Pre-nup survives wife's challenge, female journalist reports it as "man stiffs wife out of alimony and wins right to throw her out" --> Are you telling us that a contract isn't a contract when a woman signs it?

In the end, the judge ordered that since my daughter’s child support was coming to an end (because she was turning 18 that month) that my permanent spousal support (alimony) payment be increased from $800 to $1000 per month for the rest of her life or until she remarries.

**DO NOT. FUCKING. GET. MARRIED. **

[–]drallcom3 6 points6 points6 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Isn't child support because of a child and not because of marriage?

[–]Senior Contributordr_warlock5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago [recovered] [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

No, the child support was terminated, and the judge added it to the alimony and prescribed that new amount for potential perpituity contingent on her marital status.

[–]Shiningknight121 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It won't stop child support, but not marrying will stop alimony.

[–]foldpak1110 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's my money because I'm a strong and independent man that is totally worth it. No one can tell me shit it's my money and I'll do whatever I want with it.

[–]Senior Contributordr_warlock160 points161 points162 points 11 years ago* (110 children) | Copy Link

Steve Clark (leader of petition) divorce rape account (Source)

I mentioned to my wife about filing our own documents and splitting our assets in half. However, my wife mentioned “What about alimony?” I responded, “With you making good money as a dental hygienist why do you feel you need alimony?” She replied “because I gave you 24 years of my life” And I didn’t give her 24 years of my life?

Entitlement at its finest. This is why women shouldn't vote. Having a roof over their head, clothes on their back, and food on the table is not considered enough. She expects more after her 'hard work' as a wife maid and nanny.

The judge was also presented with a printout from the California Employment Development Department showing that in the state of California the median income for a dental hygienist is approximately $100,000 per year. The judge dismissed this evidence as lacking foundation and ultimately said he could only accept this type of evidence from an expert witness.

In the end, the judge ordered that since my daughter’s child support was coming to an end (because she was turning 18 that month) that my permanent spousal support (alimony) payment be increased from $800 to $1000 per month for the rest of her life or until she remarries.

Why???

As you can see, Steve had proof from a state government website that his ex-wife didn't need alimony seeing she was making 100k/year at her current occupation. The judge made up the bullshit excuse about needing an 'expert witness' which would require more court time (money for lawyers) when all he had to do was seize her bank records which they seem so found of for 'dead beat' dads or you know... Check the site himself?

The titles, 'child support' and 'alimony', are a distinction without a difference. There isn't a requirement to prove that child support is being used to support the child (Source). It's the same thing as giving the ex-wife money (alimony) and saying she can use it for the child if she wants.

[–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt134 points135 points136 points 11 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Increasing the alimony when the child support ended is crystal clear evidence that child support is backdoor alimony.

[–]AkaviriDragon28 points29 points30 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Isn't it though? My mother wasted child support money on tabbaco, alcohol and gambling while I went underweight. When I asked her for things I needed she told me to go ask my father. My father whom she divorced. My father who was no longer living with us. He payed for everything I needed when he could. He literally had to pay for everything twice. Fuck child support.

[–]bitterRedpills4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Knowing all that about your mother and in the light of TRP, how do you feel about her now?

Do you chalk it up to AWALT or is there some animosity about her actions?

[–]cariboo_j5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What AkaviriDragon described is child neglect. I don't think the "That" in AWALT encompasses child neglect or child abuse.

[–]AkaviriDragon2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that cunt was crazy. Even if women are hardwired to adquire resources, women with empathy and understanding for the consequences of their actions won't breakup a family to adquire resources and control over a child. That being said, women initiate divorce more, get custody more and abuse children more...

[–]AkaviriDragon1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Surely not all women are narcissits, but a lot of parents misuse child support for themselves. Reviewing statistically how much child support is used/misused, and debating better ways to support the child is always a good idea. "In the light of trp".. trp actually helped me a lot in understanding her. I didn't understand her actions at first and thought she was just crazy, but then i found trp and it was very open to the ways in which women exploit and abuse others specially in the search for resources, which is something hardly any other sub dares do, and I started seeing patterns specially in the way she persecutes others then victimizes herself, playing the karpman drama triangle, eg: hitting you for no reason then threatening to call cops if you hit back in self defense. So I wouldn't consider her AWALT but TRP helped me understand woman's psychology and that eased my confusion and depression about the abuse I faced.

[–]foldpak1112 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow my story exactly. Is there anyway we can lawyer up and sue our cunt mothers?

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points45 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I don't get that part. Child support is meant for the kid, now all of a sudden he doesn't have to hand the child support check to her so the judge increases her alimony? That sounds like the child support was just a charade for a alimony stipend. Also lost in this is HER legal obligation to the child is also gone when the child turns 18, so wtf does she need more money for? Hopefully the father continues to be in his daughter's life without a legal obligation, but that has nothing to do with the wife which the judge seems to think so.

[–]Madkids2312 points13 points14 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Child support doesn't even have to go to the child. The mother or father (in next to no circumstances) is not required to provide any proof that the paid child support is going towards the child's well-being or benefit. At least in my state of the US it's not.

My LTR's mom has $70k in child support from the last 16 years of my LTR's childhood in a retirement fund for herself, and had no intention on using it on her daughter. Fucking skag.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

child support is meant for the kid

On paper, maybe. It doesn't work out like that in reality.

Child support is usually (always?) a ratio of the father's income (see: http://www.ncsl.org/research/human-services/guideline-models-by-state.aspx). To me, this is clear proof that it has very little to do with supporting the child and everything to do with giving the divorced female free resources. If I have a billion dollars, does that automatically mean my children should benefit from all the money I've earned? Fuck that - that's the choice of the parent, not the government, just as it would be if the parents had remained married. If I was a billionaire and had kids, I wouldn't want them to grow into little trust fund shits.

To some extent I can see the reason child support must exist, but for it to be sane it must also be capped. There's not a child alive that needs $10000 dollars a month to survive and even thrive.

EDIT: Another thing. If courts actually gave a shit about "child support" being used for children, they'd have SOME kind of measure to make sure that's what it's being spent on. As far as I know there is absolutely no method for a father to go to the court and say "uhh, your honor, she's clearly buying redbottom louboutins with my child support, can we get this lowered or maybe just give me custody?" As usual, the man is the one who gets fucked over by the law.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And in no way does she have to prove where the money goes. Where's the expert fucking"witness" on that?

[–]Grompher6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When she gets that check and she's buying me dinner and clothes, that's fucked up. I'm dating her.

[–]TRP VanguardtrpSenator0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's the current trend. Lawyers now try to push for as much child support as possible, while taking it easy on the alimony. The reason they even tell their clients is because failure to pay child support can be punished with jail time and even extradition.

[–]TRP VanguardJP_Whoregan146 points147 points148 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So the judge just inherently admitted that "child support" is really "mommy support". It has nothing to do with the kids, it's all about coddling the woman after divorce.

[–]sirmadam0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've always been a supporter of child support. The missing parent should always pay to help foster their childs growth. The issue being is if the missing parent is a woman the guy gets naff all. Men are expected to deal with it. Whereas women are expected to beg and scream for help and the government steps in to force the guy to help. Let's not mention that the guy has no say if he has a kid or not, other than not wrapping it up the daft git.

[–]IronMeltsinmyHands64 points65 points66 points 11 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

Marriage is... A fucking prison sentence served on the outside.

Never have I felt more like Bill Burr when he said, "is this the line to lose half my shit, awesome!this is gonna be great!"

[–]Vigilo_Infinite15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link

Sad irony is he's married now. He didn't want to die alone and cba'd to keep gaming women.

From that standpoint I can see why it would be appealing. I'm in the camp that marriage can work...if you find a horse with a horn on it's head to share it with.

[–]Senior Contributorcocaine_face34 points35 points36 points 11 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Why sign a legal contract? Why not live with a woman without a contract? It's not like the contract is going to make her more likely to stay.

[–][deleted] 9 points9 points9 points 11 years ago | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The only time I can imagine it makes sense is if you plan on having kids and need the tax/etc benefits that marriage provides, and/or are with someone from out of the country and want to live with them in America.

It's still probably pretty fucking stupid, though. The greatest gamble.

[–]cariboo_j4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A lot of countries have common law where you're automatically married if you live together for a certain amount of time...

[–]Senior Contributorcocaine_face2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok, so this advice doesn't apply to those countries. That's not the vast majority of countries though, so this advice is helpful to most men living today.

[–]DONT_reply_with_THIS 4 points4 points4 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I absolutely agree on not signing a contract. I've told my LTR I'm not against the idea of having a 'party' and get married but I refuse to sign a marriage contract. At first she was confused but she now understands. My question is how can she be on my health insurance plan while she's pregnant if we're not legally married?

[–]Modredpillschool6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

That's exactly the arrangement I've got with my LTR. No way would I get the state involved.

[–]DONT_reply_with_THIS 2 points2 points2 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I want my lady to be able to take time off work to focus on our future child after she gives birth. Is it possible to get a woman that you're not legally married to on your health insurance? Is this dependant on your policy/insurance company? I'm finishing school and starting a new job in 2 weeks and will review the health insurance policy but this is the only concern I have about this set up.

[–]1independentmale4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My question is how can she be on my health insurance plan while she's pregnant if we're not legally married?

She can't.

My state has "civil unions" which would allow this without a marriage. Unfortunately they're only for gay people. I looked into it and they won't issue a civil union to a straight couple. Sounds like discrimination to me.

[–]Senior Contributorcocaine_face1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You may not be able to do that. Or maybe you could talk with your health insurance (though they're incentivized in this situation to deny this. Maybe argue some bullshit religious reason? "My faith doesn't allow the government to be involved in my marriage. It must be between me, God, and my wife only.")

I'm assuming you're American - maybe just save up and buy one of the Obamacare gold plans for those 9 months?

[–]Surf_Or_Die21 points22 points23 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Why do you have to get married? Ignoring all that common law marriage bullshit, you can live a long and happy life together with a woman that you love without having some kind of a piece of shit paper from the state telling you that your love is real. If I even get "married" that's how I'll do it. I'll have a ceremony with family and friends but I ain't involving the motherfucking government in it.
The reality is that people change, constantly. You're not going to be the same person 20 years from now. Just like you're not the same person as the kid who was playing in the sandbox. Marriages are too long for how long people live in modern societies. The two things that made it work back in the day was
1. People didn't live as long.
2. You couldn't get divorced without consequences.

A person's word isn't worth jack shit in our society. You can say "I do" all you want but nobody is going to hold it against you if "you don't".

[–]Vigilo_Infinite2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with all of this.

You can make claims for or against marriage but it doesn't to change what you want or what she wants.

I'm not saying you have to get married just because she wants to or because you're "doing the right thing". Those are dumb reasons.

I'm just saying that for some people it works really really well.

If you don't want to, don't get married. I'm personally undecided.

[–]redzorp6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'll have a ceremony with family and friends but I ain't involving the motherfucking government in it.

In most states, the government will get involved whether you like it or not. If you live together, hold yourselves out to family and friends as being "married" or "life partners" or "significant others" etc. then most states (and entire countries in the Western world) will consider you defacto married and you will be subject to all the same alimony/palimony laws that affect married couples.

There is no escape.

The only mitigating tool is an iron-clad prenup written by a law firm with extensive experience. While it is true that prenups sometimes get thrown out of court, many of them hold up. All depends on how it's written and the particular circumstances.

Of course the ultimate solution is to never get married or co-habitate with a woman. Maintain separate residences and expenses.

[–]Surf_Or_Die15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's not true. A quick google search:

Common law marriage: Alabama Colorado District of Columbia Georgia (if created before 1/1/97) Idaho (if created before 1/1/96) Iowa Kansas Montana New Hampshire (for inheritance purposes only) New Mexico Ohio (if created before 10/10/91) Oklahoma (possibly only if created before 11/1/98. Oklahoma’s laws and court decisions may be in conflict about whether common law marriages formed in that state after 11/1/98 will be recognized.) Pennsylvania (if created before 1/1/05) Rhode Island South Carolina Texas Utah

Furthermore, even if you live in a common law marriage state, from the same website, you can draft a document that stops you from getting common law married:

“Jane Smith and John Doe agree as follows: That they’ve been and plan to continue living together as two free, independent beings and that neither has ever intended to enter into any form of marriage, common law or otherwise.”

And lastly:

If You Live in a State that Does Not Recognize Common Law Marriage

There is no way to form a common law marriage, no matter how long you live with your partner. There is one catch: if you spend time in a state that does recognize common law marriage, “hold yourself out as married,” and then return or move to a state that doesn’t recognize it, you are still married (since states all recognize marriages that occurred in other states). However, this is murky legal territory and we don’t recommend experimenting with it!

good information for anyone.

The only mitigating tool is an iron-clad prenup

Maybe in the US, but in certain countries, such as the UK, prenups are worthless.

[–]Senior Contributordr_warlock2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nortern Europe (Sweden, Denmark, Uk) is feminized. Stay away.

[–]IronMeltsinmyHands38 points39 points40 points 11 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Ehhh I'm not so sure.

Giving women the ability to declare divorce without consequence is like handing a child a stick of dynamite that will hurt others but not the child. Obviously, the child isn't hurt, and is excited from the explosion, and does it over and over. No consequences.

Either get rid of no fault divorce, or make it so that only the husband can declare divorce.

Yeah. I went there.

[–]Vigilo_Infinite10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I agree that children should not be given dynamite to begin with but it's not going to change the fact that they are going to be put in places of responsibility at some point and therefore need to be supervised, praised and motivated accordingly.

I'm in the camp that instead of blanket statement that all women are incapable of being good wives and therefore we should destroy marriage as an institution all together, that we should red-pill men so they can recognise the trains of a bad woman who out to take your shit.

You can't make a whore a housewife, remember.

Good marriages can exist but they're to do with rasing the next generation, not for "love".

[–]IronMeltsinmyHands6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point. I agree with you on that last one.

Love that we, as men expect from women, is simply obedience + loyalty.

A man's love is appreciation and kindness.

Other than that, American love is a fool's game. It's only sexual attraction.

[–]bitches_be_crazy864 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

AWALT. Don't try to fix marriage. It makes as much sense as fixing rape or murder.

[–]Grasshopper21-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Turn women back into legal property?

Giving women the ability to declare divorce without consequence

Oh, it's worse than that. Not only are there no consequences, she gets cash and prizes. The state practically incentivizes women to divorce.

[–]RedPill1150 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Giving women the ability to declare divorce without consequence is like handing a child a stick of dynamite that will hurt others but not the child. Obviously, the child isn't hurt, and is excited from the explosion, and does it over and over. No consequences.

This comes up a lot, but it's still not exactly true unless she's young and has no kids.

Divorce is the nuclear option. "nuclear" as in "fucks both parties over".

Look around at people who get divorced. Have you ever seen a girl older than her teens or early twenties end up better off?

My parents got divorced. My dad starting dating a woman more attractive than my mom (she's not amazing, but it's like a 5 rather than a 3). My mom has remained singled forever.

When I see women that do get remarried, they're usually taking a step down. And of course they do - they're older, they have more baggage, they have a kid. They hit the wall and their SMV has gone down. By a lot.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like it kinda worked out for him, his wife doesn't seem very western. He doesn't have kids however, fuck I wanted a Bill Burr junior so bad

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 11 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

Going to give my exceedingly relevant and personal story here. Serves as rather undeniable evidence of the truths of TRP.

My mother was a low-SMV extreme feminazi SJW, a racist (while maintaing the SJW status), and flat out insane. Regardless, she had a very comfortable job as an airline pilot making over $200,000 a year. My father, on the other hand, was your typical intellectual BetaBux nice guy who got married and had kids not too long after my mother had hit the wall (it was her second marriage).

Fast forward several years to when I'm 15 years old and my parents finally got divorced (my Dad was no longer of use to her, only making around $80,000 a year for an engineering job). Naturally, everything worked out to her favor: she got the kids (my sister and I), the big beautiful house, $1000 monthly child support, $1000 monthly alimony, and nearly everything else we owned, leaving my dad in a 1 bedroom apartment with barely enough income to pay her. All this was going on while my mother was making more than TWICE what my father was.

Sounds like she got the sweet end of the stick, right?

Well with woman, enough is never enough! She would insist on getting payments to help with groceries, have him do maintenance on the house, and not grant him his right to visitation.

Not to mention she was an abusive mother, leaving my sister on the brink of suicide (mostly by hypocritically insulting her weight), and myself spiraling into addictions left and right.

Eventually, I got fed up with all the nonsense. She'd be constantly preaching her SJW and feminazi BS, and if I dared to criticize it (I had yet to discover TRP, but I still had a sense of reality), or express myself in anyway, she would unleash quite the tirade. I had enough. One night, around 1:00 AM, I convinced my Dad to bring the car over and I packed up what belongings I could and took off with my sister.

After we had left, my mother still demanded her monthly child support (probably so she could continue her binge shopping). My sister was 18, so she was left out of it, but I was 16, so everything became about me. I got myself an ad litem, and my father got a lawyer and, both being done with all the fucking shit, we went to war. After a long struggle, we finally were able to turn the tide for child support, and alimony got canceled out (in that both parents are paying alimony of 1000$ to each other).

It's been 9 months since I left her, and about 6 months since I've seen her. Just last week, I got the message that she was done with me and wanted nothing to do with me (VICTORY!). There is still a long struggle ahead of us, such as the bulk of my father and I's belongings still being in my mother's possession, and dealing with the psychological effects of abuse, but I am becoming a better person from it all. I discovered TRP, started working out, started reading more, became the top mathematics student at my school, and put great focus on general self improvement. Unfortunately, despite how cruel my mother was, my sister too has become a feminist SJW who thinks the world should love her "just because". It's sad, but AWALT is a fact.

Strangely, I'm glad things turned out the way they did. I've become a stronger person through it all. It also serves as undeniable evidence for the truths of TRP, which became another powerful tool in my life.

Thanks for reading my word vomit. I hope there was something for you guys to get out of this.

TL;DR: Fuck you. I spent the time to write it, you spend the time to read it.

Edit: Changes for readability.

Edit 2: Phrasing and some small details.

California divorce courts have to be the worst in the country. My step dad was married in the 80s and she came back in 2008 with a lawyer and got part of his retirement because there's no time limit on being able to go back after the divorce to get part of it.

not only that, but she agreed to take their house (he gave it 100% to her, worth $150k), sent her support money, she cheated on him,...

and now he has to budget for this bitch.

[–]1independentmale4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

permanent spousal support (alimony) payment be increased from $800 to $1000 per month for the rest of her life or until she remarries.

Fuck. That.

I would quit my job, move to another state or leave the country. No joke. Fuck that shit. Bitch is making six figures and he still has to pay her $12k a year for life? Nope, nope and more nope.

[–]weirdnamedindian2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can they leave? If they block me from leaving, I'd think I would leave my job, hike to Mexico, then catch a plane out of there and go to some country where the US cannot extradite me. Is this not possible for a lot of these men? I mean desperate times call for desperate measures

[–]1independentmale0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some states actually do revoke your passport. I can't understand how this is legal. We've brought back debtor's prison for so called "deadbeat dads" and now we're effectively locking them in the country? Makes me so angry.

I'm with you, I'd find my way into another country one way or another.

[–]jkeegan1232 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think that it's bullshit but the other side of the coin is... If they testimony came from an expert witness it could not be disputed in an appeal, where now at first the fact could be disputed. He presented it after all as median... That does now show anything about her specific situation. If there's a median, there exists a low and a high... So if could be interpreted to say "that's wonderful that this is the population's median, this is not the case for the wife"

Also the court likes these types of things based on merit... Expert witness = good merit. Fact that shows statistics shows where SHE COULD be but not necessarily where she is.

RRead the first paragraph in the quoted text. Steve says she makes good money. It may not be 100k/year, but she still made more than enough to support herself. Since Steve can't seize bank records like the judge can, this was the best he could do. It's still the judges fault for not taking any iniative.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

She replied “because I gave you 24 years of my life” And I didn’t give her 24 years of my life?

Entitlement at its finest. This is why women shouldn't vote. Having a roof over their head, clothes on their back, and food on the table is not considered enough. She expects more after her 'hard work' as a wife maid and nanny.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here for a second.

Assuming they both married fairly young, then it's reasonable to assume that the wife spent more of her lifetime SMV on the marriage than her husband. We're all familiar with Rollo's graph, and it makes very clear who would give up more SMV by staying in the marriage for 24 years.

While that doesn't justify the shitty treatment or the alimony, I would argue that the wife's perception that her 24 years was not equal to his 24 years is not completely baseless.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Alimony has nothing to do with SMV it has to do with making sure one spouse does fall into the dumps because the other was the breadmaker in a marriage. This woman is making 100k a year, there's no need for rehabilitative alimony let alone permanent.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As I said in the original comment

While that doesn't justify the shitty treatment or the alimony, I would argue that the wife's perception that her 24 years was not equal to his 24 years is not completely baseless.

I'm well aware that she made her own money, I'm talking in terms of SMV

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok and what about the opportunity cost of him staying faithful to her during his peak SMV? They both sacrificed SMV, he may have some left i don't know but i doubt he's at his peak still unless he got married at 18.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

opportunity cost

That's really what this is about. Let's assume for the sake of argument that they got married at 22, divorced at 46, and that Rollo's SMV chart is gospel truth

Her opportunity cost is her SMV going from 10 points to 1, while his is going from 10 points to 5. That's why I argue she had the larger opportunity cost, at least in terms of SMV.

[–]doublereignbeau22 points23 points24 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

On the contrary, his 24 years is worth more than her 24 years.

Women want a man to commit to her in a marriage. Men want to sleep around with many different women. The woman got what she wanted for 24 years, the man didn't. In fairness, she should be paying him for the sacrifice that HE made.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women want a man to commit to her in a marriage. Men want to sleep around with many different women.

Women want AF/BB, men want as many women as possible, and marriage (in theory) is a compromise between the two. If she didn't do AF/BB and he didn't sleep with many different women, can you objectively say that one sacrifice was greater than the other?

[–]doublereignbeau7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Because the woman didn't lose her capacity to AF during the marriage. The man committed resources and lost his ability to be BB to another woman. He sacrificed more.

Edit: a page down is a post claiming 4 of 10 women on tinder are married. A woman can AF countless people because she commits no resources to a relationship. BB only can commit his bank account once.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because the woman didn't lose her capacity to AF during the marriage.

Now see that, I disagree with...a 45 or 50-year-old woman is going to have a much, MUCH, lower capacity for attracting alpha fucks than a girl in her early 20s.

Probably none at all, how many 50-year-olds are there that an actual alpha is actually going to want to fuck?

lost his ability to be BB to another woman

Under the feminist regime, yes he would have thanks to alimony.

But assuming no alimony or child support, and no loss of career, he would easily be capable of being beta bucks to another woman

[–]doublereignbeau5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was talking about the sacrifice they both made in their 20 ' s married to one another.

Since women commit 0 resources to a relationship ie paying for dates, the man sacrificed more since he couldn't BB 2 women during his 20's but she COULD still AF even with a husband while in her 20 ' s.

[–]Ojisan12 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if I agreed with you, how do you put a dollar value on SMV? Especially in a legal context. It's arbitrary, there's no standard. 5 years of female SMV spent on a broke guy = $1000/mo. 1 year of female SMV spent with a billionaire = $10,000/mo.

[–]Vigilo_Infinite2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In any other venture, it would be moronic to allow a group contributing 25-33% of the funds to have 55% control of the fund distribution.

Ok, great. So just let the 1% rule the world. After all, they have 80% of the wealth, so the "contribute" more than the rest...

Do you realise that in the same breath you are supporting the abolishment of alimony because women can make their own money to live, you say that they shouldn't vote because they aren't contributing monetarily in the same way...

The hamster can work both ways....

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: leave politics out of TRP. You want to discuss politics, there are plenty of subs to go.

At this point, all he has done is obtain approval to collect signatures to get this measure on the ballot. He has to get over 360,000 signatures before it will actually appear on a ballot in an election. You don't get that number of signatures with a few friends going door-to-door or setting up a table outside of a few Kroger's. Unless he is well-heeled in order to hire an army of canvassers, or has a very active grassroots network, don't expect this to end up on the ballot.

And even if it ends up on the ballot, it would take a majority of voters to pass it. With a large portion of the electorate being women, and another large portion being male BP/SJWs, this has about a snowball's chance in hell of ever becoming law.

Neat idea, but it's DOA.

Alimony will end in this country when women make much more money than men for less work all across the board, in every possible sector of society. When that happens, and the wimimins start paying alimony in more than 30% of cases, there will be a huge outcry and alimony with end. But only at that point.

Look at Sweden - the Saudi Arabia of feminism where all of the above applies. No alimony in Sweden!

[–]IronMeltsinmyHands1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]newls10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep, society isn't fair or equal until men are forced to earn less than women disregarding the value they provide. /s

I jest but this is literally how many people think. It goes to show that the whole 'feminism isn't a zero-sum game' is a false platitude.

They want to defy economics and literally force companies to employ based on gender and race rather than merit. When you look at it this way society looks really fucked up.

[–]IronMeltsinmyHands0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thing wrong with beta males is they want to be in "love" that is what they care about.

They've got no responsibilities until they get married. I forget his name but his book is called the case against adulthood or something like that. Basically he says, if you treat children like adults, they'll mature faster.

Well, earlier, not faster. But there is benefit to it.

Most people who would vote to end alimony are already pretty nihilistic about America's future. Conservatives would never oppose the notion even if they weren't already gun-shy about women's votes. Liberals won't end it because it's a handout to the poor, oppressed womens.

Now, I lean optimist and think that any amount of publicity on this issue would be a step toward making it a national conversation like gay marriage. At that point, it's not a matter of winning the debate (you won't, not for a long time) but of giving the opposing side every opportunity to look like dumb, selfish commies in the most public forum we can find. The key here, and the one that I don't think the manosphere has found yet (many would doubt it exists at all), is how to publicize a Men's Issue without turning it into a Women's Issue - i.e., transform "end alimony" into "do women need alimony?".

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

California's initiative process has major flaws, but the nice thing about it is the chance for voters to do an end run around the legislature on issues the legislature won't touch.

Conservative and liberal legislators would not draft a bill like this for the reasons you say, but throughout California there are conservative and liberal victims of divorce rape, maybe even a divorce attorney or two, who would vote for this.

There's been a lot of innovative shit come out of this process in California, both good and bad.

Does it piss anyone else off that alimony is simply massive theft sanctioned by governments that could only be eliminated by half of the voters outlawing it? Whether or not a woman can squeeze you dry for decades is dependent on which box a bunch of dumbfucks check (some of whom have an interest in keeping the theft in place). So I guess 'fuck democracy' is what I'm saying. Might as well allow 51% of people vote to kill the other 49%.

Alimony and everything else the government does. It's just theft, extortion - it's a protection racket basically. Democracy is just as much oppression as dictatorships and organized crime. People are just indoctrinated from birth so their moral circuitry stops working as soon as they hear the word democracy.

Its not theft because you have to agree to it when you married. This isn't like taxes where the government comes after you if you don't join the system.

Even if it passes the California 9th circuit court of appeals will just declare it unconstitutional. They do this with every piece of legislation that passes that they don't like.

When men were in power, they gave women rights when women asked for it. That shows

1) men are humane and/or

2) if you fight for it, you can get it

That means, it shouldn't matter to men if women are the majority voters. Either women prove that they are human enough to support something rational and fair, or men fight for it.

[–]NeoreactionSafe16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It makes sense to attempt this.

There would still be child support which can be adjusted based on the income of the ex-husband.

If nothing else it streamlines the divorce process.

No women will vote for this... so it's probably not going to pass.

There would still be child support which can be adjusted based on the income of the ex-husband.

Then let's get rid of this, too. I never understood the logic. If someone says, "You're responsible for X", wouldn't the first and most logical question be, "Well, how much does X cost?"

We've all seen celebrities sometimes get hit with absurd child support payments, like $20,000 a month. For an infant. Get real.

And I live on the other side of the world from my kids. If I bust my ass over here, and make an extra 20% one year, how does is suddenly cost 20% more to raise kids many thousands of miles away? And ABSOLUTELY irrespective of how much it ACTUALLY costs to raise them.

My thought is this: I generally think alimony is bullshit, but let's face it, it will never go away without a radical change. So a better solution might be to slowly chip away at the "qualifications" for alimony.

  • Principles:

END. NO. FAULT. DIVORCE. Marriage is a serious choice to enjoin your life with another person for what's supposed to be a lifetime. Make it harder to get out of and people might rethink getting married on a whim.

No "lifetime" alimony, it's supposed to be temporary to allow the lesser income having spouse to get settled.

  • Terms:

Scrap "qualifications", make it upon request. Someone should have to request alimony, it should not be considered an automatic grant. Also, separate alimony hearings from divorce proceedings.

  • Length of marriage:

Set a minimum, say 10 years. That way, there is no "quick money" to be had, and it gets the couple past the first few rocky years when most divorces occur, and then also past the '7 year itch'.

  • Income disparity:

What type of work has the spouse requesting the alimony done in the past? What type are they doing now? Did they get a lower paying job purposefully? That last question is to determine whether or not the spouse is capable of getting an income that is sufficient for their needs. Make bank records monitored. Opening too many lines of credit? Alimony gone. Making needless purchases? Alimony gone. Consistently have a surplus in checking? Alimony gone. Compare all bank records with paychecks; no hiding money.

  • Children:

How many children are there? What do the couple's bank records say about how much it costs to raise them?

Require joint custody that way neither parent can claim child support, which could open the door for additional alimony payments.

  • Lifestyle:

This one is simple. Have an independent accountant go through the bank records to determine what the actual cost of living should be for each spouse. Make it rigid. Do not allow for "designer"/"luxury" anything: clothing, vacations, salon visits, gym memberships.. I mean fucking anything that is not utterly critical to existence.

  • Finally:

Make the spouse requesting alimony pay half of the costs for the independent accountant and additional court hearings for alimony.

It sounds rigid, yes, but perhaps making this a burdensome process will disincline spouses from automatically fighting for alimony when they don't actually need it. Or at least they might settle for less.

Maybe I'm too extreme, but I've seen too many male friends have to pay alimony to cheating spouses for bullshit reasons, even though the marriages were very short (less than 2 years).

Marriage is retarded bullshit.
That's all it is.
People are literally brainraped by fiction entertainment that they can't see past the tradition that says that at some point in their relationship they actually need to let a government entity barge into their relationship and literally take control of their financial assests so that they can 'officialize' their love and finally live a happy life together.

That's about the most retarded shit I've ever heard.

Not to mention the obvious paradox that no one seems to notice.. couples say they love each other so much they want to spend their life together till they die so in 'logical' consequence they need a government entity to make sure they actually keep that promise...they love each other so much they need someone else to make sure they ''stay'' in love?WTF?

It's as if saying that I love my girlfriend so much I need aliens to come down and put a probe up both our asses! Why?!To make sure we stay together!Haha...Weehee! Let's willingly give up control of our financial assets to the government, now we're good citizens like everyone else!

Marriage served its purpose in preindustrial times when women were dependent on male manual labor and there were few social safety nets.

If a woman was pregnant or had a small child, and was abandoned by her husband, she'd be SOL. However in 2015 there are plenty of white and pink collar jobs as well as social safety nets. It really doesn't make sense to hold the husband responsible for supporting the wife especially if she was the one that chose to leave the marriage.

Or just one simple fix - Alimony can be for no longer than the term of the marriage. Only married 2 years? Enjoy your 2 years of Alimony.

Well, two fixes - also amend the "unless married again" to include someone living with you for 6 months or more. Once the ex-wife loses you and has to settle for the loser who works at Kennys Shoes, she might not want to get married and risk losing her $1000/mo she's currently harvesting from you.

I don't think it should be for the length of the marriage. What if someone is married for 20 years? 20 years alimony sounds a little unreasonable, eh?

[–]DannyDemotta1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Definitely, it should depreciate. After the first year or two, cut it by 20%. Cut another 10% each year until it's a fat goose egg. We shouldn't be encouraging divorcees to sit at home, refuse to get re-married (to beat the system), and collect free money.

Being married, or having been married, should be no excuse to not learn and maintain a single marketable job skill as the years go by. Accounting, Personal Trainer, Web Designer, Clothing Design/Alteration, there's a ton of things you can learn at home/online, while doing The World's Toughest Job®. You sure as shit can do it once there's no more kids at home.

This guy is my new hero. Why did this take so long?

[–]scarletspider312 points13 points14 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure all the 'strong independent women' won't have a problem with this.

I don't know why people keep parroting "it will never get passed". This could very realistically get passed without any issue.

The bigger issue is weather the courts would just shuffle the cards and transfer that lost wealth over to child support payments. Any law against dissolving alimony would have to address the issue. Really there's almost no difference between alimony and child support anyways so we all know it would happen.

[–]AnotherLostCause0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Child support would have to end when the child became an adult.

There are big differences if you don't have children or your children are adults.

This already happens in Australia. Alimony (or as it's known here, spousal maintenance) only lasts for a set period, the most is usually about 2 years, and men and women can apply for it.

[–]Mjazz30 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same where I live. 2 years is the maximum, 6 months is more common and if the woman has a FT job there is none. Guys who live in California should sign this guys petition, and if it gets to a referendum then try persuade a few friends to vote for it.

I'd recommend posting this to /r/mensrights, thats more their area of knowledge.

The good thing about this is that he doesn't mention entitlement or privilege. So Feminists cannot pry on it.

It's never gonna pass but I'll vote for it if I can.

Cool that this guy is from my home town!

Makes more sense there...so much marriage there...

When men were in power, they gave women rights when women asked for it. That shows

1) men are humane and/or

2) if you fight for it, you can get it

That means, it shouldn't matter to men if women are the majority voters. Either women prove that they are human enough to support something rational and fair, or men fight for it.

Stories like this underscore the importance of participating in the political process by voting, writing to representatives and donating time or money to organizations that fight against the feminine imperative sex strategy that was foolishly written into law. There is no such thing as inalienable rights. You have only the rights you are willing to assert for yourself, so get out there and fight like men.

Just avoid marriage altogether and your life will likely be more peaceful and happy.

One thing I like about certain southern states: North Carolina is a No Alimony state, Texas is a conditional alimony state (only when abuse, neglect, or adultery is concerned). If you're religious and must get married, avoid Florida or any granola states.

[–]armenia4ever0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't pay alimony.

Id rather go to jail - I'm dead serious - then pay alimony.

If enough men do this, the system will crash.

How is it that Christians say it? May God have mercy on his soul? THIS is forward-thinking not that neo-feminazi bullshit.

Laws like this have been already passed on state levels. See Massachusetts. Alimony limited to 10 years tops and usually less with orders for receiving party to get training for employment. If there is enough support for it and with politicians being mostly rich males it actually has a good chance of passing.

No 10 year cap in Mass. (Some Southern states like TX have those). The Mass Alimony Reform bill has a sliding scale and allows for alimony anywhere from 1 to 20 years, and permanent alimony is still available if the Judge decides the situation warrants it. Here is the language:

http://www.massalimonyreform.org/legislation.html

Very recently the Mass SJC made things worse for men by finding a way around the "shall end at retirement" language

No alimony at all seems a bit unfair. If a man divorces a woman who gave up her career to be a stay at home mom then there would be no reassurances for women that marriage would be a benefit, and families would suffer. I think something more reasonable would look like:

No alimony unless:

  • You are not the partner bringing the divorce.

  • A partner left the workforce in order to raise children for more than 6 months, or more time than their employer was willing to offer paternal leave.

  • A partner sacrificed a career position in order to move to a job in another area for the other partner. (for example a guys wife gets 6 figure job in California, so he leaves his own job in new York in order to move with her.)

The problem (and the reason you're getting downvoted, I suspect) is that you're using the fringe example to justify the feminist position. Basically,

here's a fringe example where alimony would be fair

therefore

no alimony at all seems a bit unfair

which gets wrung through the feminist courts, and we're back at

alimony for life! grrl power!

You're right, under those ground rules alimony might be fair. BUT. That is maybe 10% of divorces, tops. Soon, that 10% becomes the precedent for alimony rape for all the rest, and we're back where we started.

woman who gave up her career to be a stay at home mom

Nobody forced her to give up her career or become a stay at home mom. Stop assuming women don't have agency to make their own decisions, shitlord.

[–]derper-man 3 points3 points3 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I agree. It is her decision. If she decides to have kids then feels like divorcing her husband, no alimony. If a couple decide to have kids and she sacrifices her carear then he dumps her she can try to get alimony.

She already benefitted from his income when he covered all of her worldly wants and needs while they were married. Upon divorce they should be even. The only exception is if they require for the duration of her receiving alimony that she still takes care of his house (cooks and cleans) and perhaps sucks his dick once a week.

[–]IronMeltsinmyHands3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The world moves on. You cannot expect to provide for everyone.

If there is no alimony, divorce rates will suffer, just a little. And women will lose some of their "independence" (read: childish behavior).

Life is not all fun and games. Women think marriage will be like the films. It's not.

Women need to stop talking cues from television. And men need to stop saying "yes dear."

See, we're not monsters. We're just ahead of the curve.
