The radical feminist TERFs make sense sometimes.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

U mean on tranny issues?

[–]drok007Not white enough to be blue pill4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More than just the tranny issues. Just that men and women are different. Egalitarians and BP types seem confused about that.

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Fuck TERFs

[–]drok007Not white enough to be blue pill2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I mean all feminists are terrible on some level. TERFs are just more palatable than the rest.

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I find them as some of the worst. They make life hell for trans people.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

By reminding them of their sex?

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Who gives a damn about their sex? It's not our business and yet TERFS put so much effort into messing up trans people's lives politically, socially, and mentally.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, If I'm dating someone I believe is a girl I definitely care about her sex. And if she's actually a dude she better tell me before we kiss or do anything like that.

So I could tell him to gtfo

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Trans people are usually very upfront about being trans when it comes to dating. They don't want to date someone who will reject them. It's in everyone's best interest to be transparent.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They better be.

Why do you flair as red tbp?

[–]AliceOxalis 9 points9 points9 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I'll copy-pasta the answer I give to people who ask that:

My beliefs are a mixture of Terf, Rpw, and Tbp. Here are the main points I agree with from each.

TERF: there is a unique significance to being Woman that cannot be replicated by a haphazard conglomeration of faked female body parts. MtF trans are just men using male privilege to mansplain femaleness to women. I also agree with their stance against pornography and prostitution, and agree with them that promiscuity is pressured by men and is damaging to women.

RPW: They key to a happy life for a woman is finding one good worthy man, settling down, and treating him like a king. Traditional femininity is powerful and embracing it is important to being attractive and happy as a woman. Also, women are different and excellent in their own ways, we are not defective men who should have to compete with men at being masculine, that's a one-way ticket to depression.

TBP: The male users of TRP are horrendous and hilariously stupid and great fodder to make fun of. They are solipsistic and hamstering and emotional and get SO MUCH STUFF wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

so basically RPWi then ;)

[–]betterdeadthanbetaHeartless cynical bastard0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like the hate in your eyes.

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Close-minded? Kettle, meet pot.

I don't find my womanhood to be so fragile that I feel it threatened by trans women. Why do you even care? I'm pretty sure that my understanding and experience of being a woman is vastly different from yours and yet you wouldn't ever consider me as not a woman.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

You have two x chromosomes. You are a woman. Trans are delusional men and autogynephiles.

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Trans people are rather lucid. I've also met women who have androgen insensitivity syndrome I.e. they developed physically as women since their bodies can't process testosterone even though they have XY chromosomes.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Trans people are rather lucid

they are like schizophrenics who believe they are napoleon or they are autogynephiles. we dont treat people who think theyre napoleon by allowing them to invade russia then exiling them to elba

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Trans people want to dress more femininely and use the women's restrooms and pronous - what a horror! /s

What is so difficult about accommodating for that? Rocket science is difficult. A land invasion of Russia is difficult. Updating how we categorize and treat trans people is as easy as pie.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

i dont want to use a bathroom that has men in it, or changing rooms, or locker rooms. i dont believe trans are female or women, i think they are men. you and they have no right to force me to treat trans people as women and i will not

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Are you afraid they'll creep on you? If so then that a really childish assumption to make. They just want to go to the bathroom or touch up their makeup and get on with their day. It's not as if you'd ever know that someone like this woman is a trans person.

More interesting female characters in movies and TV.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago* (70 children) | Copy Link

the problem is, the only way to make female characters in movies and tv more "interesting" is to make them into inexplicably powerful and interesting weak little men who can fight and who men listen to for some unknown reason. this is in fact RUINING tv and movies. theres lots of movies about "interesting" female characters who are ALSO female psychologically and act female and have female motivations and lives, guess what, you wouldnt like them. go watch a film called heartland with conchetta farrel and rip torn. it wil lnot be "interesting" to you, its a story about an actual woman having an actual female life with female interests and female motivations, not a kick boxing porn star

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link

I was complaining to my SO the other day about how a lot of well-meaning male writers and directors respond to feminist criticism by making these perfectly heroic (well, she's clumsy teehee) and endlessly capable female characters. Rey from Star Wars is a perfect example... we get it she's strong and independent but she's boring, give her a weakness. A woman can be a protagonist and not be a one-dimensional anything-he-can-do-i-can-do-better Mary Sue... I'd love to see the dark side of female psychology explored more. The problem is that the men who write these characters don't relate to women and don't want to accidentally write a stereotype by giving a female character typically feminine flaws.

Cersei Lannister has been one of my favorite characters to come out of mainstream entertainment as of late... she's a fucking bitch and you love to hate her but she's interesting, you can dissect her motives and beliefs and see where she's strong and where she's weak. You know she's gonna break eventually but she's gonna go out in a blaze of glory. She serves a greater purpose in the plotline than just proving that women are strong and capable.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

i agree with you 10000% cersei is what FEMALE power looks like, she is a real woman with real female motivations who isnt a pale little imitation of a man

[–]FishingWithShoesOnRed Pill-ish Man0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And she comes across as absolutely crazy to men

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well yeh, but she's all that she is in a female way, not a male way is the point

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Idk I find Rey pretty interesting and Jessica Jone's tortured self pretty meh. Cersei is great.

[–]aznphenix1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same with catelyn and (later) sansa imo.

[–]tintedlipbalmfemale-to-tamale woman0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Rey from Star Wars is a perfect example...

I ranted so much about this at the time, yet feminist sites refuse to see her as a Mary Sue.

The problem is shoehorning women into male character archetypes to make them appealing to men. I'm not even a feminist, but in this instance I agree with the male gaze concept because of what it's doing to media.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

A woman can be a protagonist and not be a one-dimensional anything-he-can-do-i-can-do-better Mary Sue... I'd love to see the dark side of female psychology explored more.

That's why I quite liked watching Gone Girl cuz it delivered this perfectly and was outside the normal repetitive Hollywood clichés in general as a story.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

this is why we need more female writers. most male writers seem inclined to write women as weak-but-smart-and-sexy men. with nice racks, of course.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Female writers can also write shitty female characters. See Twilight and 50SOG. I don't even think it's much about the gender of the writer, but more about talented writers being outnumbered by the shit ones who still get published because they make a lot of money for publishers by appealing to the lowest common denominator.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well yeah... women writers can still be shitty, I guess I thought not hiring shitty writers went without saying. IIRC both of those ladies came from the fanfiction circuit so at least literary expectations of them were low lol.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Female power designed to titillate men vs female strength as wish fulfillment for women

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (42 children) | Copy Link

That isn't the only way, but it's the most common way because its probably the easiest way to do things. Making interesting male and female characters is very difficult to say the least. Game of Thrones is a prime example of interesting male and female characters. Its also very involving as well and very complex. That doesn't make for good tv for companies like ABC where they want light hearted tv shows that are shallow.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (26 children) | Copy Link

All the "interesting" female characters in GoT are male-lite except for cersei, unless you find the boring worthless sansa "interesting"

Brienne, arya, that bitch fag snow was in love with, the ironborn dyke, the sea slugs or whatever they're called, the dragon bitch what's female about any of them except for tits?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I could buy Brienne as a high androgen women. Her need for acceptance was diverted from being desirable, which she never could be, into chivalry, which was highly valued. Notice the pain in her performance when she discovered how ugly she was.

If theres one dykey chick who reads as high androgren and has the build to pull it off, its one thing. Katie Sackoff in BattleStar Galactica was a great example. She was about as androgynous-looking as you could cast while maintaining some degree of sex appeal. And she had feminine labile behind her aggressive behavior.

Its another to shoehorn 10 of the archetype in, and have them played by 100 lb 19 year olds, and paradoxically claim there are strictly enforced gender roles in that universe and all those women are somehow exceptions.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

All the "interesting" female characters in GoT are male-lite except for cersei

Ya have to disagree. But then again what is interesting is boring to others. Its not some universal thing by any means.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Which female character on GoT that is interesting also is psychologically female, has a remotely female life, female interests, motivations, wants, desires or behaviors? Please explain your example, ie what about them is "female" in nature besides their tits

[–]disposable_pants6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haven't watched much of the show, but I've read all the books.

  • Catelyn Stark: She's notably feminine in her internal monologues and in many actions. She's devoted to her husband, obeys him, and wants to give him another child. When her son becomes KOTN she defers to him even though he's still just a teenager. Her dying thought is about her hair and how much her husband loved it. Yet she plays an integral part in the start of the War of Five Kings (receives a warning from her sister, enlists the help of other nobles to capture Tyrion, organizes help to make it through the mountain clans to the Vale, is a key advisor to her son when he becomes King) and later takes over a peasant insurgency that destabilizes the Lannister's hold on the Iron Throne.
  • Daenerys Targaryen: Also notably feminine in her internal monologues and in many actions. She's at first concerned about Drogo finding her acceptable, then later uses her sexuality to capture his attention, then shows concern for the women of defeated tribes, slaves, and other have-nots in Essos. She also struggles between her sexual attraction to a mercenary captain and the benefits of a political marriage. But she also conquers most of a continent and shrewdly maintains the loyalty of a patchwork alliance, all in support of her eventual goal of retaking Westeros.
  • Cersei Lannister: You already noted that she meets your criteria, so there's no need to expound further.

You can definitely make a case that a lot more female characters fit the bill, too, but these are the three most prominent, so that's really all that needs to be said.

[–]sublimemongrelBecky, Esq.3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Dany is collectivist and wants to free slaves and shit. She used her femininity to gain control of the dothraki. She's an interesting character who is also feminine, IMO.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Dany was dues ex machina-ed into her position. Every thing she takes a "stand" against is something the viewer would... as a given... no question. Dany isnt male or female, she's you.

[–]tintedlipbalmfemale-to-tamale woman0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She's like white savior complex personified.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hate her. I thought it would be have been great social commentary if she turned "evil". Fuck with the audience.

Fight the oppressor? Oh, the oppressor is you.

Another one to add is margery and to some degree the queen of thornes (... i forget her name). Show! Shae abd ros might count too.

The red woman, Margaery Tyrell and her grandmother are all interesting female Machiavellians.

yes, them

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

psychologically female, has a remotely female life, female interests, motivations, wants, desires or behaviors

What does that have to do with anything other than you seemingly want a woman to be box into a gender role and not be allowed outside of it? As heaven forbid they don't know their place in life right?

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How are you defining psychologically female?

Cersei is all about her kids (and incest but table that for now). Her role as a mother is central to her behaviors.

Also Marge T was undeniably feminine and proud of it. She used it well. Until... Well you know.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

ok, margery, that's one. cersei had already been mentioned as one. so thats it. in a show full of women two are discernably "female" in any way besides tits

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well you seem to be defining male as "does stuff". So yeah, by that definition all the women who do stuff will be acting male.

But I was hoping for a more in depth explanation of what you meant.

Also Kat was interesting, definitely female. And the queen of thorns. And lady crane for a bit.

I've seen numerous articles from feminists bitching about one problematic aspect or another.

The most laughable is that it encourages violence against women by depicting it so frequently. Sure I'll grant they show women getting hurt/killed more than most other shows. But you have to ignore the piles of dead, flayed, and/or castrated men to claim it targets women uniquely.

I've never seen a feminist praise it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Discussing the flaws of something you love doesn't mean you love it any less. Also, "Game of Thrones is an amazing show. The characters are compelling, it's clear the writers love the world GRR Martin has given them, it's better than most films that come out." - Miss Maude (a feminist who has GOT viewing parties every damn Sunday).

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Discussing the flaws of something you love doesn't mean you love it any less.

Only discussing the flaws, vowing to never watch it again, and never once saying anything good about it does kinda mean that.

Imagine if your "boyfriend" said you're fat and disgusting and he never wants to see you again and you were never dating in the first place so please go.

Describe your relationship.

Also, "Game of Thrones is an amazing show.

Of course. Feminists are usually wrong. So their hate is kind of an endorsement.

The characters are compelling, it's clear the writers love the world GRR Martin has given them, it's better than most films that come out." - Miss Maude (a feminist who has GOT viewing parties every damn Sunday).

Have you considered that you may be a dreaded "no true feminist"?

Are you aware of the many feminists who have savaged this show for portraying violence against women and who have vowed to never watch it again?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Of course. Feminists are usually wrong. So their hate is kind of an endorsement.

If you use feminism for a stand in for "things I think are wrong" Then of course. Unfortunately its not that simple.

If you use feminism for a stand in for "things I think are wrong" Then of course. Unfortunately its not that simple.

I don't. It just works out that way.

Wrong isn't defined as "what Trump says".

But there's a strong correlation.

Same thing.

Imagine if your "boyfriend" said you're fat and disgusting and he never wants to see you again and you were never dating in the first place so please go.

You're describing interactions with a singular person certainly you understand how poor an analogy this is for views held by a group of people.

Have you considered that you may be a dreaded "no true feminist"?

No. Have you considered that you're building a strawman which doesn't align to the views of many (I'd venture a majority of) feminists? Google "Feminist Game of Thrones" half of the hits are lauding it as a feminist masterpiece.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ya you do. As 5th Law said there are numerous articles saying how bad/problematic the show is.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Try having interactions with feminists outside click bait. Seems to be a common theme with another-feminists, you don't actually know any feminists.

Try having interactions with feminists outside click bait.

I do, problem is often a very short lived conversation 99% of the time.

you don't actually know any feminists.

I know you, doesn't that count? But I don't know any real life feminists nor do intend to. I likely will trigger the hell out of them. Online I know some but its not like we are pen pals. But that doesn't matter when I can easily find articles from feminists that aren't clickbait.

There is absolutely nothing feminine about Jessica Jones but her looks.

I can think of plenty of counterexamples which are feminine characters. Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada was hilarious. So was Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, and she was also a great role model (kindhearted, non-judgmental, intelligent, sassy, confident). Cady Heron in Mean Girls goes through a fairly realistic teenage maturing process.

So by your standards Ripley from aliens doesn't act like a stereotypical female character, and thus bad.

ripley is one of the better ones, and was of interest SPECIFICALLY because she was one of the first of this trope, not the latest in a long line of completely unbelievably and ludicrous weak little girl characters who inexplicably wield broadswords and command men inzombie apocalypses

[–]AliceOxalis 3 points3 points3 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

The Ripley alien movie also dealt with a lot of deep themes of motherhood and the femininity that accompanies mothering instincts and protecting children.

[–]OfSpock0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Technically, that's exactly what she was. The character was written as a man in the original script. She wasn't stereotypical in either version.

Ripley was originally written as male? I had no idea.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She wasn't really "bad ass" in the movie. Its not like she beat up the fucking alien like she would have in a 2016 remake. She used problem-solving skills while exhibiting emotional control over very palpable fear. Thats the sort of heroism women envision for themselves. Thats why movies written for women often show them conquering some sort of tragedy.

Actually they're working to prevent that. They want to shoehorn women in to everything but women can't be interesting characters because they can't be flawed. Feminists will rebuilt if you ever show a woman as genuinely evil or creepy or predatory or whatever.

So they don't want interesting women characters. They want lots of one dimensional perfect women as propaganda.

Same here, only thing. I don't see how it's not treated like a mental disorder like many others.

[–]aznphenix2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

It kind of is, just the treatment is to transition for a lot of them. We have no way to change their brain to make it congruous to the body they have (not to mention most people would consider brain modification to be more of a loss of self than body modification)

[–]tintedlipbalmfemale-to-tamale woman1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The thing is this somehow remains the mainstream idea which I see people repeating all over (and I used to repeat it myself) but people fail to mention that dysphoric feelings are actually like feelings, fleeting, and a good chunk of people get over them. It's dangerous that HRT is pushed on confused teenagers, and the pharmaceutical industry is pretty content with this solution. Reading a lot of what trans people think and go through, I think dysphoria is not this big single thing, but a conflation of many small issues like trauma and anxiety that then get built up and somehow end up being processed as the wrong body.

Not to mention how they have moved this mental illness politically, it's clearly more than just "therapy" at this point.

[–]aznphenix0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Most people who end up getting HRT do so after many years of therapy. Also, you don't really start with young teens, you pretty much delay puberty once you make the diagnosis and HRT starts much later.

For some people they are fleeting feelings, but for others they are much more constant or permanent. It's the difference between feeling numb/depressed occasionally vs. having depression and having that feeling be more constant.

[–]tintedlipbalmfemale-to-tamale woman0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Puberty blockers are also another thing that should be looked into a lot more before prescribing it to young patients because of a theory that is in development. I think this is a huge blindspot in medicine because of the political pressure that is linked with trans as part of the LGBT group.

When I'm saying the feelings aren't permanent I'm not saying they should just 'get over them', I'm saying that transitioning is not the fix in the way you put it because dysphoric feelings are not even the root of the issue. The way the mainstream puts it, as matching the body to the brain, is a very simplistic view of how our body and brain are even linked. Not to mention the argument of brain gender is usually meant to be deterministic (trans from birth aka born in the wrong body treated in the same line as sexual orientation) does not account for trauma and anxiety leading to dysphoria in development.

[–]aznphenix0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree that transitioning is not a perfect fix. In fact I agree with a lot of what you say, that for some people it's not necessarily that it's some born mismatch. But lots of people with dysphoria are already in therapy, what else do you suggest after they've already tried to deal with the issue without transitioning? There's more research that needs to be done, but we do need to address the people affected now too.

[–]anitapkcsarlbmed ggse0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Seeing how many of them regret transitioning to the point of suicide I wonder if there is hope of something more effective in the future!

[–]aznphenix0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, hopefully we come up with something better. Some of it's helped by loosening gender roles though, since some people's dysphoria is caused by very much not wanting to behave/portray themselves in the way that society wants them to.

[–]anitapkcsarlbmed ggse1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

No one is enforcing anything anymore. It's all in their heads.

Most people act within their gender roles because that's how most humans work and it's not healthy to think to change everyone because of a few sick individuals

[–]aznphenix0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Maybe enforce is too strong of a word. Some people are pushy about following certain gender roles though. In kindergarten(... this was like almost 20 years ago though, now that I think about it) we were all supposed to be part of some skits over the holidays or sth, and had a choice of things to do. I didn't want to do any of the girly stuff, but they still tried to push me into it. In the end I won, because I'm pretty sure I stuck to it and refused to do the girly things. I was always pretty disappointed with some presents I got from friends because at that age you're mostly just giving things that you yourself would like to receive (so really girly stuff like tea sets or jewelry) when I'd much rather get legos or video games, or the small subset of girly things that I actually liked (and my parents thankfully understood). I'm sure some parts of it could be made up in their heads, but gender roles are still encouraged. This isn't entirely shitty, since I was never forced into any of these positions and it's just small disappointments, but the assumptions behind them still exist and influence people's behaviors, and some people are really shitty about it (and therefore enforce it. Thankfully not the majority of people at this point (I hope)). It's just little things that make it just a little bit harder to do the things you love vs. just going with the flow because it's just easier when you fit into boxes other people put you in.

[–]anitapkcsarlbmed ggse0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's not enforcing gender roles, that is treating kids according to their sex.

Many of us didn't wanna do girly stuff either because boys used to do more fun stuff, and many of us also liked legos or mighty Max.

The things you've described are more similar to what many girls have gone through than you think.

Changing the world to treat everyone as asexual isn't really a solution.

[–]aznphenix0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Treating kids according to their sex should not include pushing them to do girly things instead WHEN THEY HAVE MADE THE DECISION ALREADY TO NOT DO THAT THING. The second example I gave I can concede, fine.

[–]anitapkcsarlbmed ggse0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Kids always don't want to do stuff for a bazillion reasons including girly or boyish stuff. That includes games, sports, all sorts of things. If parents stopped pushing for what they think is right kids would watch TV and eat candies all day.

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You know what commonly happens when they start transitioning? Their families and friends disown them, reject them, cut them out of their lives. If they have particularly shitty parents, they'll get beaten up. Coming out as trans can be dangerous and the road to transition is awfully difficult. It's rarely talked about in mainstream media but it is really common in lgbt media to discuss how often trans people are murdered. Those easily accepting parents that you see celebrated in the news are the exception, not the rule. Is it really that hard to grasp that some trans people may become suicidal over coming out and transitioning? There are some strong analogies between how trans people coming out now and how gay people came out a decade or two ago. I grew up hearing how people talk about sick and messed up in the head gay people are as a gay kid. I can empathize with trans people.

I'm not denying the shit they go through but some pekple never accept themselves even when others accept them.

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

People can have depression even when their lives are just fine. It's not a new concept and it happens all the time. I'm making the argument that a larger proportion of the trans population in comparison with the general population will have trouble with depression due to society shitting on them.

[–]anitapkcsarlbmed ggse0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The fact about lives being fine contrasts with what many say and that if only trans people were fully accepted they would live happily. As you say it's common to not be in acceptance of yourself, and it doesn't surprise me one bit... I'd be surprised of the opposite honesty!

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not present day feminism.

Genuine feminism achieved its goals, which most of us take for granted today.

Today's feminism is a movement aimed at minimizing female responsibility and maximizing female privilege.

When its most well known claim, which even the President is fond of repeating, is a lie based on cherry picked data ("77c on the dollar") that compares female librarians to male corporate lawyers, you know that there is nothing left. These are the kinds of lies that in any other line of work would lead to reviewers rejecting the papers and people blackballing you for academic dishonesty. In fact, such "studies" have raised doubts about the integrity of social "sciences" as a whole.

A movement that has actual genuine goals to fight for doesn't need to manufacture facts out of whole cloth to keep itself relevant.

Feminism is now many things, viz. a desperate attempt to keep the thousands of people involved in gender studies and women studies programs on campuses relevant, keep the anti male laws on the books, criminalize male sexuality, keep the largesse for dubious ideas flowing, etc. One thing it isn't is a serious and honest movement not formed of ugly looking (and uglier inside) man-hating lesbians busy weaponizing female nature to co-opt relatively normal women with their natural hypergamist tendencies into the "cause".

This is not to say that feminism doesn't have a role these days. There are parts of the world where women are genuinely treated badly and suppressed. Particularly dark is the state of affairs in the Islamic world, especially the middle east, large parts of North Africa, and parts of South Asia.

However, you will never hear feminists railing and ranting about that because Western "liberalism" has signed a truce (actually an alliance given the range of things they collaborate on) with Islamists, who are ironically enough the most illiberal and retrograde force on the planet.

So if I need to listen to a real feminist, I would listen to Ayan Hirsi Ali, and people like her, who have shown real guts to highlight the atrocities on women, at severe risk to their own lives. The entitled and spoilt frauds in the West, who have turned their backs on their sisters in the Islamic world in their obsession to destroy Western males and family, don't interest me beyond the lasting damage they have already caused to the society, and are continuing to inflict.

Of course, when you watch incidents like Cologne, grooming scandals in the UK, open physical and sexual assaults on women in Europe at the hands of these hounds the feminist Chancellor of Germany let into the dying continent, the sight of the feminist mayor of Cologne asking women to dress decently to avoid being assaulted, while her ideological sisters carry out "slut walks" in safe New York, it is impossible for us to not grin and pass the popcorn. Reap the whirlwind, ladies. You made your bed.

Put bluntly, Western feminism is more akin to a mental disease than a real social reform movement at this moment in time.

It's morally bankrupt. The thing that pisses me off most about it is how they tug on people's heartstrings to get what they want. It's easy to rally behind the message of equality. Throw in a few emotionally charged manufactured statistics and wait for the support and money to flow in. Get enough people parroting your bullshit zingers and it becomes truth in the eyes of the common people who never bother to look into it themselves. Demonize anyone who disagrees with concepts that are easy to rally behind and there you have it.

Maybe its a general hatred of men. Maybe its a general love of money and power. Maybe its just really stupid people who believe the shit they're slinging. Most likely a combination of all three.

Like I said, if that's the case than anytime women do that it's coercion too, and women are usually the beneficiaries of divorce settlements so it's a much more relevant threat. The "gimme anal or I divorce you" is laughable from most men, only alphas could pull this off. Also, I highly doubt many men actually say this. The ones who could credibly threaten don't need to outright say it

[–]disposable_pants2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Why would that count as coercion? If I tell my boss that I'm taking another job if I don't get a raise, am I "coercing" (with all the negative, abusive connotations that come with that term) him?

Everyone has the right to walk away. Letting your partner know that they can do something to keep you from walking away isn't coercive, it's considerate.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago* (14 children) | Copy Link

it is the definition of coercion, if the woman values the marriage and loves the man. it is the threat of destroying and withholding something the woman values for the purposes of making her behave a certain way. if you had a watch your dad gave you before he died, that you valued above all other things in the world and i said "give me all your money or i will smash you dads watch with this hammer", would that be coercion? of course it would, this situation is the exact same thing. threatening to kill the marriage unless you allow the man to bring in another women to fuck, aka allow him infidelity, is no different than threatening to kill her cat.

and yes to the boss and job situation, it is an attempt to coerce him into giving you what you want, isnt that obvious?

[–]disposable_pants1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Bad comparison. A marriage is not something a woman unilaterally owns (like a watch); it's a partnership. Threatening my watch is threatening my property, something you have zero right to. Leaving a marriage is leaving a partnership, which each partner has the right to do.

and yes to the boss and job situation, it is an attempt to coerce him into giving you what you want, isnt that obvious?

By that definition any form of negotiation -- or any means of exercising my rights that could possibly inconvenience anyone else -- is "coercion." Coercion is using force or threats to get what you want; it has a distinctly negative connotation. Renegotiating an agreement is not by-definition coercive.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Coercion is using force or threats

you are threatenign to divorce her and destroy HER marriage. that it is not unilaterally hers is irrelevant. if we both owned a car and I threatened to send it off a cliff, it would still beboth a threat and coercion.

youre all insane. a woman comes home one day and says "let me fuck othe rmen or i will divorce you", this is not a "threat"? this is not attempted "coercion? yes right. you are threatenign to destroy everythign she holds dear, her love relationship, her status, her FAMILY. marriage is not just a "partnership", it is a FAMILY

[–]disposable_pants1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

HER marriage

No, it's not "HER" marriage -- it's both of theirs. "HER" marriage is an incredibly entitled mentality. The world doesn't revolve around her; it's (supposed to be) an equal partnership between the two.

If I have own a business 50-50 with a partner -- an equal partnership -- I'm not destroying HIS business if I want out, because it's not HIS business to begin with. It's both of ours. Leaving is perfectly within my rights, just as telling him that I'm going to leave if certain changes in the business don't happen.

a woman comes home one day and says "let me fuck othe rmen or i will divorce you", this is not a "threat"?

She absolutely has a right to walk away, too. Using scary words to describe her exercising her right to walk away doesn't suddenly make it wrong.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am amazed at the knots you guys are twisting yourselves into to pretend that this is not coercion. Of course it is her marriage and their marriage. when you threaten the status of marriage you are threatening her end of it. You are threatening to divest her of her portion of both her and your marriage. When you do own a house, it is still her house and your house and both of yours house. The gerbiling here is amazing

[–]disposable_pants2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

By your definition, literally any action you take that could harm someone else is coercive.

Want to leave a marriage? Coercion. Want a raise? Coercion. Want a better deal on a car? Coercion. Convincing your friends to go to a bar they're lukewarm about? Coercion. Steering them to the place you want to go to eat after the bar? Coercion.

When you expand your definition that far, it's a bad definition. When your argument relies on expanding a word's definition that far, it's a bad argument.

No, it's not "HER" marriage -- it's both of theirs. "HER" marriage is an incredibly entitled mentality.

Ok. This is more a function of speech conventions than any evidence of entitlement. When a married person is talking about the place where they live with, say, coworkers... they're going to say, "My house." Unless your spouse is standing right beside you, saying "our house" is pretty weird. It is weird to include a "we" that isn't physically present or part of the conversation.

Unless you're the Queen of England.

[–]disposable_pants1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When a married person is talking about the place where they live with, say, coworkers... they're going to say, "My house."

"When my wife and I moved into our house last summer" is not at all weird to say, even if she isn't there. Saying "the house" or "the car" is also extremely common.

In this specific context, the argument is being made that by exiting the marriage the man is destroying something that's primarily (if not totally) HERS, and therefore what he's doing is bad. That's not the case; he is as much a part of the marriage as she is.

Yeah they're both technically coercion but the dictionary definition applies to such a trivially wide range of human interaction, both benign and malignant, that it becomes meaningless to use.

Just to be clear the root sentiment I'm hearing from you is 'Women shouldn't have to make sexual choices based on threat of emotional pain' and I agree. But there's a danger in the language used here of overlapping into a blanket statement of 'Women shouldn't be subject to any sexual market forces'.

[–]tintedlipbalmfemale-to-tamale woman1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Grooming would involve taking steps to ease her into caving, so to make her say yes to something she did not want at first, by normalizing it in some way (through porn, media, not doing it means she's being a boring prude etc). Some men also go through this process to make their wives participate in their gross fetishes like cuckoldry, but for threesomes I have seen lots of media in the last decade portraying MFF as borderline rite-of-passagey.

"Face it?" Normally I agree with you, this is the case of men not knowing what it's like to be a woman in a relationship she's heavily invested emotionally. Women want to please the man they love and that means vulnerability

"Here watch this porn about anal so you think its normal" not sure how that is going to work really. IMO the escalating sexual acts has more to do with women's expectations of being with an attractive guy and having fierce competition over the limited numbers of them.

"Here watch this porn about anal so you think its normal"

It's funny that you point this out as implausible, because this is actually how it happened and how it became mainstream that women get asked to do anal as part of a checklist in their relationship. It didn't just happen overnight.

IMO this comment thread wasn't even about competing for a man in the SMV, it was in the case of a married woman being pressured into a threesome by the man she married.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yeah but dudes always wanted anal, thats why porn sold it to them, it caters to already existing male fantasies, does not brainwash men into them.

[–]tintedlipbalmfemale-to-tamale woman2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They might have wanted it, but they didn't expect it from their relationship. Porn made it an expectation, since they experienced it by proxy. The normalization of porn makes new real expectations for women and their sexual behavior, so grooming.

I thought this whole conversation was about a marriage at stake, but tbh it also works for relationship, I wouldn't say it's uncommon for young women to be pressured into some act so they don't seem prudish and uncool.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Porn made it an expectation

this is what I think is off. Porn sold the already desired fantasy. A lopsided SMP enabled top men to actually get anal via huge demand and short supply. Then other men heard about it and it trickled down to maybe the top 40% of men from the top 20.

I still dont see how its coercion. Its more like the market coerces it than the individuals.

aren't men just women on steroids when you really think about it? :P

No. That's tranny logic

[–]Princeso_Bubblegum☭ The real red pill ☭1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

is tranny logic like women logic and men logic mashed together?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No.. more like the logic of a mentally ill person who wishes they were the opposite sex.

[–]manakiiipotential gay cuck0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why don't you considers trans women to be real women?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

For the same reason that white people wearing blackface aren't actually black.

Because of their sex

Well, I guess I agree with the concept of equality. Or maybe I just see how much better women have it now adays and wish things were truly equal.

And by equality I mean true equality. Like the type of equality where women are no longer babied or given special treatment and if a woman yells at or hits a man he gets to yell or hit her back and not face negative consequences for it.

There are some things feminists say they are for, like equal rights that I support. However most feminists that have any kind of actual power or platform spend their time undermining legal equality so I would not really call them feminist positions.

I do believe it's unfair that women have to pay so much for feminine products. I think they should be free and subsidized by the government so that all of society pays their fair share.

http://m.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?isRefine=true&_nkw=Tampax+Pearl+Active+Tampons+Assorted+Regular+60+Count+Plastic+Applicator&_mwBanner=1

60 tampons for 8 bucks...

Assuming you used 2 a day while on your period, that's around 14 tampons per month. So total cost for a year's supply would be about 24 bucks. Not exactly breaking the bank.

Plus these are the nice tampons with the plastic applicators, if you wanted to you could get cardboard ones even cheaper. The whole "tampons are too expensive and need to be free" nonsense is just another non-issue invented by feminists because they've run out of real problems but are unwilling to give up the victim narrative.

Equal legal rights.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with highlighting things such as street harassment, as I think that it's disgraceful that so many men think that it's completely appropriate to harass women like this.

This is an issue where I feel that many men are out of touch, especially those from a middle class background, as - not to put too fine a point on it - it tends to be something which is overwhelmingly a problem amongst the lower classes.

Other than that, I've yet to see anything to suggest that feminism is anything other than a ''grass is greener on the other side'' movement.

I think that feminism should be seen for what it is: a female advocacy group. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but they need to get rid of the ''equality'' crap, as that's just intellectually dishonest.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The great thing feminism brought is the general better representation of female characters in books and series. I'm not just talking of Game of Thrones. Think how many great female character there are in the Harry Potter series. Women are no longer supposed to be just 'the love interest' of the man in fiction.

[–]DarkLord0chinChin1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

you mean the majestic characters of Ghostbusters 2016?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those were pure shit. Game of Thrones or Harry Potter have far better female characters.

Abortion rights. If they could, I think we should have an abortion in a vending machine in every public bathroom.

The problem with feminism - and perhaps many social movement - is that they want to have it both ways. The PatriarchyTM offered women a shit-load of privileges that feminism wants to retain even as it dismantles the patriarchy.

Just CHOOSE YOUR POISON, BITCHES!

Do you want to be on equal terms with men or not?

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I suppose if we can go back I'd say things like any legal inequalities between men and women being corrected.

But at present, in the west? Absolutely nothing. It should be scrapped.

Sure. There are two, which were part of "traditional" feminism and which have been fully realized.

1) the idea that women are fully responsible for the decisions they make, morally, legally, and financially. Women are rational human beings who can and do make rational choices.

2) Women's self determination. She's free to marry or not, fuck or not, work or not, have kids or not. She's free to live her life however she wants within the bounds of the law. Three conditions:

a) She is fully responsible for the consequences of all her decisions, good and bad. She will bear the burdens and reap the benefits of every decision. See 1) above.

b) No complaining, whining or bitching that a decision she made didn't turn out very well for her or didn't get her what she wanted.

c) She pays for it. She finds a way to finance her life. She shouldn't get to rely on a man, family, charity or government for her "independence". You wanna be "independent"? You pay for it WITH YOUR OWN MONEY, like men do.

Feminists support importing Muslims, and I agree with them because this will destroy feminism.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I mean ideally I just want people to be able to do what they want, but not be able to pass on consequences to others. Women should be able to vote but unfortunately they seem to vote for tons of handouts for them at the expense of taxpayers. They should be able to fuck/not fuck who they want but not able to get welfare for children men don't stick around for. Or child support if the men did not want to opt into the childs life.

Also, male parental leave is probably bad overall but good for me personally so I'll support it. The fair paycheck act or whatever it was recently was marketed as feminism but in reality just made it harder for companies to keep a big secret about who is making what salary wise. I support it in that regard and I doubt it will have any affect on gender earning gaps.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, if you do not want them to have handouts for their children, I sure as fuck hope you are 100% pro abortion including Hillary's plan for later abortions. Fair is fair.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes free legal abortions in fact let's pay people to get them (srs). Also bc. And by late term abortion that should be legal up to 1 year out the womb imo . Peter singer made that argument well.

[–]IFuckedZoeQuinn1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I like your ideas but if you pay people to get abortions then won't some women intentionally get pregnant over and over to collect that sweet abortion check?

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

limitations I guess? Limit 1 every 3 years? even with abusers its still prolly cheaper than the long term costs of unwanted kids
