I frequent some women centered subs to try and see things from a different perspective and this is a topic that comes up very often. Women seem to feel obligated to do their man's emotional labor in a relationship. If you are one of these women, why do it?

Do you not expect your SO to do basic human tasks like remember his mother's birthday? Do you not expect your SO to realize he is out of milk and he needs to go pick up more? Why is it your job to remind him to get his best friend a Christmas card?

It seems as if many of these women are dating emotional children then go vent about it online instead of doing the obvious thing, which is dating a man who has his shit together.

So those of you who do their SO's emotional labor, why? And those of you who DON'T do their SO's emotional labor, why not?
