is crap and it can't stay in the house. I want it gone. She replies "I'll put it somewhere out of sight so that you are not tempted". After repeating that it is unacceptable for this to be in my house and feeding my kids, we end up at a stalemate.

10m later I'm heading out to the gym. I grab the food on my way out to dispose of it. SHE PHYSICALLY BLOCKS THE DOORWAY PREVENTING ME FROM LEAVING. I calmly turn around and depart through the back door and throw away the food outside.

After returning from my workout I hit the shower. She comes in stating that WE BOTH need to apologize. I hear her out and then calmly reply-

" This is my home and my life and I'll live it as I see fit. As long as you want a similar life experience we will work as a team. I'm making personal changes, and being the best example and parent to our kids. You wanted to take the lead on nutrition improvement but chose to do nothing, and I'm unwilling to continue poisoning them. ". Furthermore.." Should you choose to physically confront me in any way ever again it will be the last time you do it married to me. In any argument if I so much as bump into you it is grounds for me to go to jail and you know that; controlling me in that way is cowardly and intolerable."

She remained pissed and I calmly held my position. The food remained in the trash and it is clear to her that any more junk purchases will meet with the same fate. I'll give it a week longer to see if she initiates meal plans discussions with me, and if so we can negotiate occasional treats for the kids. Should she not, then I'll take 1/2 the grocery budget and lay out the meal plans for the family.

Oh, and by bedtime she was horny as hell.

Tl;dr- wife buys junk food, I throw it away unapologetically. Wild sex by the end of the evening.
